KNK Power 2511 Clone
Переглядів 17 тис.5 місяців тому
I made this video a while ago and forgot to upload it. These little saws do pretty good. Like the other clones, it doesn’t rev as high as the original but has nice torque. They come with the 3/8LP bar and chain and are easily adapted to the 1/4” micro like I have on this one.

This clutch drum, bar and chain will convert the V-MODEST and Echo 2511T to the super thin 1/4” micro chain.
New coil to fix lean jetting? Yep!

I finally took the time to fix one of my own saws today. My M-Tronic Stihl MS261 was misbehaving on idle. This is kind of a boring shaky video but the fix worked perfect.

Super lightweight yet powerful and fun
The starter looks thicker
Both clones are about 1/4" thicker than the Echo because of the shock absorbing spring inside.
@HockfireSaws looks thicker on the v modest then the knk
@@JamesOneill-x5i You are correct. I just measured and the KNK is 1/8" smaller than V-Mod. And I flubbed my response a little. The KNK does not have the 2nd spring for soft start. I have the secondary black screen on my Echo which adds width and makes it wider than the KNK.
@HockfireSaws I've got the echo cs-2511 was going to get the v modest for a back up saw are they good
@@JamesOneill-x5i They are. I've had one beside my Echo since it was released and I've run them head to head on many occasions. The V-Modest is not as fast but it does have more low end torque. The smaller carb would account for both. My Echo is heavily modified so my comparisons aren't real fair. I seem to grab the V-Mod more often when I'm out in the woods because it's quieter than my piped Echo. I haven't had a single problem with it.
Love my V modest saw!..👍🤙🏽
Hi Scotty, Do you know the model# for the KNK 12" carver? I found this KMO403254A but it shows 10"/8" in specs. The one in your video looks like 12" but tag on it says 2016. Is there a new or newer 12" model yet? Thanks!
They have 4 different variants of the 2511. Some with 3/58LP and some with 1/4'. there is an option for a 10" hard nose bare in the book but I know 12" are available too. I have one of the 12". The bar says .043 but the groove is actually almost .060 and a .050 chain fits just fine. I only have one and I think a fellow is taking it today. Here are the saw model numbers: KM0403254 KM0403254A KM0403255 KM0403255A
do you think handles and bar brake are interchangeable? guy just gave me a cs2511t he ran it over broke few parts looks like it would be cheaper just buy clone or clone parts
I didn’t put the screws in when I made the comparison but the starter did seem to fit. If I get a chance tomorrow I will have another look.
@HockfireSaws appreciate you!
@@sonofsteve566 I'm sorry it took so long to get back with you. The V-Modest starter almost fits the Echo 2511 but not quite. It fits on ok but the screw holes are just a tiny bit off. If you drilled the holes out a little bit on the V-Modest starter it would probably fit. I can't say for sure because I tried it with one from a new saw and I don't want to mess it up.
@@HockfireSaws no need to apologize, so its the handles I'm wishing to know if interchangeable
@@sonofsteve566 It would function but they are different where they meet up with the cover. The OEM fits down in the cover where the V-Mod fits over a little stub. It would look a little odd is all.
Czy podejdzie firtr powietrza od echo? Gaźnik, tłok cylinder?
Echo carb will fit but may be a little hard to tune due to cylinder differences. They work very well on ported cylinders. The air filter will fit if you also change the mounting plate. Engine parts will not interchange. Echo = closed port, V-Mod = open port cylinder.
its cool they offer them like that , mine is running good it did stop oiling though haha.
Hi , i converted my 2511 to 043 gauge by changing to the bar from a Makita DUC256 or 254 or an EGO pole saw ,they are the same mount, then using an Oregon 90 series chain or stihl PM3 micro mini chain , it's a very cheap change and gives much smoother cuts on smaller diameter branches . 1:15
I have one just like it and it's great. Feels like a toy but it works.
I wonder if they will do a rear handle version 🤔
I do believe they are working on it.
Is it a clamshell or not?
They are not. The cylinder bolts to the crank case with 4 Allen bolts then that assembly bolts into the saw chassis.
@@HockfireSawswill the Egan 2511 pipe fit on the v moddest
@@ryannogle7241 I honestly don't know. I'll ask around though. I don't have any OEM or AM mufflers for the Echo to try.
Great video !!!
Are the chainsaw bar and chain interchangeable? I'm thinking about purchasing a V modest but i would like to put the oregon speed cut nano system if possible. Thank you and great video !!!
The clutch pack, spur drum, bar and chain are all the same for these two saws and the original Echo. All interchangeable. You could put the nano on just the same. In fact I have a customer that did it already and he loves that setup on his.
@@HockfireSaws Awesome thank you.
Do they both have the open port cylinder? I know the echo is closed port and the v modest is open port but how about the knk?
99% sure they are open but I will ask the guy that ported mine.
@@HockfireSaws I'm gonna try porting my v modest maybe today. I'll see how easily it comes apart and I'll know more about it. I seen a video from Charles brisco and he seems to have found an amazing amount of power in his by doing his build
@@matthewknight5641 Lots of red loctite on things. You may need a little heat here and there.
My shutoff button stopped working day 3. Anyone else having that issue. Or other issues? Also mine Boggs when throttled out of the box. Needed h jet adjusted i think, was hopping to break it in before adjusting carb but then off button stopped working. Maybe i got a bad one?
My shutoffbutton stopped working. Anyone else having isssues?
My shutoff button stopped working day 3, also needed a carb adjust, cuts well when running tho. Just scary when i can turn it off...
You can carefully pry the switch out of the handle to make sure both waiters are still plugged on. If they are, you can carefully remove the engine cover and trace the wires to check for damage and connections. If all looks good then chances are the switch went bad. It happens. It’s a mechanical thing and sometimes mechanical things break. I’ll gladly send you a replacement switch if that turns out to be the problem. In a pinch you can use the choke to kill the engine when a switch fails.
Carb adjustments are just a fact of life with a 2-stroke. As the engine settles in its efficiency changes so small adjustments are to be expected. Temperature changes and altitude also necessitate small adjustments. The small screwdriver in the tool kits is there for this purpose and countless videos here on UA-cam provide excellent tips on how to properly do it.
Thank you, loose wire after prying out. H jet needed backing off. Saw is ripppin once again.
@@user-eo7vn1fy6c Fantastic!

On pull cord side.where to get replacement parts
@@chachi2481 sorry I didn’t see this until just now and I’m at a farm show all day. I’ll get with you tonight. We can certainly get parts, I have many on order but it will be a couple weeks until they arrive.
@@HockfireSawspull cord not engaging flywheel sounds like coil is stripped when I pull.when assembly is off pull sound fine
@@chachi2481 I will pull one apart this afternoon and have a close look to see if there is something that can be tweaked inside. I'm thinking maybe just slightly bending the two metal paddles on the flywheel may help with engagement.
@@HockfireSaws well now I believe I need the whole pull cord assembly with coil.where would I get that part I don't have a part # & the ones on Amazon don't seam to match.
Just bought one last week and it is leaking oil everywhere. Had it apart three times to figure out what’s going on and no dice.
It’s possible this might help. Not saying for sure but maybe. ua-cam.com/video/t-kB1oqhQ6Y/v-deo.html
@@HockfireSaws I ran the screw at the extreme setting on both ends and still leaving a puddle when stored. Just not my luck.
@@colebarnett199 well rats. There is a couple things you could try in order to nail down the source a little more if you want to. The first would be to run it enough to get it nice and warm, a dozen cuts or so, then dump whatever oil is left in the tank and let it sit with the cap back on. If the puddle is much smaller then we can assume it’s originating from the tank and not just accumulated oil in the clutch area. Next would be to do it again but leave the cap off or loose so no pressure can build up in the tank from the heat. If the puddle goes to near nothing then I would assume a leak prior to the pump. At least then you have an idea of where to look closer and go from there. The other route is of course, return it for a refund or replacement. Replacement may be close to the end of the month though. Their stock was real low a couple days ago and the next batch doesn’t land until the 20th. It will take a few days for import stuff and getting them sent out.
@@HockfireSaws thank you!
Please share the link where to buy❤
I don't have a web site up yet (been saying that for 1 1/2 years) so for now you can get with me via FaceBook.com/hockfiresaws or email hockfiresaws@gmail.com. I'd be happy to get you fixed up.
Hey mate, subscribed 👍 can you send these 1/4 conversion kits to Aus? Getting a clone 2511t soon, hope its a v modest 🤞🍻
I think I could but I would have to get a shipping price. Send me an email hockfiresaws@gmail.com
thanks.
I thought there was a question about longer bars that would fit this saw but I can't find it now. At any rate, any bar with the A041 (Oregon) mount will work on this saw. It takes the same bar as Echo.
Subscribed. How do I get ahold of you about ordering? Thanks
Shoot me a message through my facebook page if you can, that way when I get to the shop this afternoon and see it I'll remember :) facebook.com/HockfireSaws
Are the clutch covers compatible to do a 1/4 pitch conversion kit?
Yes. I did a video on that last night too. Check my channel.
👍👍👍
Have tried to swap echo filter to v modest or other parts for compatibly?
Tried a few. Most don't. I think the clutch is the only thing that does so far but I haven't tried anything but what I show in this video. It's like everything is tweaked just enough to not fit.
It used to be called chainsaw chainsaw and now its v modest.
Ha yep! Baby steps :)
I think this 2511 clone is not the same as the chainsawchainsaw, those are 2500 clones i think like neotec ncs2500, maybe im wrong but i have neotec and this saw that i need a replacement for 😅 neotec is still goin strong, this saw is so light.
@user-eo7vn1fy6c the company is same. U see the bar it's written chainsaw on it. That's how I found out.
The 2500 is quite common in the Chinese clone world with many variations made by several companies. Those are based on the Zenoah or RedMax G2500 made in the early 2000s. This saw, the 2511, is based on the Echo 2511T but has many small differences. Only a couple parts actually interchange with the Echo. It looks similar, weighs similar and performs similar. It doesn’t rev as high but I think it has more low end grunt than the Echo. And though there are power gains to be had with porting, it’s not nearly as big a difference as with the Echo. Cut speeds improve in the 20 to 25 percent range whereas with the Echo a 40% gain is possible with the right builders.
@HockfireSaws I own this v modest clone. And I saw video of urs abt conversion to 1/4 chain and sprocket. Will that conversion work on this clone as well?
I hope to port one very soon!
Handy little saw! Starts very well!
Thank you!
