Beautiful Seth Thomas Westminster clock. The chimes are so clear and pleasant. The distinguishing feature of the No. 98 is the trim on top of the clock/hump. Is has the No.124 three arbor movement which was serviced and oiled.

I heard these movements are a pain to reassemble how long did it take for you to service this one?
I make some small tick marks on the wheels with stops before disassembly, bushing install, and cleaning. So when it goes back together it is easier. Service is about 5 hours, then time to test and regulate. Hope this helps explain.

I have exactly same clock as this and she’s still running well being newly antique! The Very Best Mayland chimes set is in there! This clock cost $56 for silvered dial options and $61 for raised bronze numerals.

How ya doin,I bought a nice Seth Thomas from u about 10 years ago 1915 sorta beehive style, prospector? I think u told me it was called and was only made for one year has inlay at bottom of clock case .I've yet to get it to keep good time.ita super slow .donu remember me? I used to work in an antique auction house. These clocks showed up weekly. Pretty much all failed to operate correctly, I began to think it was the onset of cheap novelty, throw-away generation, even back that far then.
I believe you are correct!!! Most folks won’t spend funds to service their windup high quality clocks, since an electric can be purchased for much less.
God those things are so cool. Its a shame we just see "6:00" now

Yes I have worked on the electric Westminster’s, not sure if one was a Roxbury. We are able to still get some of the electric motors.

The hammer rods are meant to be bent slightly to allow a hard/loud or soft hit/sound

Hi Anthony use a 7 key size to wind time and salute arbors, use 00 (2) to adjust time and silence.

More of a metal sound as the leather tips harden
That is the crutch rod your adjusting. The verge is what that is attached to. The crutch is adjusted to set the clock in "beat."

@@colonelsclocks I have a similar Westminister Bulova Mantel Clock and the "TIME" winding keyhole is located in the CENTER of the Three (3) winding keyhole. The left and right clock's face keyholes correspond to the "Hourly Salute" and the "Quarter Hour" chimes respectively. Perhaps different versions of this Classic mantel clock are configured differently, but mine is LEFT = Quarter Hour / CENTER = Time / Right = Hourly Salute . Good Luck .... I just bought a Westminster chiming clock off eBay and the three rearmost hammers that do chime are dull. The two nearest the door look too long, or the rod stand is somehow twisted. I give up trying to hang the pendulum as it seems the hook is too wide to fit through the square hole to hang it and I’m scared to damage the very top part of it. The pendulum also touches the rear chime rod and stops. It only cost £30, but it’ll cost at least £300 plus to have it cleaned (I can smell WD40) the rods are sticky as well as the mechanism. I wish I’d waited to pay more for a better clock.
The rods are different lengths to allow the correct westminster tones. The hammers are easily adjusted and meant to be slightly bent to strike the rod with a nice chime.
Does anyone know where a person can find out how to turn the clocks time backwards ??
