When I said "these East Asians", I was referring to the people from Southern China (Cantonese, Hakka, etc.) who usually has 20-35% Austronesian heritage. I was asking if you think that they are Pacific Islanders too because you think Austronesian = Pacific Islander. I would never refer Filipinos to as East Asians, they are completely in the Southeast Asian group.

Yeah Filipinos are Austronesian but so are the Malaysians, Indonesians, aboriginal Taiwanese and Chams, are they Pacific Islanders too? Even southern Chinese have Austronesian blood in them after absorbing the remnants of the Austronesians in mainland China. Are these East Asians Pacific Islanders? How do you explain the fact that Filipinos are small while Polynesians are huge? Polynesians received parts of their DNA from Papuans.
