OK, serious answer; besides "That's not how cameras work" being a running joke (since a Scout, now in college, held a pose at Deer Lake), compact cameras, like Sony DSC series, and Olympus Tough, allow me to rapidly transition between hands on and shooting video - as I discovered at an Eagle project last year, when transitioning from shooting with a Sony prosumer to being useful, and back, proved to be problematic. The right tool for the job at hand.

Remember back in the '70s, and even the '80s, and the one guy saying, "Kids, wear a bike helmet." was Eval Kenievel? It was a different time. I am looking to get my own, so I can mount a camera on it, and other things, that they frown on if you do that to a rental helmet.

I still like it better than the Blackstone.

Good question, which my mushy brain is struggling with. I have been meaning to make a full video on restoring the rails. My quick, cheep answer is, have lots of clamps on hand to help you get the wood just where you want it, and work patiently. I'll try to dig up more information for you, and get that restoration video in the can. Thank you for your kind words and interest.

Nearly my entire content is Scouting; I had plans, but Covid knocked a lot of travel on the head, and so good habits died, and some of the other projects I just haven't gotten to because I still have lots of Scouting video to edit yet.

We're back from our most recent trip, but computer problems are preventing me from exporting the two videos I made (full length an 3 min), so I got around to 2022's ski videos, which re up now. I think I know what you mean, because some times people don't get it. Fortunately, many of our Scouts do, and enjoy seeing themselves in action.

As long s your videos do not ID scouts, and do not reveal future event dates/locations, your videos would be Youth Protection compliant.

@@haroldellis9721 yeah, it’s great seeing that some of the youth nowadays still want to be scouts and like enjoying the outdoors. I don’t upload videos on this channel but on our Troops channel I upload some of the events we do as a troop.

Nice. We have had three trips, with a Troop now run by a friend I was in Troop 10, Cos Cob, with. This was my guys' first Scouting adventure, and now they are nearly done with Eagle.

Glad you asked. Where are you? There are various Local Clubs that have their own web site and schedule. Typically, you can show up, sign up then and there, and run a course or more. If you go here, you can find a local club (or two, I belong to WCOC and HVO): orienteeringusa.org/events/clubs/ Membership in USOF and/or a Local Club is not required, but of course is always welcome. A few events do require preregistration, but that is very rare.

Nothing, darn it. You might not know this, but my Mom was an English Teacher, and English is my native language. Next time is a new time, this time is an old time. Couldn't correct it before I spent nearly a day uploading this? OK, I am thinking of fixing the spelling/text problems, and using a map zoom to cover the problematic opening camera work. Thinking.

Agreed. I think this video would a lot more interesting with FLIR superimposed over conventional, but that will have to wait a year. Meanwhile, I think I may make some other FLIR comparison videos of various things and situations.

Yes, that particular white pin owns several trucks. It also has a few trunks.
