Ain’t gonna lie……I hear a contractor talk like this I will be more than happy to find another contractor that does quality work, maybe a little pricey, however does give me a quality itemized budget.

Is that why the contractor next door wanted to charge me 4k and take a week to install 800sqft of laminated plank flooring... I already did all the demo and floor prep and purchasd all materials... the floor just needed to be placed. The flooring only cost 2k...

and yet every contractor can never deliver on the timeframe they themselves set.

I’m a one and done kinda guy, and a skilled craftsman is worth 3 times what the rest will charge you. They are not a value at any price

There's nothing wrong with looking for value . I would say I'm offering quality and they're looking for cheapest price. When you get people to the point where they see value that is when the check book comes out !

Charging for quality is great, refusing to be transparent and throwing a tantrum by refusing to help the customer understand the pricing is just stupid, unprofessional, and lazy.

Thanks for vid and good contractor's perspective. The prob is every human with a y chromosome thinks he's good at stuff. I hired a recent contractor to install a very simple zipline setup in the backyard for one of my dogs that was jumping the fence. Me googling how to install a post in concrete put me past what his knowledge was, so I paid him just to go away and I finished the job myself. He kept asking to come back and "make it right" but there were so many issues with this small "test" job there was no way I was having him do anything else on my property. Asking for itemization is part of doing due diligence as a homeowner.
