Just got up and running with your video help! I'm also using the WSJT-X v2.71 -devel version which allows duplex operation so only one version of WSJT-X is required. Tnx 73 Jeff / KI0KB
Thanks for this video! Due to it I was able to start operating FT4 on RS-44 (with the SAT controller) 73 de NJ2DX
Very cool! I have always wanted to do this.
I know this is 2 years old, but I just did this today successfully thanks to your video and it made a world of a difference. Goodbye trash connectors!
It is such a quality of life improvement!
I just picked up a brand new g90 sweet little radio, the power poles I guess are on the current new ones
It appears they are being shipped with the powerpole connector from HRO. About time. :) But the fan tray is still the old connector. Easier to swap that.
Funny thing, I just ordered my G90 and it came in the mail yesterday. I was surprised to find it came with the power poles already installed on the back. I have no idea if this is something new the manufacturer started doing or what, but am very thankful it came that way. It was ordered online from HRO.
It's about time! Happy to hear they FINALLY fixed this. Looks like from the HRO site they haven't updated the GFZ-1 fan tray. But that's an easy fix. Radioddity images still show the old power connector. HRO images do show powerpoles are installed. :)
@@nu1u_ant That's fantastic! Maybe HRO has some technicians swapping the connectors. Either way a good call on someone's part! I got the fan stand from HRO as well and can confirm the connector on the back isn't updated.
Much Mahalo, just did it last night 20240705 Friday. You were right about always checking fitment of power poles, very slow process. I unscrewed golden screw stand for easement of sliding powerpole through refitted hole with a needle nose plier. Do this step beforehand so you can have longer strokes while filing. Now I feel much better that there won't be that moment when I say I should of done it beforehand. Already did extended mod while I was in there tinkering. Mahalo and Aloha from Honolulu Hawaii 🤙🤙🤙😎😎😎😎
I can hear 3-d printers buzzing across the land. Great job.
Is there a trick to get 2 wsjtx programs running in windows. I am using windows 11. I get an error message that tells me I can only have it running once. Thank You for your videos! DE K8OCN
I am trying to do this and I am getting an error when I start the second XSJTX instance. wsjt-x Another instance may be running try to remove stale lock file How do I get around this? Thank you for all your information. Del K8OCN
You need to change the rig name on the second icon. . Check out the video description for the icon launch info.
Fantastic content Brother. The video and audio is perfect for remake/upgrade of movie "War Games" Matthew Broderick could use his AARP mouse pad for anti-skid on his Begali.... Dopler makes for classic warble sound of old tube AM rigs - The olden olden days before RST 😁💪🇺🇸
Tnx ant
I got it
I really enjoyed this "adverse copy" exercise! Thanks for sharing. 73, Patrick KF4LMZ
Really appreciate you putting the fruits of your troubleshooting out there for the benefit of the community.
great job thanks 73 from kb2uew
Best and most concice tutorial yet !!! Thank you Ant !!!! 😁
I did the exact same thing! Ran it into the space under the dinette seat since I normally operate at the table. I reached out to SmartPlug to see if they had one with just a blank plate, but was told no. So I had to opt for fitting my own, as you did.
Very nice and clean install Brother Ant !! Your videos have a common thread: Take your time and use quality parts and tools.. please continue with these videos. Best and 73 de W3HLS, john, 'Up the road a bit. 💪🇺🇸
First time I've seen fishing inside of a camper...😊
Nice Job
Nicely done, Ant! You've given me some ideas for making a pass through form my camper.
I did the exact same thing except I used the outdoor shower hatch and put the barrel connector in there. Works great.
Thanks for sharing, great ideal. I was going to try pushing my coax through the slide seal on my RV but I like your setup much better. Thanks again 73s, KI5PPS Mike
Another option is to create a passthrough using PVC fittings. On my pelican cases, I use electrical PVC fittings because the threads aren't tapered like plumbing PVC and they will take those metal locking rings used to secure the fittings into an electrical panel. Just use some silicone before tightening completely to create a seal. A PVC cap completes the deal.
For the win !!
Very Rainy Day Ant.... Pretty soon, I'll be floating by you camper and QTH. Great video Brother.... !!! Please make more Ham.Camp.HowTos 😁💪🇺🇸 73 de W3HLS, John
Bah - Centering is highly overrated! Looks like it will work just fine. Excellent idea repurposing that plastic piece.
Great tip! I've got a tire mount that I use with my 33' MFJ mast. But the butt on my SOTABEAMS Tactical 7000hds is about 1/4-inch to bit to fit. I'll have to see if I can try something similar.
Thanks for this video Ant. Just got my 9700 setup with sat pc32 today. Was wondering how to do the digital modes on satellites.
just what exactly do you gain by doing this? the original connectors, while considered cheap toy connectors, supply the voltage and amps required.
30 seconds in has your answer.
I'm having problems with the OEM connectors not being tight enough and causing the rig to switch off. the wobble around too much - cheap and nasty
Glad to have found your video for this new owner of the G90. Buying mine from another ham, it still had the POS OEM connector. Swapping it out for an APP was a natural choice simply because all the radio power cables I have around are configured with APPs. For anyone undertaking the connector swap out, with patience and a fine mill file, one can enlarge the connector opening for a tight friction fit that, at least for me, works quite well. I opted out of using tape to mark the size of the opening in favor of going slow to remove metal and constantly testing the APP for fit. Because of little power the G90 draws, the 15A pins and APP housing are more than adequate.
Thanks for the detail here. My connector of choice is the xt60, but this is very helpful to see what I'll be dealing with.
Good idea.
awesome!!!
Nice converter box! I'll bet the kids will get a kick out of trying CW.
Dude you like to live dangerously, not so much from the chip as picking on your wife. 😆
I want the IC-9700 for receiving digital sats. Is it true the 9700 does not have enough bandwidth to receive 9600 baud signals? Thanks, CE4JDM
Fascinating, recent LICW member ~7months what output power do you use? I've worked a few FM satellites quite a while ago with 5w handheld Yaesu FT-7. I might have to try this sometime in the future.
Likely 5-10 watts. You definitely don't need much, but I also have a lot of feed line to get to the antenna on the roof.
Can you save the set up in the 9700 and return to it with out re-adjusting the settings each time? Same q for WSJT-X
Yes, both the radio and the application should save your changes by default. The radio, with an SD card, can save for multiple different configs. The application allows for multiple configs as well.
I've never understood this infatuation with Anderson Powerpole plugs when the multipin Molex plugs supplied with most radios work just fine.
I'm curious what is that jumper wire running to the left of the transmit port?
And I thought the challenge involved an integrated circuit 🙂
"He needs some MILK!"
Wow thanks for sharing this. I guess I assumed CW on a satellite would be a drifty horror show.
sigh...cant get my 9700 to key...you were using a USB cable correct and not some type of CI-V cable...when my 9700 is plugged in I get COM4 and COM5 SatPC32 is using COM5
Brilliant solved several unaddressed issues in 1 video, thanks for taking the time to put this together - Dave M0SAT
Looking good...hope to work you on the air! N8HI
Looks good. Field operations are my favorite. Have fun! 73, KC2SPZ.
