A Glimpse of Nature | Big Bend National Park
This was our second time visiting Big Bend and the Chisos Mountains Trail system and we almost bit off a little more than we could chew. We arrived at night and hiked up to the campsite at BM2 to set up in the dark. The first full day we descended the mountain from BM2 all the way down the Window Trail and then to Cattail Falls. We had a quick lunch break and then went right back up the mountain arriving at CO1 campsite after dark. We clocked about 9 hours of walking and burned around 4000 calories that day alone. On the final day we hiked the South Rim Trail and then came back down the mountain on the Laguna Meadows Trail.

We put in where you took out. Went down to the toll road.
@@dbruce9035 That's awesome, I definitely wanted to keep going! Was that stretch pretty good too?
@@ExperienceEarth8 If the water is flowing decent. I have a video if you're interested. "Brushy creek, Texas kayaking". Not sure how hard it is to get to our put in spot now. They removed to road that went down to the low water bridge.
Looks amazing! Do you happen to know what the cfs was when you ran it?
@@LiveFolksResources Thanks! It was just under 100 cfs near Mason when we went.
I needed this clip this morning Not as good as being there, but it’ll do for today.
@@georgederocher8202 Thank you for the kind words! 👍
Очень красиво ❤
Thank you!

Those dudes r having a GREAT time..! Are those rapids at end of the south river walk?
@@juangrande7374 They definitely are! The rapids are at Rio Vista Park in San Marcos, Tx.
Looks super fun.
Thanks for posting this! Back in the late 1980s I canoed the North Fork of the San Gabriel from a put in west of Highway 183 and take out at the west end of the lake. Fun but too short.
@@WilliamMoyer-fo3nk Sounds like a fun trip, I'll have to look into that one. Thanks for watching!
🛶
Would you mind telling me where you put in at
No problem, we put in at Ranch Rd 1871 and took out at US-87 under the bridge. I hope you get a chance to get out there!
@@ExperienceEarth8 did you just leave a vehicle at both ends? Is there a good place to park? Sorry for the questions it will be our first time on the llano. Great video by the way
@@chadjeffrey3137 No worries! I understand, parking is always the trickiest part. That is correct, we met at the end and there is plenty of parking under the large bridge then shuttled everything to the beginning. There is a patch of dirt on the side of the road where 1871 meets the river that a few cars can fit on. We have done it twice now with no issues and even saw a police officer under the bridge when we were pulling out one of the trips and he made it seem like people do it often and gave us no issues 👍
Nice vid. Solid narration. I just camped palo duro canyon and definitely gonna check this one out next.
Thank you! Palo Duro Canyon is definitely on the list of places I want to check out 👍
64 sections on the bridge over lake Conroe.
Wonderful narration.
Thanks Johnny!
The music is a perfect fit. Definitely making love to Mother Nature. I dig it.
Appreciate the love man 👍
NICE!! that was Awesome👍👍
Thank you!
Wow. Gorgeous!
Thank you so much!
Hi there! My name is Kyle. I've been a professional wilderness guide in Canada for the last 20 yrs. I'm visiting Texas for the first time this November, and looking to meet up with some outdoor adventurers for a multi-day hike/paddle. Love your videos! Can you point me to any good resources to connect with people in the Austin or Houston area? Thanks so much!
Hey Kyle thanks for watching man! That's awesome you've been a wilderness guide for so long. I recently heard of a group called Austin Backpackers on meetup.com that has upcoming trips you can join. REI also has an event calender that sometimes includes camping. Best of luck to you on your adventures!
3:05 gorgeous a shopping mall would go amazingly here

Dope opening sequence 🔥
Thank you!
Very cool. I lived in Cedar Park when I was little. Cool to see what y’all have down in TX for whitewater.
Nice hike
Thanks for watching!
@@ExperienceEarth8 Yw . I live in the city . I’d like to hike there soon
How did you get back to your car where you drop your kayak at the starting point? I plan to go there this week
We met at the end, left one car there, strapped both kayaks to the other car and drove it to the start point. I hope you are able to make it out there this weekend it's beautiful!
@@ExperienceEarth8 very clever!
Nice video. How long did the trip take at that flow rate?
Thanks man! It took most of the day, but we went at a leisurely pace. It probably took us around 7 hours or so.
Beautiful trip and great video! Looking forward to doing this trip this year. Did you use a shuttle service?
Thanks for the kind words! We did not use a shuttle we just shuttled ourselves. I put the put in and take out in the video description for reference 👍
Thats pretty cool, I have that on my list, how difficult was it for you?
Thanks for watching man! It wasn't too difficult. We went in the winter though with light bags and I would imagine it would be a bit more difficult in the hotter months having to carry more water.
Nice!!!
Thank you! 👍
Guadalupe Mountains National Park is on my list. Just haven't made it there yet. Thank you for sharing this awesome video
It's well worth the drive. Thank you so much for the kind words!
You really captured the magnificence of the park and it’s scale. Impressive work.
Thanks man, I really appreciate it!
Amazing
Thank you so much! So are you :)
Wow Shane love, thanks for sharing this trip! Superb scenery and a lovely narration. Thanks for taking us with you on this route...I’d like to say that I was with you every step of the way; however, I have to say that after that lovely looking breakfast I just had a long sit down. Lol xx Please share more. Yanie xx
Hey Yanie! It's good to hear from you and thank you so much for the kind words. There will be more to come! 👍
Lucky devils.
I’m thinking about buying two of these. Pelicans. We are both beginners and going into cat 1 to 3 rapids. How did you feel about the stability of it?
Hey Justin, the stability is great! The only downside I will say when it comes to running rapids is that this specific model cannot fit a skirt, so it will begin to fill up with water, requiring you to dump it out after a few decent ones. Still a great option to get out on the water in my opinion though ✌️
New sub ! Liked ✌️✌️🤘😊
Thank you so much for the support! 👍
Yooo! I was working on planning a kayak camping trip out there soon. You have a normal spot you put in and take out? Also, about how many miles you doing per day?
We put in at Ranch Rd 1871 and took out at Highway 87. It was a fairly easy paddle to get done in 1 night camping and we went less than 10 miles a day on this one. Just make sure the cfs is close to 100 near Mason or you will do some dragging! ✌️
I like when a UA-cam video is done right. 15 minutes for this is perfect. Music throughout but not drowning out the river or talking. 🤙
Thank you so much for the kind words! It's comments like this that motivate me to get out there, film more and improve the quality of these videos. I wish you all the best with everything ✌️
Loved it! GREAT VID EARTHMAN!!! Keep it ⬆️
Lol thanks bro!! ✌️
Nice video. Enjoyed it!
Thanks for watching and commenting man! I'm glad you enjoyed it 👍
Fantastic trail, filming is gorgeous especially small details. Love it.
Thank you so much man! Your videos are very well done too 👍

Thanks man! I really appreciate the kind words ✌️
I like your camera work, dude.
Thanks man, I'm glad you enjoyed it 👍 stay tuned, I got more videos in the works!
Great video. I’ve done the Llano quite a bit but don’t recognize this stretch. If you don’t mind me asking where did y’all put in?
Thanks for watching man! We put in at Ranch Rd 1871 and took out at US-87.
Nice trip!
Thanks for watching! 👍
Great stuff. What time of year did y’all do this? Thank you.
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it! This trip was around June last year 👍
This was so enjoyable. You could film more of the actual camping part. Lol I just love you guys’ adventures. Great video as always. Especially like the part where you jump into the water! I love it. Thanks y’all.
Thanks for the suggestion! Yeah I realized that I haven't been filming as much of the camping part as I could be. I will definitely include more of that in future videos 👍
@@ExperienceEarth8 that’s cool. I just love camping and only get to go once or maybe twice a year if at all. Keep up the good work. I like the music too! Great job!

@@ExperienceEarth8 this is one of my favorites channels. I am looking forward to seeing them. Glad you are doing these adventures. God bless you
Great video. Thanks!
Thank you for watching Lori! I'm glad you enjoyed it 👍
Watching this from Arkansas and wanting to bring a group down. Where do you put in and take out? Is this the whole 19 mile run? When you camped, was it a public area? We don’t want to trespass at all.
Hey Vance, I have the put in and take out in the description. I don't know the exact length of the trip but it looks like about 13 miles or so on Google Maps and we had more than enough time to make it to the end on a 2 night trip. We camped in the River bed, which in Texas any navigable stream is public land and camping is permitted in most cases. It's worth the trip!
@@ExperienceEarth8 , thank you!
@@ExperienceEarth8, cannot thank you enough for the info. Finally found where you guys did this and look forward to a paddle. Still, am concerned about those night hunters…. So overnighting means islands only right? Everything thing else is private property no doubt.
@@vancepleasant9525 Hey, no problem at all I'm glad to be able to help! Here is some information regarding that specific topic. To my understanding, the side of the river bank is ok to camp as long as you can tell it is a part of the gradient that is under water when the water rises. I'm no professional on the subject so use your best judgement and good luck on the adventure 👍 www.texaskayakfisherman.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=220796#:~:text=The%20river%20bed%20is%20public%20land%20and%20is%20legal%20for%20camping.&text=Portaging%20obstacles%20such%20as%20log,boaters%20safe%20during%20their%20trip.
Do you remember what the flow was that day? We’ve done it at 650.
It was around 300 if I recall correctly. 650 must have been crazy!
