The Five Pinan Kata have always been a favorite of mine. Maybe it's because Funakoshi believed in them so much that he was known as the "Pinan Sensei" . I like that they are simplistic, easy to learn, and are full of great fighting application.

Pinan Sandan is another favorite of mine. It's a very powerful kata that includes low stances for leg strength and great fighting applications
I have learned many variations of the Pinan Kata ,over my many years of training, going to various places, seminars, dojos etc. and this version of Godan is one of my favorites. The bunkai or applications are awesome as well.

How to Escape / Defend Against a Front Choke, Self Defense Tips jiu jitsu. These are Two Easy Front Choke Escapes anyone can add to their Jiu Jitsu or Self Defense game regardless of age or ability. All you need is a little bit of practice. Repetition or Drilling is the Key Detail in any Escape. This is just a simple essential white belt survive the mount drill that helps you to remain calm in bad positions. If you get caught in a submission, escape, you slap and bump fists and start the drill over. When the timer goes off you switch rolls
