I’ve met Shane a number of times, he lives in my hometown, and even graduated with his daughter who is an equally amazing athlete. The Nelsons are all very good people!

Thank you for that. Loretta also did another United Way where she sang Elvis Presley’s “Memories” but with some alternate lyrics for United Way. Was in the 1980s. I would love to see/hear that again.

Why do people live in areas where disaster happens on a regular basis and then are unprepared and surprised and upset when disaster happens and expect to be helped by the government and others instead of moving to areas that are much safer? Whatever happened to a bit of common sense?

The thin condensation funnel of this tornado was very deceptive, it is a good example showing the common misconception of "bigger = stronger." Its wind speeds reached >260 mph and were powerful enough to send cars flying hundreds of yards away. This is why the weather channel and EAS will always insist you take shelter immediately during a tornado warning, no matter what. Even the smallest tornadoes can actually be monsters.

How are these folks doing a year out?

We do have a weapon that would stop a tornado, and that is a nuclear weapon, but then it would cause even more damage, than a tornado and let's not forget all that radiation.
