Tommy’s Fender Strat with a Telecaster neck!
Read these listener comments but they are mostly out of context. The singer was a terrific showman, much moreso than Tommy live in 1974. His hair is a bit weird but back then Roy was the band focal point and very cool. Tommy was so shy, he barely looked out from his stringy hair live. He's a great guitarist for 1974 era. He's no EVH or any of the following guitarists 5 years after Tommy died. I bought TB albums, DP too. He was a far worse Ritchie Blackmore fill in than nasaly singing Joe Walsh. A little light in the loafers too as you can see. A fun band in context, that's all. Sad he died so young. He was ready to improve and if he stayed clean, he would have been great in the next few decades.
Absolut det finaste gitarrsolo som jag har hört av Deep Purple!
❤❤❤love tommy bolin
I saw Deep Purple MKIV at The Spectrum in Philadelphia on January 18th, 1976. Sadly, Dealer wasn’t in the set list. It was a great song, because Tommy played some great guitar on that one. I thought they really made a mistake by not including Comin’ Home in the set list as well. It is arguably the best song on Come Taste the Band and would have been a great way to introduce Tommy to the audience right out of the gate instead of opening with a Ritchie tune (Burn). I have looked into it a lot, and have never come up with any evidence of MKIV playing Comin’ Home live. Oh, what could have been in terms of MKIV.
I love Joe but this is there best song its gotta little kick to it .
Today, 48 years ago - rest in peace Tommy
great great funk music
❤❤Love David Love Tommy❤❤
ol roy with his cke nail goin tommy over there being a straight bad ass
I learn guitar jamming from this album. My band still plays in this sport, the spirit on the jam. A lost art.
He's so out of tune as always.
um, I'm guessing you're not a fan? haha
@@davidstreeten1382 He's great on studio recordings like Burn, Stormbringer etc.
What a wonderfull and beloved family❤
Awesome ❤❤❤
This guy has a bit of potential...
Just a tad lol
Tommy Bolin's early death was one of the greatest tragedies in music history.
Teaser is such a good album, it's a pity that DP just played one song from it per concert during that tour.
Fantastic performance and nice to see Deep Purple MK4 stuff is now being shared. I am a fan of Deep Purple MK3 and MK4. Big fan of Tommy Bolin too.
It looked like Tommy was allowed to be himself in the James Gang. When he was a member of Deep Purple the Come Taste The Band was a great album. When asked to perform Purple old favourites he wanted to do them in his style. Management insisted he played using Blackmore note for note. That was a mistake as they should have left him to perform them his way
That was doggone purrfection!
I loved Tommy in Deep Purple (come taste the band 1975) and saw James Gang at Dayton’s Hara arena and they blew my mind with a 20 minute Standing in the rain guitar solo to open up. R.I.P Tommy Bolin
They were really good look at the crowd imbrace them Tommy was a wasted talent him and Paul Kossoff died in 76 they both were the same age 25 .I just wonder if they knowed they had the world in there hands .Drugs has killed many bright stars and good people.
great sound forever❤☆☆☆
Wild dogs, great 👍
Wow! What a sound. This music takes me to another world, a beautiful world, a world with plent of music. Thanks Tommy. 😊🎵👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Tommy Bolin 😊
Ritchie and Tommy were and still are my all time favorite guitarists! I've seen them both live...unfortunately I saw Tommy play live with his solo band with his brother Johnny on drums and Tommy was pretty messed up either from drinking or drugs or both.... They cut the show short. Broke my heart to see Tommy in that condition. I have his two solo albums, plus Come Taste The Band, a Zephyr album, Moxy album, Alphonzo Mouson album, Billy Cobham Spectrum album...... Been following Tommy since the 70s when I a teenager. I still listen to his albums to this day on my turntable!! Brings back the best memories for me!!! Long live Tommy and his amazing music and talent!!!!
Tommy Bolin doing the great Nick Gravenites original Composed for the 1st Butterfield lp
I saw johnnie play drums at the Colorado rock and roll hall of fame concert some years ago, a tribute to Tommy bolin, with Joe bonomasso, warren hayes, zephyr and energy members, and johnnie’s Tommy bolin tribute band. God bless
Tommy Bolin 👍Lead singer 👎
The Great Tommy Bolin - one of the best. His last tour was with Jeff Beck. A guy on the side of the stage said Jeff was watching and said, "Wow." Indeed, Jeff. Your guitar 🎸 traveling companion. Deep Purple, James Gang, Billy Cobham with Jan Hammer. Teaser record, Private Eyes (!) etc. I saw Tommy, fortunately, at Winterland in S.F. opening for someone. So glad I caught you Tommy. Bless you 🙏 brother/ guitar 🎸 forever!
When I hear how Tommy Bolin plays, I ask myself why he joined Deep Purple! He played a completely different style of music on the guitar than you would expect from a rock band! He didn't fit in with Deep Purple from the start.
It was a business decision of sorts as he was working on his 1st solo LP at the time. The other was that when they all played together the chemistry was there that was not with other guitar players they auditioned. The LP shows it worked, the live shows with the legacy songs were another thing entirely.
@@tommccarthy3052 WOW were you there back then? Around 1975?
@@maxgrim1672 I was 16 in '75. & starting my own guitar journey. I was already a Deep Purple fan & also loved Fusion so I'd come across Tommy on the Cobham LP & the Mouzon LP then got the James Gang LP's. I saw Tommy with his band twice in '76 & saw Deep Purple the 1st time in '74. The Bolin.version of DP did not play where I lived. The things I'm referring to are well documented - management decisions, etc. - tho' that was all well after the fact. There was a Deep Purple archives release of some of the jams/rehearsals - when they were all in LA - where you can hear that it all meshed. Sadly on tour there was drug abuse by Tommy & Glenn that affected the shows, etc. I think the DP gig did help raise Tommy's profile overall & his 2nd solo LP - more focused than the multiple musical styles on the 1st - seemed to be getting him somewhere then...boom, gone just like that.
@@tommccarthy3052 OK, again for you! You weren't there! You can write whatever you want! Or did you see the contracts? And if you were 116 years old! You weren't there!
@maxgrim1672 So what's your real issue here? There's no reason for your response, nor to be disrespectful. I was not in any way disrespectful to you in either of my comments. My original response to your comment was simply to relate a distilled version of what I have read in articles & heard in various docentaires over the years based on the "why" question in your otiginal comment. No more, no less. I was clear about that in my second comment & specifically noted that it all filtered out after the fact - in some cases well after the fact.. It's a long story that you can go look into for yourself if you wish.
Везде успевал! И в фонтаны нырять, и на танцах драться
I grew up drinking and hanging out on the grave with my friends tommy bolin what is the superhero To us. I wonder where that ax is right now where that fender is I hope it’s with his brothers.

Meraviglioso. Tommy ❤️❤️❤️❤️
So sad your life was short!❤ RIP
When I moved to ssc Johnnie was across the street at signpros. Walked over because of his ride, all the history. Made friends with him instantly, just a downright good guy. Will miss him and his kindness. Side note, lived next to the barbershop and that old man who owned it was Tommy's Godfather. Made friends with him too, just amazing the regular guys those 2 men were. Both will be missed greatly!!
Killer jam, reminds me of Live at Ebbetts Field 74...cool band, RIP Tommy...
We going to learn this tune
Very cool , R.I.P. Johnny
In the arms of the Angels ,, Johnnie i will remember you as long as i can remember .
Rest In Peace Johnny
Rick and Johnny were friends I grew up with. Tommy was just a brother. He didn't matter to me as Rick and John were friends of mine. They were both a blessing in my life. Accepting of all. Friends looking for friends. A warm fuzzy with a greeting and a smile. That is rare and always has been. Say a pray for my friend (s).
My dad grew up with them too. I’ve also meet the Bolins and been to many ‘Bolin Fests.’
