How are you approaching capital raising in 2024? Going for angels/VCs or choosing the bootstrapping route?
So you want developers to not only think about HOW to satisfy the requirements client is dictating, but also “is it something worth being built?”… Sure…. You are fucked up. And here is why you are fucked up - before developer can think of “is it worth being built” developer has to understand the business and all the business entities and relations between them and it takes time to learn. This knowledge does not come after first meeting with a client, this knowledge comes after at-least 6 months of working with client and working closely. I am developer and I was on project where client did not want to be engaged with me - I asked questions, but person who responsible for requirements just did not want to answer those questions and ignored me. I was laid off after one month. You mention that you saw many meetings where developers were “just writing down notes” - well, that is how you being introduced to project and start learning about it. If you expect developers to sink inn all business model of business and relationships between all entities of the business during the first meeting - you are fucked up.
