Since catching my first marlin out of my 16 foot boat out from Bermagui N.S.W in 1997, l have been totally hooked on marlin fishing. I frequently visit Cairns, and spend time fishing along the Great Barrier Reef. I really enjoy putting clips together to share with all my friends

Humpback Whales migrating through Byron Bay - June 2023

l really enjoyed the magnificent bird's eye view I was able to get with the use of my drone. Even with restrictions of a 100 meter buffer zone from the whales. There were literally hundreds of whales going through during our short four day stay

My First Whirligig
Переглядів 10 тис.4 роки тому
During the COVID-19 Stage 4 lock down in Melbourne Australia, i had way too much spare time on my hands and decided to design and make my very first Whirligig. I had an idea of making it of me on my boat 'TWO UTES' hooked up to my very first marlin which happened out of Bermagui N.S.W in March 2097....Here is the result of many hours tinkering in my home workshop, making do with materials i had...

The marlin was caught by Andrey Grigoryev, IGFA Representative for Russia, on the 5th day of the Lizard Island 24th Black Marlin Classic on Hicks Reef. The marlin w...

That is one awesome fish, wow, great video too. Thumbs up, Cheers Joe 😊
What are the ones with the bars? I got a wild discus from a local pet store, but they couldn't tell me what it was. I'm inclined too believe that it's either a Ianu or a Mengal. Won't let me post a pic or I would
Awesome footage
cool video!
The marlin wast tagged with a N.S.W. scientific tag, and released to continue its breeding cycle
Simply massive... Well done. I hope that was catch and release at that size.
talk like that- the presets
soundtrack??
Hi the rod is a cairns custom made rod. All l can tell you is that its 7 feet long
what rod are u using? the length of ur rod? Cheers
Congratulations, mate. You desrve the win!!! Cheers, Trevor
well done. nice catch and release too.
Tune n Stingrays always make for a fun days fishing. If I'm out n theres not much happenin I'll target Stingrays for a bit of fun until the tide improves. Good vid guys.
Thank you
awesome footage!
@cateater4u2 All billfish do it, especially Sailfish. They do it to dislodge any obstruction in their throat or mouth. The fish isn't hurt at all, it's kinda like how we can stick out our tongue...except billfish can do it with their stomach lol.
Thank you. Sorry l should have been a bit more specific with the title...should read 'Feeding my discus live Black Worms'...Are you into worms?
absolutely beautiful fish ... and to think i clicked on this video to see worms :O)
nice fish
Hi mate what rod are and reel are u using ?
Nice video Joe, Im heading up December 10th to fish with Tim on Tradition again this year so thanks for filling the void until my trip with your video. Joe
Hi :) I now only have one from the original group...watching that clip again bought back some good memories, thanks for refreshing it for me :) I think l'll raise another group shortly, but havn't decided which strain...some many wonderful ones to choose from. Thanks again
@charmaineharrison Thaks for the comment, and glad you enjoyed the clip. It really is a wonderful place, and I'm sure you had much success
is freeze dried BS good for betta's, glofish, and neon tetra's?
@gam12010 Cool. Seen the house boats on the river, and look like great set ups. Depending on how much fresh is still in the river...the best bet would be close to the mouth, as we spent lots of time fishing the mangroves around centre island. ENJOY!
Hi 4:23 is at the end of the clip....you may have been refering to the 'Red Throught' we caught
Hi, Do you know the name of the fish at 4.23, we got one off Mackay and stumped, is it a reticulated emperor? appreciate a reply if you know, Cheers Greg
well done good catches and even better boat
Nice Little Tunny. Man, those things must run the seas of the world. We catch them here in the Gulf of Mexico off of Florida and Alabama coasts. Most just call them Bonito eventhough they're not a true Bonito. In winter they're kinda' small but in the summer the real "hogs' come through. Those "Borilla's", as we call 'em really peel off the drag. Lots of fun on light gear.
haha great vid, plus the beaches look awsome. Reminds me of hawaii alot lol see u've got the rough beard look bak thomas lmao :-p
good catch
no l buy the beef heart ready to go frozen in small cubes. Be very careful feeding it in a tank with gravel...can cause you big problems
In the planted take l only do a 50% water change once a week, with the use of a gravel cleaner. While siphoning the water out l place it around the bottom of the tank picking up waste and rubbish. I re fill the tank with water straight out of the tank. As our Melbourne water is very good. Hope you get some discus, they really are worth the trouble!
Hi Ingie. Thanks for your comments. Yes they do take alot of looking after, especially if you buy them small....which works out much cheeper. But they really are worth th effort. As you watch them grow, their colors and patterns start to come through. Check out some of my others clips on 'twoutesmarlin'
Awesome, haven't seen water like that for a while!!
on those penn 50's we usually have about 950 meters of line
No to both those questions sorry. Its for a challenge l am taking part off for a forum group called simply discus. The discus you see here came from Townsville
Joe are you a breeder or do you know some in Shoalhaven, Illarwarra region, NSW?
Hi there Eileen. Thanks for that! l am really glad that you enjoyed the clip! l feel that l have already won by being apart of this challenge, and for getting to know lovely people like yourself here on Simply Discus. In my eyes you are the 'Super Trooper'
yea my art teacher keep them he showed me some pics of blood pigeon something like that and a nice blue one just like yours they are really beautyfull if i had space i would start with one and grow little by little but they are just not my style of fish plus is fhresh water but hey CONGRATS
Thanks for the Comment.I have spent a few hundred dollars by now on food mainly and equipment. I was luck to obtain the discus for free...Some through Simply Dicuse for the 'Challenge', and the others from a friend. They are not cheap to buy....as you may know.
nice fish how much money have you spend on this disscus allready??
Hey nick. Its a Penn, and was spooled with approx' 950 metres of Moimi mono line. The fish pulled about 300 - 400 metres of line as it ran deep. Matt did a great job pumping it all back on. Matt also thanks you.
Thanks for your comment. I was led to believe that they were wild caught. I'm glad you like them.
Lovely pair with awesome colors! Are they wild caught?
THat leader man is my good friend capt' Ashley wallis. He is the best traceman/deckie l hav ever seen. He runs his own boat out of Bateman's Bay N.S.W. And really knows how to find marlin. A great skipper!
Around 6 to 8 knots. Fun stuff with water crashing over the transom yeh?
Yesw we are...and loving ot. This was actually a double hook up, and released a smaller 500lb black marlin before going after this 950lb fish.Awsome stuff!
Glad you like it....more to come soon l hope.
It sure was. We were 80miles out from cairns and in 2000metes deep blue water. Swimming with that whale shark with schools of big eye tuna underneath was UNBEILEVABLE!!!
