Half life is the time taken for a drug to reduce into its half of its initial concentration. Here penicillin follows first order kinetics.This means that a constant fraction of drug is metabolized or eliminated per unit time.(that is, with each half life, the concentration decreases by 50%.) For eg. Suppose we are giving 100 mg of penicillin, after first half life(0.5 hours) it will become 50 mg , after 2nd half life it will become 25 mg , after 3 rd half life it will become 12.5 mg and will continue like this.
