i dont know if you did this or not , but using hydraulic cylinders , mates them ..... parts from one cylinder to the next may not interchange .... its a good idea to make sure each cylinder goes back with the pistons and rods that came out of it ... could be the reason the second one was so tight and could be the reason your arm still falls down(very slowly)

RE: the mishmash of nuts...more than likely the case over the 30+ years since it was made, the owners replaced the nuts with whatever was found laying around at the time.

Good job. Where were you able to find seals for the hook or wiggle wire cylinder. I need to do the same thing and can't find a seal kit for it.

Very good job. I have a block of hardned something that it took 20 minutes to drill a 3/16 hole with. But i cant tap it. Maybe if i soften it, it will work. It looks like stainless but it is magnetized.

Don't worry, soon all things will be made offshore and will all be metric cause America is the only place left where imperial is used.

What is the function of the wood? Does it act just as a clamp or does it keep the weld going? If you put just a wooden clamp in the middle, would it be the same result?

Would you recommend fixing the controls, seems to be stopped up, or buy a new one?
