I always love videos like that. Makes me think about my spaces as well. I have been tidying as I go and it is making me pretty happy. You did such a great job clearing your desk. So clean and tidy now. I can’t work in a mess so I usually keep my desk quite tidy. I also keep all my scissors in pots and mugs. 😊

A good place to hang stuff is under the desk on the sides of your drawer cabinets. I use Command hooks under there and hang all my quilting rulers and stencils and stuff. I love your nice big room with all the antiques!!

Kate! Great video - and I watched Kathleen's video about her scraps and I felt so proud of myself as I have a similar system, really by accident more than anything else. I imagine the happy mail will get out of control, what about making an idea book or an eclectic journal/correspondence journal to showcase some or all those gifts - that might be a nice way of honouring or keeping tabs on who gave what. Would be lovely to see a video every now and again on that. Take heart with the December daily. It was the first year that I did it, and I realised there were a lot of days where we didn't do anything worthy of a photo or special journalling - despite that I'm only halfway through and I have it on my to do's this week to finish up.

Could you put some nails or cup hooks on that wall right in front of your desk, under the window, for your scissors and ruler? Regarding the Happy Mail, if it is preventing you from using it, I would just open it and amalgamate it into your stash. I'm sure people don't expect a shout out every time you use something. Maybe you could do a happy mail video once a month or something and then put it all away. It's over flowing the container, so you have to do something with it, per Dana's rules. Lol.

I’ve been watching bits of this series looking for “inspiration “ for clearing my own workspace. Is that even a thing?🤔 But I did spend a couple of hours yesterday sorting and organizing all my scraps. When I looked up I realized that it was getting dark and that I had been at it for awhile 😂. I think I did pretty well. Solids separated from patterned paper in large, medium and small pouches.Smaller scraps in a pencil case at the ready on my desk. It’s handy for looking for that one little pop of color to complete a 2025 Margarete Miller challenge or full deck challenge (playing 🎴 cards) from Shanouki Art. Thanks for giving me a couple of ideas on how I want to have things on my table.😊

Your desk looks so peaceful, well done. It’s all the what I call “ad hoc” bits that cause me an issue, too good to throw away but I don’t see an immediate need for them. I laughed about the pencils I have a pouch I take when I go to “my ladies” where we make cards for charity and was looking for my scissors in the pouch didn’t find them but found 8 emery board nail files !!!! I must decide on some designated places for a few things. Sadly, I have too much So it doesn't matter how fabulous it is...my space is over crowded. One reason is my containers are over flowing. Also the question...Where would I look for _____ x item first is key to this system working. I am getting inspired to declutter & donate. I have decided not to sell stuff because that takes a lot of energy to choose platform, photograph, package & mail off. I trust that it will get into the hands of someone who will enjoy it!! Kate! I had the SAME dilemma with happy mail and wanting to be sure to convey my gratitude when I used something and would end up not using the items because they were 'out of sight out of mind' (which is easy for me) and now I have given myself permission to say "If you see an item I am using and you were the kind person who gifted it to me, please know how grateful I am" and then I keep going.

Loving watch you work Kate! Here is a thought for scissors as I see that blank wall spot in front of you below the window. I have one of those magnet strips to hang knives in a kitchen. I hung it on the wall over one of my worktables and it holds anything metal like a champ. If I didn't have a tall window in front of my journal worktable I'd hang another one there for my scissors and metal rulers. ♥♥

I love your space Kate - well done with your desk. I was interested in the things that end up on your desk and you get frozen - that happens to me too! Exactly that! And it’s really hard to get past it - I think I need to make a “home” for those kinds of things. Put it in the “freezer” I guess, haha. Thanks also for the mention - I appreciate that!

I’ve resisted watching this video, because I KNEW it would inspire me to give this a go. Love the outcome! And we have flowers and leaves in our garden that would be fun to play with. The neat thing about first looking for trash is that it is easy to identify and any *trash you find and put into the bag makes the space a little less cluttered and your mind while you do that has a chance to see what is really in that space there, instead of just thinking of it as a pile. *Trash is defined as anything you know is trash, not what somebody else might. If you have to think about it, then you skip it. It will be addressed later in the other steps Dana K. White defines.

as long as you cn see that your desk is white .... it is not a complete disaster. LOL I have not clue what color my desk is. It has been 4 years since I have seen it.

🧚🏻‍♀️I’ve just spent two hours getting some order in my craft room Kate! I came downstairs for a coffee and thought I would check your YT and found you’ve been doing the same!!! I didn’t have too much to go in the rubbish either. I basically just tidied up and put things away in the right place! Love your tables and storage! My room is a spare bedroom too and I use the wardrobe for storeage!🤗💐

I love your space, it isn’t overcrowded and messy even before you tidy it up. Looks good to me. I have so many baskets and bins full of digital kits, projects and laces it gets overwhelming.
