I like Celine but I never thought she was the 'best selling female artist of all time'. People usually argue that it is either Madonna or Mariah, no one ever mentions or even thinks of Celine as a contender for 'Best Selling Female Artist'... Do they mean best selling in France cos definitely not worldwide!
Well here in America, it's actually neither of the 3. The best selling female artist of all time here in America is Barbra Streisand. After her, Madonna barely edges Mariah out, and Celine Dion is quite a bit under all 3. Worldwide, it's definitely Madonna. I believe somewhere around 300 million records sold worldwide. I believe Celine is second with somewhere around 220 million, and Mariah is 3rd with around 200 million.

markus winchester Well you know now. Just Search Celine Dion lip-sync on youtube and there are plenty of examples! The only difference between Celine and Mariah is that Celine lip-syncs without blinking an eye whereas Mariah always seems guilty whenever she lipsyncs the high notes which is why she does not pull it off as convincingly as Celine and gets caught out more often.
markus winchester Having said that, they are both already great legends and their songs are terribly difficult to sing live all the time. So I think it is fine that they lip-sync every now and then to preserve their voice. But both ladies CAN still sing live now if they want to and thats all that matters.
Awards have nothing to do with the amount of albums sold. Celine is my favorite singer and has a ton of awards as well as album sales but Madonna has sold way more.
