Blame it On The Golden Moon written by Raymond Wood as a tribute to our grandma that we never knew.
This song is in honor of our grandma who died during the Spanish Flu pandemic of 1918 shortly after giving birth to our mommy... Written by Raymond Wood music by Robert Sanchez
MARGARET Golden immigrated to America around 1915 married James Keating and had a baby girl they named Margaret Mary Keating born November 20, 1918
My brother Raymond wrote this song in honor of our grandma that we never knew. Thanks to Ancestry. Com we found some interesting history and a photo we love her story and without Margaret Golden there would be no Margaret Keating who later would meet and marry Raymond Wood, Chief Signalman and lived happy with her five children, and husband making memories in National City!

I hope this couple are still living a wonderful life together
The happy ending to this coming of age chapter of my life is although we didn't live happily together we did have a sweet friendship in later years.... Sadly my first love passed away a couple years ago.... I will be 78 soon and live happy and hold these wonderful memories forever in my heart... What a sweet time it was to be in love
I remember the time and you are so right it was a lovely time to be in love I am now 77
🤩 this is great. thanks for the memories.
Aww thank you
Back when San Diego was nice.
My father fought in WW2, Korea , & VietNam! Passed away June 22, 1972 ! Love ❤️ your song!!
Your dad passed away a month after my daddy. May they continue to rest in peace and harmony together!
I grow up in san diego in 70 I miss good old days
Born and raised, left because it got ruined, sad.
When it was Americas Finest City. I've been here 70 years, since I was 6 months old. I've seen the changes.💙
So clean
I remember as a kid, riding the ferry to Coronado. Long before the "Coronado Bay Bridge".
Oh, and the old wooden Roller Coaster at Mission Bay too!!
Soy una persona q me atraen esos años d antes los encuentro tiempos hermosos y de una calidad inigualable
Lived there in the '80s. Lots of great memories of a once beautiful city. Really sad what's happened there over the decades. Even the venerable Hotel Churchill is now a "homeless shelter" Thanks for posting this trip back into the halcyon days of San Diego.
I lived in San Diego 50 years. Had to get out in 2004. It makes me sad to see what San Diego has become. I miss the good old days.
Want to see luna once again
03:13 City Heights had some nice buildings. That area screams for gentrification.
Thanks so much for the memories. I was born in Mercy Hospital San Diego. You did a great job creating an accurate time machine of my childhood and early adult college years there. Had to move to the Sierra to get a job with my Biology degree and at 30, settled in Santa Barbara forever after.
Thank you for your nice words... Starting with me five of us were born at Balboa!!
Early college students are still teenagers, not yet adults in the full sense.
San Diego was much better back then. Less buildings and parking meters.
My little girls say "Hi" to you and Luna
Hello i know you???
I grew up in San Diego then. It’s so sad to see the contrast between what was and what it’s like now. Simpler times and we were all so much freer. The globalists have and are destroying everything.
When I picked up a phone to call a company, I got an actual person. Not "Press 1 for ....Press 2 for ..., etc" Oh I hate that.
Bom dia!
Beatles big screen epics am radio with deejays who cared about the music and us. Fifty cents was BB considered expensive for a paperback. Most i ever spent on a Dylan album.was 4.98 if we needed it in stereo.. Men aguing boxing or movie stars in a barber shop where s coffee pot was always perking Zacherle. Hammer scream queens. Lord it was heaven
Teen Idols, beautiful cars, Stu, Jeff, and Kookie on 77 Sunset Strip, Cricket on Hawaiian Eye, Matt & Kitty on Gunsmoke.Times weren't perfect, but I'd go back in a heartbeat.
I just hung my LPS 77 Sunset Strip and Hawaiian Eye albums found some frames on eBay and after all these years have them on wall for all to see!!

2:40 My personal favorite.
That is a lot of photos
Being born in the later half of the 50s I can say from my own experience that the times were much much better then. Cool cars, great music, a lot less senseless crime. The only thing better today is the technology and conveniences. I still would not trade the 50s or 60s time in exchange for the sh!thole we have today.
I was born in 1960, I enjoy looking at the fashion, vehicles & all things vintage. I can't remember many memories of those times. I do remember 1969 & a pair of jeans I wore had peace signs and daisies on the back pockets. Groovy! Far out !
Very interesting. Nice legs too!
I was pleased to see the phone book for San Diego and especially the listing for Newport pastry shop in Ocean Beach. The building still there but is/was a Sushi shop until the lock down. 😆
My dad was a marine Station Coronado so we did the National City 1954 to 1957 I remember walking around playing in the alleys and the neighbor boys and my sister we used to have the best of times there was no evilness
Grew up in National City!!
Watching this after driving the length of El Cajon Blvd yesterday brought tears to my eyes.
Those were some fun times and memories growing up!
my earliest memory in SD (Pacific Beach), ice cream truck (1956-7) from when my dad was stationed at SD in the Navy...
I was born in the late 60s, but always felt that the early 1960s was peak America on most levels. Before the Vietnam war and before the counterculture got a foothold on the country. They threw it all away. At least I got to experience the 70s and 80s, that was pretty much the last hurrah for the middle class. The average person on the street was much happier back then.
Astute assessment. There were very definitely two different 1960s!
"counter culture" took hold in the late 60s, yet didn't become mainstream culture until the late 80s. Two decades long incubation period, so two speak.
Great memories good ,& sad!! Still great to see. Vietnam Vet Tom
Its hard to imagine the time when California held the promise for a fantastic golden ERA till the democrats took over and have destroyed the economy; created the largest population of poverty in the entire country and thousands of homeless now.
I hill bombed that one time
Wonderful to see such familiar places. Born at Mercy Hospital in 1949 and except for a couple of years away, lived in San Diego County nearly all of my life. Thank you for putting this together.
Redondo Beach here. However this does bring back haunting memories of the 60's in California during much simpler times.
Superb photo montage. Moved here in 1981 for an aerospace job at Rohr Industries. Living in Chula Vista past 34 years. Also lived in Pacific Beach and North Park.
I grew up in National City
@@slightlycrafty , thanks for the vintage photos!
My dad was Navy and I was born in San Diego in the late 60s and grew up there until the mid late 80s. It was truly Americas Finest City and I had the best possible child hood despite having parents with lower middle class income. From Padres and Sockers games to Balboa Park and going over to Grandmas house in the awesome down town area where I could just smell the ocean and enjoy the perfect weather. As with most places from back then, especially in California, its all just gone to crap thanks to too much immigration and violent crime. People now just arent the same and San Diego will never be what it once was. Still miss it though.
You grew up in National City??? SUHI! ALTHOUGH I went to Catholic high school grew up on Palm Avenue
Now we are in collapse.
It's a very small world after all
I was told sandiego. Has lots of spirts. Errrrrie. Beautiful town
Maybe we are kinfolk.🙂
I don't have much family on my daddy's side but you never know!!! He started his life in Zanesville Ohio!!
Life was much easier less complicated please take me back!
What state ?
San Diego area
This material is priceless! It’s like going back in a time machine! Thank you Elizabeth Wood!❤
Thank you!!
“National City” caught my eye….loved video, especially the phone book. Sincerely, SD native 1956😊
Thank you for your nice words....National City my hometown!
Happy days indeed, compared to the daily horror of today.
I was born July 10 1960, these images are very familiar, I wish you well🙏
