The Belmont Project video #3
Переглядів 32 тис.10 років тому
This video is about the Takara Belmont a continued vid of 1-2 that I posted a few weeks ago. I finally got done with it and will be starting on my other chair soon. I would like to thank Leonard Plating for chrome plating , A&W Upholestry for the leather work and Kevin Coffey for doing the base. I was able to do the hydraulics and reclining mechanism work myself and put the chair back together....

This is my Takara Belmont it has a few issues a broke frame that goes around the back rest, head rest broke and the brake was not working. I decided to post my steps because I was looking for a video that could help me but didn't find. This is my first time ever breaking this chair down so I'm learning as I go. I've soaked the chrome in vinegar and coca cola over night and polished it with stee...

Fading top to bottom using Oster 76ers and Andis Fade Master
Переглядів 22 тис.11 років тому
This is a bald mid fade cut with Oster 76ers and Andis Fade Master. I used the red #0 guard to cut down the bulk at the top against the grain. Which is the same as going with the grain with a #11/2 blade. Using one hand to cut with and the other to hold my HD Cam I made it happen. Thanks to my client Andrew and thank you for watching. This is just another way of doing it that will give even ble...

This is a BRIEF (how to) video of a flat top using the Oster 76ers with the 1 1/2, 1A, and 1 blade on the fade. And then finishing the fade with the Andis Masters. Using spritz or a holding spray to firm the hair for better sculpting of the FT. Pay close attention to the free hand technique this is what gives the cut a clean well sculpted look at the end not to mention crisp. Thanks to AC for al...

I recorded this video and shot the photographs using a nikon D300 w/ a 50mm lens on a tripod. B.Smith has been my client and good friend for 14 yrs notice how Mr. Smith moves his head while I'm cutting, this is one of many challenges barbers are faced with. The Key thing is to know your client and make them feel comfortable in the chair. Me and B. stay clowning with each other and talking that'...
and two o rings
I have an older 50's 0r early 60's Belmont barber chair..I need a replacement key brake...do you know where I can get one?
My Belmont Takara is stuck, do you have any advice how to separate/pull the piston from the cylinder?please give me a clue...😢
Mines is stuck in place too i have it a all apart but the silver cover i think mines is a decade older then this one 😢 wont turn i dint even need it to go up n down lol😅
@@davidcutz1526 finally I made a puller/tracker, and the piston n cylinder finally separated 😁
Yea i need to find a tool to get that last part so i can tear it all apart and see why it wont move! Hope you get yours moving too man these chairs are beautiful
So this is the basic concept of a Koken barber chair? The the chair pump without hydraulic fluid before hand?
I’m restoring the same chair with my wife. The main issue I’m having at the moment is that the pump is seized inside of the cylinder.
Have you happened to find a solution for that yet I was gave a barber chair like it with the same issue
I have my Dad's belmont from 50s/60s. Starting to restore it. What would you suggest for fabrich. I assume it is vinyl.
Hello, I have a question. Is it worth buying a Belmont Takara electric barber chair if I know there is one to buy? Yeah its all working and his asking for 250€
Hey buddy what’s you recommend to polish? Like mirror??
Nice Belmont. I have 6 of them I restored. Anyone with a headrest for sale?
Sale dis chair india
Amazing job. I’ve seen part one part two and part three I got six chairs and I desperately need help.
Will any hydraulic Jack oil work? Local stores here carry lucas universal hydraulic and transmission oil. Same stuff?
I think any hydraulic fluid will be fine.
Quiero un sillón de barbero de esos antiguos 😢
Hermoso ese sillón y su restauración.
How much oil do you put in the oil reservoir? I have a Koken and I put oil in but then it started to leak, I’m thinking I maybe overfilled it? It wasn’t leaking before....thanks in advance sir.
Fill oil to the middle of hydraulic tube
Rasheem Steele The Barber/Photographer Ok thanks! I’m guessing I must have put a little too much in then? Meaning when I pump up the chair the excess is overflowing I’m assuming? Thank you for your fast response I appreciate it.
Rasheem Steele The Barber/Photographer And what do you mean by middle of hydraulic tube? Just asking for clarification...
Thank you! I have watched at least 10 videos so far and you are the only person to specify the fluid used and where to put it.
What did you use to clean 🧼 all those parts
Wow....what at amazing job and chair. Could you give me on how to remove the handle pump from the chair. Just the top part. Thanks
Very well done sir

Great job.
woooow wooooow job es genial los vendes' puedes mandalo a mexico amigo''?
Awesome job! I have a similar chair with a broken plunger rod. Your videos were very helpful to me ... Thank you very much
That music...
Very good
it doesn't matter as long as you have your end results...nice fade
i like to use a Modified 0A blade to freehand afros and flattops.
very goooood job,
hi wanted to know what kind of liquid you put the hydraulic system? Also the amount that is inside Koken'm putting together a chair and I would like to know greetings and thanks from now.
@4:52 it shows the liquid type thanks for watching.
I found that the Lucas was a bit pricey. I used an auto zone generic universal hydraulic oil. Mine was really low and I ended up using about 2 quarts on mine.
3:00..."you're" not "your."
I have a koken presidential wants the going price point for rechroming
Well, I'm here to tell you that you did one fine job on that barber chair. The King of Prussia would be proud to sit in that damn chair.
my barber chair don't go down how do you fix the hidraulic or how do you take it apart
Is it possible to get the sizes of the two o-rings that used in your hydraulic I thought it might be on the receipt if it is still accessible that would save me a lot of time & work on my Takara Belmont no.5 THANK YOU mmurphy6141@yahoo.com
Sorry I don't remember the sizes but good luck.
I’m looking for these rings. Did you ever find them Michael?
how are you gushing an0a blade.when your clean up technique started with 1 blade? to much work.but nice. it
What's best for hair lining?
Really nice work. You know what you doing! I see a lot of people still are struggling to figure out how to use the 76's correctly and efficiently, but you have it! Keep it up bro. Nice video
Much respect I appreciate.
I'm glad to see another barber fade from top down. It's just too much extra work to set lines and have to remove them. 👍🏻👍🏻
That's how I do it as well! Pretty much flawless. Love it!
how do I seperate the pump from the cylinder housing? just pull and slide it out or is there way to unlock it
pull, rotating side to side it's tough.
+Rasheem Steele The Barber/Photographer awesome I'll try that. how does the big chrome ring come off? is it press fit with cardboard shims like the smaller one? thanx for the help
Rasheem Steele The Barber/Photographer - yo could you tell me how to fix the break if it's not working?
THIS LOOKS GREAT! YOU DID A REALLY GOOD JOB.
Your information on the Takara Belmont hydraulic is very helpful. I have a yr.1950 model # 5 Belmont and looking for a (HEADREST) that has two post 1"1/4 in. center to canter so if someone comes across one Please contact at mmurphy6141@yahoo.com Thank you
nice job.
both cuts of the hook. that first one is art. you don't see that in nyc and I wouldn't get down like that but to see it at work dope. 2nd video, the line up crisp. stay up fellas one. #BROOKLYN
How did you get the pump handle off and back on?
what did you use for the bald guideline @5:17
00000 blade
Nice fade
lets talk call 7042929942 I'm restoring a chair
were there springs down in the cylinder with the pump?
No there were no springs bro just rubber bumpers , watch all the videos they will explain and can you post a pic or video when your done please thanks. I'd there us anything else message me Good luck !
I'm currently restoring what looks like that exact same chair
Thanks
But that rubber bumper thing not in mine, so I don't know
+Joe Sellers my chair doesn't have rubber bumpers either but does have a large spring at the bottom of ge cylinder. I assume they changed and modified these in the later years as mines a '59. I think Rasheed is the earlier version with the rubber etc.
