I think mukite was born in late 18s because he died 1987 it is not logical to say that he was a live for over 2 century again he participated in the kenya independence War how is that possible
She was not a chief, but Commander In Chief of Warriors (Jama). she was old by then, normal for old women in council. She was impeached after Kibata Dance incident with her warriors.
I adore Shujaa Stories 😍

Wow
We need to delve deeper into such heroic African legends for the sake of future generations. This is Vital Knowledge, even Today in Kanzalu Hills the name Syokimau is revered by many, she was a big deal in the 1800s
Thank you for your insightful comment! She truly was a remarkable figure, and her influence continues to inspire. Our goal is to ensure that legends like Syokimau remain alive for future generations to learn from and celebrate. Stay tuned for more stories of African heroes, and we appreciate your support in keeping this vital knowledge alive.
What an impressive & highly needed project. Especially, as contemporary feminism focuses on African female leadership of the West & West Africa. I live in Germany & a lot of young Black women, when it comes to historical African queens/women leaders, only know about Ya Asantewaa & Nzingha Ngola. East & Southern historical African women in power are completely overlooked or just unknown 😢
Thank you for your thoughtful comment! We're glad the Queens of the Swahili Seas project resonates with you. And you are right! There’s a lot of focus on the queens and legendary women from Western Africa but very little is known about the East African ones, in this case Kenya. We hope projects like this can help bridge the gap and bring these powerful stories to light for more people, especially young Black women in the diaspora. Thank you for your support.
Yet they claim Africans didn't know how to write before coming of the white man.
Thank you for your comment! That is true, we were made to think that Africans never wrote yet there are several communities who have been writing centuries before colonial times. It’s important to challenge these misconceptions and highlight the diverse ways Africans have documented their histories and cultures.
Rume is also name for man in Egypt.
Thank you so much - you are doing great work which deserves much more support. Though Wikipedia referenced your channel, they basically snatched the first half of your script - not cool
@@masehoart7569 Thank you for watching and supporting us. ❤️🙏🏼 And thanks for that observation as well.

Wonderful 👍 wow amazing

Proud to be a luo
Great story wow
Thank you🙏❤
I am sure it's a nice story for the people of Kenya but...honestly all these women warriors stories are the same: queen Ngola of Kongo, queen Malika of Oyo, Pokou of Benin, Asantewa of Ashanti and many other. If you don't know them, there should not be any expectations that their stories will be of any interest to anybody
Thank you for your comment. While many women warriors share similar themes of resilience, each story reflects unique cultural and historical contexts.
Any Moraa here please we have a meeting🤔🤔. I feel the power inside me😂😂💃💃

This story is not true. Wangu was a colonial administrator/collaborator.
Yes you are right, she worked for the colonial government which is seen in this story where she collected hut tax. She is however recognized as the first woman to be chief in the Kikuyu community.
