Another Guy's Garage
United States
Приєднався 30 січ 2024
I created this channel to share my project cars and builds. I'm a DIY guy who is learning along the way through repairing, restoring, and upgrading my classic muscle car (1971 Chevelle) and my son's gasser (1957 Chevrolet). We do all things transportation, go to car shows and events, and even tinker with some new and old tools, toys, and other fun automobile related stuff. We're not a professional shop, we don't have fancy equipment, and I do things the way that you would in your home garage. Everything we do is on a budget, and we do this for fun, for your entertainment, so please enjoy.
Please like, subscribe, and share!
We'll see you in the garage.

Easy Hydraulic Throwout Bearing calculation for shims Transmission Concentric Slave Cylinder Install
Today we're installing our CSC (concentric slave cylinder) also known as the hydraulic throwout bearing for our Tremec TKX 5 Speed. This is an FTE throw out bearing, 300k mile service life bearing, that provides a 20% lighter clutch feel than a mechanical set-up... per the guys at Silver Sport Transmissions (SST). In order to install correctly, you need to set the depth. I will walk you through how I measured the distance between the bellhousing face and fingers of the pressure plate, as well as the face of the bearing to the face of the transmission in order to calculate the proper depth, or "Cushion".
Come along we we chip away at the odds and end of getting this 6.0 in my 1971 Chevelle.
Enjoy the video, more to come!

Today we're installing our Holley 302-2 LS conversion oil pan on our GM 6.0 liter junkyard motor. This pan is designed for tight spaces...like the ones in muscle car engine compartments. This is one of the last steps before putting my new engine into my 1971 Chevelle (GM A-Body). Come along we we chip away at the odds and end of getting this 6.0 ready to put into my car. Today we're installing our bellhousing on our GM 6.0 liter junkyard motor. We are using the Silver Sport Transmission or SST recommended method of mounting a dial indicator to the flywheel and measuring the runout, or the alignment between the end of the crankshaft and the center hole of the bellhousing. This will ensure that the input shaft of the TREMEC TKX transmission we are installing is w...

Very informative and thanks for the dowel pin information
Thank you for watching! I appreciate you! Happy holidays!
I know this video is a bit old but... 1. Thanks for the video and great job. 2. I know from experience the included bolts do catch enough thread to hold a 3rd Gen HEMI but I finally remembered (between rebuilds) to pick up longer bolts and another flat washer, to add thickness with the included washer. So now I really feel safer with the mounting.
Thank you for watching! I'm with you, more engagement, the better. Thanks again!
You can save yourself a lot of grief by placing a mirror where you can see the back of the bellhousing from the front. Great explanation though.
That's a great suggestion, thank you! Thank you for watching!
On those BTR valve seals , do you tap those in to seat them properly? Or just pushed by hand ?
I was able to push them by had with no issues. I thought I remember watching in another video that someone was designing a tool to push them down and recommended not tapping them . I thought it was this video by Speedway motors "LS Engine Cam Swap with Speedway Motors BTR Truck Norris Camshaft" but they just mention "make sure they are fully seated, but didn't show it. I'll keep looking and send you the name (not sure I am allowed to link) of the video where they "pressed" them in with a wrench.
Search "BTR changing valve springs" ua-cam.com/video/vmeY3fuYDvY/v-deo.htmlsi=2FJONSP5s5pppcg5 The audio is a little messed up, but they talk about pressing in the springs. I did not need to do this, as they pushed right on for me. I hope this helps!
We men don’t like to ask for help. I was good until you started with the math - oh boy. Not my thing. That’s why I don’t do this kind of work. lol 😂
Thank you! The team at Silversport Transmissions is awesome! They have been beyond helpful anytime I had a question or needed some insight during the multiple installs of my transmission. Thank you for watching!
Great job! Informative and entertaining! 10lbs poop in a 5 lb bucket. 😅
Thank you for watching! I appreciate you!
Would’ve never noticed until I bought it!
Or if the Energy Suspension kit you bought from Amazon has one of each and you didn’t notice… ask me how I know! Thank you for watching!
Replace all nuts and bolts grade 8 try make heads same size plus i made it could turn head a s/camm a slack adjuster and two pillow block bearings lot of videos on utube i cut the top tube off put square tube over up stand to high used flanges bearing any best for Christmas
Great upgrades to the stand! Thank you your commenting and thank you for watching!
@anotherguysgarage-OG your welcome
Bro I can’t explain how helpful this video is. My SST Bellhousing was too small to fit on my TKX(it was .002 too small). So I have a factory Bellhousing I’m remeasuring and your video has helped so much. Thank you!!!
You made my day! Thank you for the feedback! I’m glad the video was of value. Yes, I’ve experienced the same with the Silver Sport bellhousing. Everything seems to be an interference fit; both dowel holes as well as the mating surface of transmission. Thank you for watching, enjoy your TKX!
You always want to go with the one piece push rods, ask me how I know.
Absolutely! Thank you for watching and thank you for commenting. I appreciate you!
As always, lots of detail, ya, the secret sequence was cheesy, but it kept things interesting!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for watching!
I want one!
Sweet old survivor! Thank you for watching!
You can get much smaller dial indicators!
Thank you for the suggestion and thank you for watching!
thank you for your knowledge and videos TRUMP USA 🇺🇸 MAGA
Thank you for watching and supporting the channel!
Wow! That truck looks better than new! Mint!
It does! I’m pretty sure it wasn’t as nice as it is now, the day it was born. Thanks for watching!
Love to see cars getting driven! It is sweet!
Us too!
Great idea putting the date on your thread sealer! Great video!
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for watching, way to catch those details!
Hi. Nice vid. I’m the same way on the condition of boxes. Looking to buy the same hitch. Just wondering if you have a kick sensor on the tail gate? If yes, any issues? Thanks in advance.
That’s a great question! To be honest I had to ask the wife, she thinks no, although I found online that it was standard on the XLE. That said, I don’t remember seeing any sensors and it absolutely doesn’t impact the operation of the hatch/tailgate when you use the button. I’ll doublecheck this evening. Thank you for watching!
I just verified, our Highlander does not have the sensor and I saw in a video that an installed trailer hitch will interfere with the operation of this feature and it should be turned off. Thank you again for your interest!
Thanks for getting back to me and verifying those details.
Correct. And it is a standard sae. Any bolt with a decimal # on the head is a metric bolt, our world has left the mechanics out and they had better wake up,do hard to find a shop to repair cars anymore .
Thank you Doug great input!
Nice work… you held the clutch alignment tool in place while tightening. Soo many guys let it droop down and then wonder why their trans input shaft doesn’t line up making it harder. Good job!
Thank you for the comment, I very much appreciate it! Thank you for watching!
The star pattern is always key! lol heavy breathing chapter 😂Nice work 👍
Thank you! Ya, it was a long evening of editing, getting used to a new program...couldn't figure out how to edit out my panting, so I thought I would embrace it. I'm glad you liked it, thank you for watching!
But why not just one really big blower
Not sure, but it looks and sounds awesome. You can see this beast getting tuned on the Steve Morris Engines channel. Search “twin whipple Camaro” and it will come up. Thank you for watching!
That video is worth a watch, just to see it get tuned. At one point he loses a pulley.
Well done, good to know. Thanks
Thank you for watching!
Ya, best so far, but low in the shorts world.
Im sure Tremec honors warranties on high performance, beat thehell outta trannies
Get yourself a quality pair of knee pads for around the shop. You can then get rid of those mats.
Thanks Mike, that's a great recommendation...I just need a lift! HA!
Dude if you spin the crank and thus, the dial indicator 180° from a mark, the top dial will then be on that very same mark. The pin of the indicator is a straight perpendicular line and the tip of the pointer is exactly 180° from the point is the knurled knob. Just turning the dial until the top of the pin is lined up with the original line is far more accurate then drawing random eyeballed marks across from each other. At the end of the video you started at an arbitrary line and zero. The indicator landed nearly perfectly at 180° from that zero point with 7° run out. As such there’s no point in doing a second 180° because if you zero the dial then 180° must be 7° off so we can just divide by 2.
Thank you Chris, and thank you for watching all of the video. I appreciate you. You are absolutely right, but what is hard to see is that my dial indicator didn't line up directly through the center of the circle, otherwise yes, the plunger ends would have lined up exactly 180 degrees from each other. Thank you again!
Great video !
Glad you enjoyed it, thank you for watching!
My TKX will be here next week! Going to use your video to do this!
Thank you for watching. SST really made it easy. The hardest part is getting the dial indicator in the bellhousing. My last engine was in spec as is, I hope yours is too, makes it simple!
Thanks it’s very informative.
Thank you for watching, I appreciate the feedback!
I watched all the others. Yours is most thorough video on the subject
Thank you very much! I appreciate that!
Like a mirror
Ya, not too bad considering how bad the casting was…truth is, you’ll see very little of it once the truck intake goes on. Thanks for watching!
Nice BUT it could really use the "Two door delete" option!
He's a young guy...he has time. Right now focused on going fast...maybe he'll give it a DD Speed shop delete! HA!
Well that's it now I'LL have a BONER for at least a week
Lots of cool cars! Thanks for watching!
Those o so sick fitty 6
yep!
what manufacturer?
The first is generic made in Taiwan, the second Pittsburgh. Thanks for watching!
Must be one of them chrome-chineseium sockets, it's 2024 I guess we all got at least a few mixed in there somewhere. You know, all you ever here about on the news is fentanyl, migrants, and "viruses" but the ubiquity of garbage ass tools thats the real crisis!
People keep saying they are the same as the "expensive" brands...they need to stop, because they aren't. Thank you for watching!
Those engines have nice cars
Yes they do! HA!
Nice Fairlane.
Indeed it is!
All badass but the Nash wagon, the Metro and the Chevette are my favorites..
All very cool, good choices! Thank you for watching!
That's a chrome socket you painted black if it split like that
i’m pretty convinced that’s what some companies do especially on amazon i bought a cheap set and my chrome sockets are beefier
The video is legit. I can totally see why you would think I painted it. But as Miguel says in his reply, the company that produced it, is basically doing just that…passing off a general purpose socket as an Impact socket by making it black. Thank you for watching, thank you for commenting!
I like a good deal as much as the next guy… but tools I plan to use a lot, I’m willing to pay up if there is a real quality difference. My kids won’t have to buy them, they’ll last. I agree!
Lots of folks saying they are the same...no, they're not. Thanks for watching!
@@anotherguysgarage-OG I couldn't see the lettering clearly. What was the brand that split?
The first socket socket just says Taiwan on it, no brand claiming ownership. The second socket has “Pittsburgh(R)” printed on it.
Really awesome marching the patina on the new parts to the original, very well done!
Glad you like it!
That wagon is bad ass.
It totally is!
You have got to love a gasser. I’m a fan of the Blue glitter paint on the roof, very cool.
Right on!
Very cool!
Mike Bilina is a wild man!
Cool!
Yes it is!
Lots of detail, great closeups and explanation of what to expect.
Thank you! I know its long, but hopefully you took advantage of the chapters if you didn't watch end to end. Thank you for watching!
Cool! Great show!
Glad you enjoyed it, it was a great show!
I love those movies!
Nerd
YEP!
Glad to hear! Thanks for watching!
