Steven was a fellow diver friend of mine. I was with him on his last Uk dive at Eyemouth prior to him leaving for the States. He was very excited about diving the Andrea Doria. Tragic when we heard the sad news. Clare is a fantastic person and fellow diver friend of mine. She was very close to Steven.

Sad it took literal lives of people for us to realise that keeping free, wild animals in captivity as show props does not do them good mentally. These animals are intelligent, they need their family and space in the grand oceans. It's like locking a person up with abusive peers and using said person as a show prop- that person would suffer tremendously, psychologically and physically. Why do we think animals would react any different. Its not surprising the poor guy did this- animals lack moral judgement that us humans have, so we cannot blame them for how they react when we put them in these awful situations. Rest in peace to the people that lost their lives and I hope we learn from this. Thanks for your video

As somebody who has gained the PADI rescue diver qualification, it's pretty clear that he either killed her or left her to die (by going to get help). He is not telling the truth when he says he lacked the training to rescue her. You would have needed to regularly dive to 30m/100f and can go below to perform a rescue. 50m+ is dangerous on air but 30m is not a deep dive, it's within the normal range. She was unconscious laying on the sea floor at 30m, so there was no risk of them sinking deeper or her "attacking him" in a panic. Every rescue qualified diver would be confident in performing a rescue in such a condition. You are also trained by PADI to rescue unconscious people and to resuscitate them on the surface. Provided that the swimming/diver does not inhale the water in a panic, we humans have a clamping mechanism in our throat that prevents us inhaling water when unconscious and submerged. He would have been trained to surface with her and to attempt to restart her breathing. This does not require chest compressions, merely clear the airway and blow air over the face, then the body/lizard brain automatically opens its airway and attempts to breathe. He had a comfortable time window to save her. For an unconscious person sitting on the floor on her back, you could go down and drop her weights, then swim with her to the surface. A quick dive to 30m from the surface would not require a decompression stop and it seems he was midway in the water column already, so it should have been a simple low/no risk rescue. At best, he lacked the will to save his wife, despite having the training and experience to do so. At worst he killed her.
