beat kite kid at lvl 6: It will take a couple of tries, and a good bit of luck, as well as the right strategy. And lots of jacks. Kel will go first, then aubrey or omori, and hero is last. Your setup will be: Omori makes himself sad, and spam stab. kel will annoy aubrey, making her angry thus increasing headbutt damage. you don't want to heabutt too often however, as that dangerously lowers aubreys health, also you will generally want to use your energy for aubrey to attack twice. since omori used a skill, and aubrey has a damage boost from anger anyways. Hero will just spam jacks, this is important to do early on, as you want to lower the enemies speed. after that, he will mainly be useful for healing. again, obviously this fight is not intended for lvl 6. you will need luck and a couple of tries. If one of your party gets toasted, the try will pretty much be lost. another neat trick is, if kel goes first, you canmake kite kid angry, lowering his defense, after omori and aubrey damage him, hero can use massage to remove angry from kite kid, thus preventing him from dealing extra damage. if you used 2-3 jacks, his speed should be low enough. this will probably not work too well however, since this doesn't take other variables into account like which of your party gets damaged, and whether you use an item too heal, or hero. beating him at lvl 6 is definetely possible though! edit* I have no idea what charms I used, apart from the fact that I made kel go first and hero last
I didn't knew this guy existed until I was randomly backtracking in search for any side quest items. I completely forgot that ladder existed. I was like level 22 or something.
Lucky you! When I found the latter at the beginning I needed to know what was up there so I couldn’t help myself fighting him. I even killed his kite but he immediately revived it.
Apart from kids having to witness and live with this, what's tragic to me is whether or not if Mari died on impact. Sure she wasn't waking up but surely a paramedic could've done something about a measly fall down a flight of stairs if her heart was still pumping. But hanging her absolutely sealed the deal. Nevermind the fall killed her.
If anyone was confused on the meaning of SOMETHING and this entire sequence in itself, i got you 👍: SUNNY pushes MARI down the stairs. (His broken violin is at the bottom- I believe he threw it down out of anger of not being good enough as MARI, but I’m not entirely sure why it’s broken.) SUNNY didn’t mean to kill MARI. SUNNY brings her body to his room and lays her on the bed. BASIL comes into his room and sees what happened. SUNNY and BASIL get MARI’s body and take it outside. One of them ties a rope to the tree. They hang MARI’s body on the rope, making it appear like a suicide. SOMETHING symbolizes the guilt SUNNY feels after, well, murdering his sister (and lying to his friends about it being a suicide)- it looks like MARI’s eye and hair part as she is hanging. This is why SOMETHING follows him around for the almost entire game. Even in the first neutral ending where he moves away, SOMETHING follows him into the car.

SPOILERS FOR THE HIKKI ROUTE: There's no fucking way in hell that Sunny's parents didn't know what happened. They probably protected him from facing the consequences of his actions since Sunny didn't mean it. First of all, Mari had blood and bruises all over her body, hanging wouldn't have caused those blood and bruises over her. The parents had to have covered it up man. The suicide was just so suspicious that I don't think anybody would fall for it. (Just adding this in) In the game your father literally disowns you. He is never present and in the hikikomori route we see a man in the blacker space/black space 2 cutting down a tree. When you try to approach him he says this: "Stay away... You are not my son." Sunny's father literally disowns Sunny and leaves after Mari dies. That's a huge indication that he knew what happened. Sunny's mother also says this: "My only daughter... is gone. And you... are my only son. I can't... lose you as well." You can also hear her crying in the blackerspace/blackspace two saying "There, there... SUNNY... We'll protect you... Everything will be okay..." so yeah, your parents probably knew what happened and protected you from the consequences.
During this whole sequence, I was as much in denial as Sunny. The first pictures, I was just "what am I even looking at ?", then I was "wait... Mari died in the stairs ? and is that Basil ?", then, when I saw Sunny going down the stairs and dragging Mari back up, I was like "No... No no no... No fucking way..." And I kept being in denial until eventually, the three pictures of doom slapped the reality right across my face. And it's genius. This game made us feel what Sunny felt.
i think it's the aftershock trauma... somekind of denial to yourself, like.. "it's alright she will be fine.. she just asleep...she will woke up, everything will be fine"
if you look at the photo transcripts from the wiki, sunny is basically in denial. hes smiling because he thinks she's sleeping, and if he takes her to bed eventually she'll wake up and be fine again. obviously thats not true but a 12 year old brain gotta do what its gotta do

This whole sequence looks like it's one of the scenes that happen in Danganronpa when you solve the murder. Like really. It's just an infinitely more f*cked up version.
Started OMORI yesterday and ended up fighting this dude as soon as Pinwheel Forest unlocked. Kite Kid is a total pain in the ass without group emotion changers, Snack Time, and other stuff that I'm assuming unlocks later on, but it felt super rewarding to finally beat him after getting completely shat on about 5 times in a row (seriously, wtf are his jacks, I know I was probably underleveled, but they two-shot my Neutral Hero even when Kite Kid was Sad). Hell, this fight even broke some of my bad habits. I finally stopped relying on almost exclusively inflicting Sadness on the enemy/Anger on the party for every single fight, and I even started making use of inflicting Anger on the enemy (the only emotion I was too scared to inflict before, because scary damage numbers). Overall, I love this fight. Music's pretty good, too.

Mari had a recital that shes been practicing alot for. Mari is also a perfectionist which means she stresses alot about being perfect. Frustrated that Mari puts alot of stress on Sunny, he throws his violin down the stairs and breaks it. Mari then yells at Sunny for what he did, and Sunny accidentally in rage pushes her down the stairs which ends up killing her. Basil was there at the time and witnessed the whole thing. Basil doesnt believe that Sunny would do such a thing as they are best friends. Basil then comes up with the idea to hang Mari's dead body in the backyard to make it seem like a suicide.
How can I read it? I tried pressing shift and other keys but if I didn't have any photo to put on the album I couldn't interact with it at all and when you put the final photo you automatically wake up so :/

It is, though its not what you think. Sunny really does care about mari, thats why when the fall took place he smiled, thinking she passed out and that everything is going to be ok (its self coping). But sadly it wasnt the case.

Me too, I was so confused on how nobody bothered even asking about the damage Mari took. I wish they motioned something about this in the game, it would have made a lot more sense.
