Doug was born in Airthrey Castle, Sterling, Scotland in 1959. His parents and siblings immigrated to Canada in June of 1965. Doug became a Canadian Citizen and joined the Canadian Forces in 1976 where he served twenty years in Canada and Europe. Doug is a veteran of the first Gulf War and was honourably released from the Canadian Forces in January of 1996.
He picked up his first guitar in October of 2012 for $100 at a local pawn shop at the age of 53. Doug is self taught singer, songwriter, musician and now recording artist.
Doug enjoys performing multiple genres of music from country, folk, pop, adult contemporary and ballads.

Take a walk from the front entrance of the Melia Cozumel resort in Mexico with the Canadian Troubadour and get a good feel for this resort, restaurants, beach and much more. The Canadian Troubadour Doug Smith performed at this resort and Wet Wendy's in downtown Cozumel while on two weeks holidays in Mexico. This is an all inclusive resort and Doug gives lots of hints and tips while visiting here.
