Driving this Mk 6 Golf R on behalf of my buddy who owns the far. 2nd day there, first time in the car, 4th run of the day, 7th run on the track. Golf R Mk6 ~250 whp, 255/35/18 Continental Sport Contact 36 psi hot. 1-way bc coilovers with her springs. 034 rear sway bar. 3450lb 1/2 tank. 40.988. 1st place 4 cyl.

What all did you do to be able to rev this high? I’ve heard the k24a1 rod bolts are weak
Everything. Aftermarket rods, pistons, valvetrain, oil squirters machined into the block, balanced rotating assembly, etc.
At the very least a 50 degree vtc and ported type s oil pump.
I rev to 8500 with my k24a2 with the vtc gear and oil pump.
@@shawnmarques7117 k24a2 rods are strong but cranks are unbalanced past 8100 without it an ati.

It’s the k24a1 from an 03 Crv.
I’m looking at modifying my 02 crv in the future to around that 250-300hp range, love to know anything you have to say about modifying the a1 and transmissions/drivetrain choices
@@benbrooks566 There is a lot to learn. K20a.org was my most valuable resource. It's likely you'll be better off swapping in a K-series engine from another model, like the Acura TSX.

K20z1 or z3 a2 cams are better to use for vtec killer since they have a taller lobe on big lobes.

Has your stock exhaust gotten more raspy over time? I've seen people say that race headers room the stock exhaust
+JC M Yes it is more raspy. The packing material in the resonator is matted and shakes around as a chunk. So the muffling effect is basically gone and the resonator now serves as a fart chamber.
