While Willa, in this article, does not speak to the “5 point Mahamudra practice” formulated by Gampopa, here is a section from the text depicting Gampopa’s conversation with Phagmo Drupa that set the foundation for the practice:
drukpa.org/our-forefathers/phagmo-drupa/
Gampopa said to Phagmo Drupa: …You go to mountainous areas and so on, congenial places where disenchantment can be produced and experience can develop. There you arouse the mind thinking, “For the purposes of sentient beings, I will attain Buddhahood”. You meditate on your body as the deity. You meditate on the guru over your crown. Then, not letting your mind be spoiled with thoughts, not altering this mind-because it is nothing whatsoever-in any way at all, set yourself in clarity which is pure, vividly present, clean-clear, wide-awake!
Later, Phagmo Drupa formalized this instruction into the 5 point Mahamudra - from another text:Phagmo Drupa said: First, meditate on enlightenment mind; Meditate on the yidam deity; Meditate on the holy guru; Meditate on Mahāmudrā; Afterwards, seal it with dedication
Jigme Phuntsok quote:
I came all the way from the Snow Land of Tibet to the US. I find myself now in a place that can be called the second land of Shambhala. In fact, the actual kingdom of Shambhala is one of the five great sacred places according to the Buddhist doctrines. These five sacred places are: 1) Bodh Gaya, the sacred place located at the center of this world where all buddhas of the three times will attain full awakening; 2) Mount Wutai, the Five-Peaked Mountain in China, the sacred place of the east where Lord Manjushri now dwells; 3) Mount Potala, the sacred place of the south where noble Avalokiteshvara actually resides; 4) Copper-Colored Mountain or Oddiyana, the sacred place of the west, the Land of Dakinis, where Guru Padmasambhava abides; and 5) Shambhala, the sacred place of the north.

Not only do they complement one another, both are required for authentic inner awakening. Compassion is the heart’s capacity to be with the messiness of the world. And wisdom is the capacity of our mind that sees the way things are without any dist...

"When the baby grows up you give them steak"? What's that really important thingy about caring about all sentient beings as if they were your mother again? Do you make steaks out of your mother, Rinpoche?

out of compassion, mothers of past lives takes birth as steak to feed demons like us

@@gyurmethlodroe1774 Well how infinitely kind of them, Demon Lodroe. That's certainly one way to turn samsara on its head. But what about your bodhicitta, what about your compassion? Transforming all suffering sentient beings with your tantric magic and alchemy to be there just to serve your tastes and pleasures with their sacrifice does say something about you, though. And every woman who gets raped is just a compassionate being who took rebirth to feed the rapist? Every child sexually abused or locked in a closet in chains and beaten, likewise? Anyone you steal from was just there to support you, oh great demon tantric master? I'd say "go to hell," but as you admit you're already there, or will be soon, with a corrupted attitude like the one you share here. You place yourself at the center of a mandala with a view like this, indeed, but hardly divine, nor celestial, as you yourself admit. You are a disgrace to the teachings of the Victor and should be ashamed.

Who do you are to ask those questions? Are you a realized practitioner? Are you omniscient? if not, then look for a Guru that fits YOUR OWN IDEA on how a guru must behave.

@@tenzinthomasmasami hahahahahahaha so now Judging a fellow Dharma practitioner ? hahahahahahaaha @Gyurmeth Lodroe ignore the nonsense this person is saying, You are not a disgrace to the teachings, Not even this person called "Tenzin Thomas" with all of his crap questions and judgments, is a disgrace! hahahahahaha

    • @rybpo7

@@ibehl Since when are people not allowed to question in Buddhism? Especially a logical question like this one. (Disregarding the disrespectful comments) Claiming to want to save all mother sentient beings while contributing to their lifelong torture and ultimate death is illogical and hypocritical. I’m not saying anything against Rinpoche here. I have no idea what he does and does not eat and, as many people do eat animals, I have no issue with his example. I’m talking about Buddhist meat eaters in general.
