Tens of athletes have today gathered at the Nyahururu stadium in Laikipia for the new registration exercise being conducted by the Athletics Kenya (AK)
The exercise is set to help establish a reliable database for both up-coming and season athletes across the country.
According to AK officials, a brand-new athlete registration system involves all personnel involved in all levels to register and receive services offered by Athletics Kenya.
Coach Francis Kamau, who is also an AK official noted that information that will be provided by individual athletes will help track down their performances both locally and internationally, and also help in curbing doping among athletes and their cahoots.
The new registration system will help reduce paperwork, undertake improved efficiency, create centralized information and enhance enhanced communication.
Registration is being rolled out in 16 centres across the country: Iten, Eldoret, Kapsabet, Kaptagat, Kitale, Keringet, Kericho, Bomet, Kisii, Kisumu, Mumias, Nyahururu, Nyeri, Machakos, Ngong, and Nairobi.
