Sculpting ceramic monsters by hand every day!
Making a Beetlejuice Sandworm Inspired Ceramic Lamp - Handbuilding Process
Let's make a sandworm inspired lamp (from one of my favorite movies, Beetlejuice!) out of ceramic clay! For the glaze on this one, I used Amaco Cosmo's Dark Star inside the mouth, and Mayco Dark Magma for the stripes. Things you should know: The cosmos glazes RUN! Either create a lip/barrier to hold the runners, or accept whatever will be (which is what I did with this one, I like the drool effect!). You also need to only use this on one side of the clay, leaving the other side bare otherwise the cosmos glazes will bubble. You can see a few tiny bubbles around the teeth on this guy. For the dark magma, it off-gasses! What this means is any clay or possibly glaze nearby will be affected, which turned out fantastic for this sculpture as I wanted the "dirty" effect on the bare clay inbetween the stripes. Once you know what to expect you can plan around it and actually work with these "downsides" turning them into unique design elements.

Dude.. I Made Beetlejuice's SHRUNKEN HEAD Guy!
Переглядів 22714 днів тому
The original shrunken head guy (Harry the Hunter) from the first movie! I sculpted this before the new Beetlejuice Beetlejuice movie came out, was so happy to see how many new Bobs there were in this movie. I think my Harry turned out pretty good, and a big thanks to my dad for scouring the thrift store for a black-hair barbie that I could scalp for the hair! Looking for the uncut, real-time pr...
Making a Beetlejuice Snake Head to go inside a DRINK DISPENSER?!
Переглядів 11021 день тому
Weird is not uncommon around here, but this one takes the cake and I owe the wild idea of creating a floating monster head to put inside a drink dispenser all to my dad. Today I'm sculpting a Beetlejuice snake head from ceramic (well, porcelain). This is a halloween gift for him, and it came about it the most unexpected way, we won't be building a sculpture from scratch but modifying an existin...

I made a ceramic BABY FRANKENSTEIN MONSTER!
Переглядів 103Місяць тому
It's spooky season but honestly everything I make is creepy no matter what time of year it is. Can you be cute and creepy at the same time? I think that was accomplished in today's video! I was feeling a bit lonely this day, and I think Frankenstein's monster must have lived a pretty lonely life as well so in honor of Halloween time I made a little baby Frankenstein monster out of porcelain, th...

Sculpting my dog into the Cutest Bubble Baby! 🐶
Inspired, inspired! I found this cool lightbulb and thought, that would be great inside a sandworms mouth. I wasn't aiming for an exact replica on this build, and the glazes were tricky (especially in the kiln!) but I think it turned out pretty sweet after all. What would you have done differently?
Harry the hunter was probably my favorite looking character in the original Beetlejuice, so I decided to memorialize him on my studio wall forever to keep me company.
What type of decals do you use, and do you put them on before or after kiln
These are overglaze decals, etsy has lots of them! You put them on after the glaze firing, and they go back in the kiln at cone 019 for a few hours.
The voiceover in this is brought to you by illness! I hope I don't sound too rough, but my ears are also not in top working order so in theme with my sculptures, perfect imperfection is what I was aiming for. Enjoy!
Thanks for watching! If you're looking for the live stream of me sculpting this little guy, check this out: ua-cam.com/video/Z6jq0GMbQDI/v-deo.html

Why do you have no likes or comments 😢
Because I am brand spankin new to youtube :)
Where’s the end result! WTH lol
This was just the making of, porcelain needs to be fired in the kiln but it's done now and I've got a new short showing it!
she's got a new short, I just watched it, where she is wearing a snake ring and another ceramic ring...they look good. I'm in the process of making ceramic rings myself, was looking at vids here on YT to see if anyone made some successfully hers look pretty successful: they have a good form and functionality is good also.
@ Thanks Alexis! Lots of ceramic ring inspo on etsy too. I’d suggest getting a ring mandrel to make them on, then you can see sizes as well as it being easier for form building.
Sigma ohio skibidi alpha 👌
I don't feel old at all :)
Lol
It would be more movie accurate if you add polish to the eyes to make them more slimer and shinier
There is a clear glaze on the eyes! :)
Magork. Lol. IDK
I want one 🔥
You need some!
A gold accent does sound beautiful
Creative and beautiful but not realistic to wear
It can work maybe on thumb but yeah, for the fingers would require smaller or tighter curl
It is actually surprisingly comfortable and wearable!
I think it's adorable
thank you!
Look up "rough earth snake". They are tiny snakes that are harmless. I thought there was an earthworm in my kitchen, but one of our tiny dogs brought in this tiny snake I never knew existed. 💙💜💙🫠
awesome ❤
Thank you! Cheers!
@@ackiri 😀

😮 what kinda clay do you use
These are made of porcelain clay!
Blue/green
I bet they'll turn out so cute! And a ser in the darker shades would also look adorable
thanks, I think so too! both the light and dark colors have metallic crystals so they’ll look especially cosmic ✨
Mini❤

Ahhhh that is so cute ❤️
thanks!
Such a little guy. XD
the smallest of guys 🥰
Pretty and functional! What more could you ask for?
I agree!
Are you team polymer clay, or porcelain?
Which is your fav?
Should I make a bigger version?
Do you care if something is functional or nah?
Have you ever bought anything on etsy? Do you prefer shopping there or someone’s actual website?
Good on you I’d personally say a personalized website because there nicer and you would have more control but this is all a personal opinion you also might get more recognition on Etsy since it’s so popular
@@9cko340 Good points for sure! I'm with etsy for now but will be building my site soon :)
Etsy is more likely to get you sales because of its search bar, but i would do both. Diversify your platforms as much as possible, too.
