I'm always open for criticism. I would love to know why you think that. 👍
Because if you're teaching him to swing with one hand with a stance that is ridiculously wide he's not only not gonna have power but half the balance. Not to mention it's only gonna make him want to do this is a game because that's how he's being taught. So you're just slowly giving him bad muscle memory which is going to affect his actual hitting stance.
I disagree with your statement. Just to clarify, when you are at your launch position, your feet should be as wide as the length of your bat. Also, the split grip drill is designed to reinforce bat path, not to teach kids to swing with one hand. Both of these drills are traditional methods that I used frequently while playing for the Royals and San Francisco Giants.
