    A lot of Christians are convinced that the church leaders are right and anyone who criticises them is wrong. I have been in churches where the pastors are likened to Moses and their critics are terrible sinners. When this dangerous attitude is preached or assumed, the church is in a dangerous place. Jesus warned about false shepherds and wolves in sheep's clothing. Sometimes the people who need to repent are the leaders of the church, not the dissidents.

    Go you good girl Meg! The Apostle Paul had to deconstruct a lot after his conversion. It took him years. The Right Wing conservative Christian church in the South was wrong to want to keep slaves and they are still spiritually blind in many ways. Can millions of Christians be seriously wrong? Yes. Look at your history. The spirit of bible belt fundamentalism is sadly not only in the Bible Belt.

    Something one should consider before criminalizing abortion: miscarriages will also be investigated as murder. Think about whether you want yourself held to those standards, or if you're an Abby Johnson who thinks she's better than other post abortive women because she believes in a god.

    You can't view slavery in the near east circa 1500 B.C. through the filter of the 19th century abolition or 20th century 1960s Civil Rights. They're not even comparable. Atheists simply like to minimize things into diminishing soundbites so the conversation appears un-needed when in fact, Slavery served multiple functions not the least of which would be the equivalent to our modern Prison system.

    I hope that you where aware that there are 500,000 to almost 2.5 million defensive use of firearms every year. I would also remind you guys that Jesus approved of his disciples to carry swords in one verse. As Christians we are supposed to protect human life so we can avoid tragedy’s in the first place, the argument here isn’t just for abortion.

    • @ministrymisfits
      @ministrymisfits Рік тому

      So you must not have listened because we addressed that verse in Luke 22. The verse tells them to get swords so that the prophecy would be fulfilled. The moment one of them uses that weapon Jesus rebukes them. The amount of defensive uses doesn’t justify the idolatrous worship of them or mean that they are a necessary evil either. I can be thankful for lives saved while still also speak out against the idolatry of guns & the issue of gun violence in our country.

    • @andygreen1769
      @andygreen1769 Рік тому

      Then what do you mean by give it to them double? Like do I give up my rights double because some freak shot up a school because a group of parents at the pta meeting didn’t agree for armed security a couple years before. I’m thankful for my God Given rights and I would die for yours, It’s not idolatry to tell people the truth about how important guns are nor is it intelligent to give up your rights because God gave you them in the first place. I’d be happy to research Luke 22 more but I didn’t listened to the entire video from of some of the inaccuracies I heard.

    • @ministrymisfits
      @ministrymisfits Рік тому

      @@andygreen1769 1. The give it to them double is in reference to Jesus commands in Luke 6. 2. Luke 22 is where the command to buy a sword is found, but its clear from that same passage that it is for appearance & prophecy not for actual use. 3. We are called to lay down everything, our rights included, at the Cross & in service of Christ. 4. The 2nd Amendment is not given by God, & as I pointed out in this episode, it actually is counter to what we see Jesus do & say in Matthew 26. The idea that it is a God given right is a product of Cold War Theology not Biblical Theology. CWT idolizes America, Guns, Capitalism, & Democracy over everything else, this is not a defendable position from Scripture in any conceivable sense.

    • @andygreen1769
      @andygreen1769 Рік тому

      I know its from the Bible, I’m asking you what where you referring to telling other people to give up as regards to biblical advice? Our guns? And the idea that we have God Given rights goes back to a French philosopher and before that ideas from Spain that the founding fathers adopted to build to a country where you can profess Jesus as God all you want without getting chucked of a building.

    • @ministrymisfits
      @ministrymisfits Рік тому

      @@andygreen1769 we should be willing to give up our rights if it’s to the benefit of other people, & even to the detriment of ourselves. That’s the call of discipleship. We shouldn’t be valuing our rights over our neighbors or even our enemies. So yes, we should be willing to give up our guns for the love of our neighbors. That shouldn’t even be a question. Just like we should be willing to sacrifice our wealth for the good of our neighbors. We just talked about this idea last week on our Biblical Giving episode & last year on our episode on Rights & Responsibilities. I don’t care what philosopher claimed this to be God given. Theologically we know that’s not the case. We definitely have a Godgiven right to life & Liberty but that’s all. Pursuit of Happiness is not a Biblically Based idea either. Further the freedom of religion was much more about the ability to have differing religious views without fear of government interference which had basically been unseen in the colonies. The puritans killed & persecuted other Christians and there has always been anticatholic sentiment among American History as well. Bottom line, America was built on humanism not Christianity. America has a major idolatry issue with personal freedom, capitalism, & guns. All of these things need to be called out for what they are.

    No trinity exists. As regards the doctrine of the trinity Jesus is very clear: He states to be ALWAYS in a PERMANENT EXTREMELY CLOSE UNION WITH THE FATHER "I am in the Father and the Father is in me". PERIOD! This is REITERATED by Jesus FOUR GOSPELS OF TIMES. You can see from Jesus' statements that He is ONLY WITH THE FATHER, this is even clearly SPECIFIED more times by Him (" I am not ALONE because..."). In other words JESUS - who is "WELL INFORMED" on this matter - IS NOT TRINITARIAN! We must trust Him! The trinity doctrine comes from a poor understanding of the four gospels: it isn't understood that they disclose three divine NAMES, not three divine PERSONS! This means that those THREE names must map onto TWO divine persons. Indeed 1. God and 2. the Spirit of God (God who is a spirit) are just TWO different PERSPECTIVES of the same ONE almighty God who is with Jesus.

      Why does Jesus instruct us to baptize in the name of the Father, Son, & Spirit? Why is the Spirit given different roles than the Father of they are the same? Jesus is very much Trinitarian since He is the very one that gives us the pictures of a Triune God.

      Whoever desires to be saved should above all hold to the Christian faith. Anyone who does not keep it whole and unbroken will doubtless perish eternally. Now this is the Christian faith: That we worship one God in trinity and the trinity in unity, neither blending their persons nor dividing their essence. For the person of the Father is a distinct person, the person of the Son is another, and that of the Holy Spirit still another. But the divinity of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is one, their glory equal, their majesty coeternal. What quality the Father has, the Son has, and the Holy Spirit has. The Father is uncreated, the Son is uncreated, the Holy Spirit is uncreated. The Father is immeasurable, the Son is immeasurable, the Holy Spirit is immeasurable. The Father is eternal, the Son is eternal, the Holy Spirit is eternal. And yet there are not three eternal beings; there is but one eternal being. So too there are not three uncreated or immeasurable beings; there is but one uncreated and immeasurable being. Similarly, the Father is almighty, the Son is almighty, the Holy Spirit is almighty. Yet there are not three almighty beings; there is but one almighty being. Thus the Father is God, the Son is God, the Holy Spirit is God. Yet there are not three gods; there is but one God. Thus the Father is Lord, the Son is Lord, the Holy Spirit is Lord. Yet there are not three lords; there is but one Lord. Just as Christian truth compels us to confess each person individually as both God and Lord, so catholic religion forbids us to say that there are three gods or lords. The Father was neither made nor created nor begotten from anyone. The Son was neither made nor created; he was begotten from the Father alone. The Holy Spirit was neither made nor created nor begotten; he proceeds from the Father and the Son. Accordingly there is one Father, not three fathers; there is one Son, not three sons; there is one Holy Spirit, not three holy spirits. Nothing in this trinity is before or after, nothing is greater or smaller; in their entirety the three persons are coeternal and coequal with each other. So in everything, as was said earlier, we must worship their trinity in their unity and their unity in their trinity. Anyone then who desires to be saved should think thus about the trinity. But it is necessary for eternal salvation that one also believe in the incarnation of our Lord Jesus Christ faithfully. Now this is the true faith: That we believe and confess that our Lord Jesus Christ, God's Son, is both God and human, equally. He is God from the essence of the Father, begotten before time; and he is human from the essence of his mother, born in time; completely God, completely human, with a rational soul and human flesh; equal to the Father as regards divinity, less than the Father as regards humanity. Although he is God and human, yet Christ is not two, but one. He is one, however, not by his divinity being turned into flesh, but by God's taking humanity to himself. He is one, certainly not by the blending of his essence, but by the unity of his person. For just as one human is both rational soul and flesh, so too the one Christ is both God and human. He suffered for our salvation; he descended to hell; he arose from the dead; he ascended to heaven; he is seated at the Father's right hand; from there he will come to judge the living and the dead. At his coming all people will arise bodily and give an accounting of their own deeds. Those who have done good will enter eternal life, and those who have done evil will enter eternal fire. This is the Christian faith: one cannot be saved without believing it firmly and faithfully.

      Why does the Doctrine of the Trinity matter? 1. The trinity distinguishes our God, to the outsider it may seem that Christians, Jews, and Muslims, as well as Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses and other pseudo Christian cults all worship the same God. It is in fact this trinitarian nature that distinguishes the True God from Facsimiles. 2.The Trinity makes sense of the old Testament. We often see us and we in regards to the Godhead in the Old testament, Gen. 1:26-27; 3:22; 11:7; Isa. 6:8 to name a few. More than 100 times, the Old Testament mentions the Spirit of God. It also teaches of a coming defeater of the enemy (Gen. 3:15), a Son of Man appearing with the Ancient of Days (Dan. 7:9-14), a Son to be revered (Ps. 2:11-12), a virgin birth of a child called “Mighty God” and “Everlasting Father” (Isa. 9:6), and the angel of the Lord acknowledged as God himself (Gen. 16:10-13; 22:12-16; Ex. 3:1-6; Judg. 2:1-4; 6:11-24; Zech. 12:8). Drawing from Exodus alone, the Gospels identify Christ as the “I Am” (Ex. 3:14; John 8:56-58), the rock in the wilderness (Ex. 17; 1 Cor. 10:4), and the one who saved the Israelites from Egypt (Jude 5). The risen Christ interpreted things concerning himself throughout all Scripture (Luke 24:27) and even used Psalm 110:1 to prove the Jews’ innate assumption of a second person in the Godhead. 3. Framework for the new Testament. Christ was not a created human who conjectured a self-originated way of coming to God. While he was fully human, he was also fully God, as he had been from the beginning (John 1:1) and will be forever. This is difficult to explain. But the Trinity helps. It also helps explain passages in which all three members of the Trinity appear. The Father sends the Spirit in the Son’s name (John 14:26). All the Father has is the Son’s, and the Spirit declares these things to us (John 16:15). The Father sends the Spirit of the Son into our hearts (Rom. 8:9; Gal. 4:6; Titus 3:6). We baptize in the name of the Father, Son, and Spirit (Matt. 28:19). Through the Son, we have access in one Spirit to the Father (Eph. 2:18). And the Father’s love, the Son’s grace, and the Spirit’s fellowship are always with us (2 Cor. 13:14). 4.The Trinity is the basis of Gods relationship to the Church. As the church, we are the household of the Father (1 Tim. 3:15), the bride of the Son (2 Cor. 11:2; Eph. 5:27; Rev. 19:7), and the temple of the Spirit (1 Cor. 6:19). 5.The trinity Explains out Mission As we see the Father sending the Son and the Son sending the Spirit, so we see our own Great Commission as a continuation of the Trinity’s mission in the world (John 17:18; Matt. 28:18-20). We too are sent-according to the foreknowledge of the Father, for obedience to the Son, in the sanctification of the Spirit (1 Pet. 1:2).

NO SIGN OF A THIRD PERSON “The words I say to you, I say not on my own but from the FATHER who DWELLS IN ME.” ONLY THE FATHER IS WITH JESUS " ...no MAN knows, no, not the ANGELS in heaven or the SON, but THE FATHER only knows." (Angels, Son, but NO SIGN OF A THIRD PERSON). "God is a spirit" NO SIGN OF A FURTHER SPIRIT "no one ever saw God" NO REFERENCE TO A THIRD PERSON "When the Son of man comes WITH HIS HOLY ANGELS, He shall sit upon the throne of His glory." NO SIGN OF A THIRD PERSON "I am in the FATHER and the FATHER IN ME" NO SIGN OF A THIRD PERSON "those who will believe in me through their word so that they all may be one, as you, FATHER, are in ME, and I in YOU. THEY also may be ONE IN US..." NO SIGN OF A THIRD PERSON "I am not ALONE because the Father is with me" NO SIGN OF A THIRD PERSON " On that day you will know that I am in my Father, you are in me, and I am in you." 1. FATHER + 2.SON + 3. APOSTLES " You neither know me nor my Father." NO SIGN OF A THIRD PERSON You can go on... 2. A. Spirit of God and B. God are two different perspectives of the same almighty God. A. God is here ONLY in the form of a spirit "God is a spirit". This means there is just a spirit-presence of God, but NOBODY is here in reality. Due to this absence Jesus is the only Owner and KING of heaven, not God. The Spirit of God (Holy Spirit) is everywhere and is almighty. B. This means that God in his fullness is NOT here, He NEVER was here. "The world has not known you". This is why "no man has seen God at any time". "Invisibility" has nothing to do with that.

    Love it! Great to see (and hear) my friend Steve on your podcast! He is such a great guy and we love having him as part of our community in Rockaway Beach! It’s really awesome that he’s wearing a T shirt from my coffee shop!
