Saiga 308 ( 7.62 x 51 )
Saiga 308 I picked this up about 8 years ago. I bought it brand new at a gun show. Thank it was under 500 Dollars at the time. I converted it from a hunting style rifle back to the AK 47 version.I bought a conversion kit and did it myself. And added a folding stock and a new safety that I can use with my thumb. This is a really nice Rifle,,,,hope you enjoyed the video.

Right on! I've got a Lee Challenger kit, and it does work nicely. I'm loading 9mm, 38/357, .223 and 300AAC for my AR15's. It doesn't save a lot of money, however allows me to shoot much more for what I'm saving. It's good to see guys getting into this, and also willing to show others in a easy to digest method.
Fudd jacket !
Nice video! Thats me soon reloading the 6,5 Swedish at the attic. Just ordered the same Lee press.🇸🇪Has the press served you well the 12 years that has past?
yes it works great,,,,I still use it ,,,,

Awesome vid Airborne brother. "Thumbs up" # 82, how about that? I was 4/68th Armor 79-81, went to PNCOC in 1981. Then A Co, 1/504th 88-90, jumped into Panama. Went back to Panama in '95 in a reserve unit and stayed in the Clayton barracks. Lotsa memories sparked by this video. Oh yeah, I'm a Cheney, or I should say my mother's maiden name was Cheney. We shared a grandfather with Dick Cheney going back about 6 generations or so.

I'm late to this thread, but I have to say that you misread about the Lee deluxe set. There are two dies. One is full length sizing, and the other is neck size only. No lube needed for the neck sizing die, BUT you should be using lube with the full length sizing die. Only with the dies marked "carbide" can you put the lube away. If you don't use lube with the full length die, then scratches on the inside will occur, (ruining the die), much more press effort required, and possible stuck case. Titanium Nitride dies also should have lube if you want them to last, but stuck cases less likely.
The RCBS small base AR die set works better. Is sizes the cases smaller so you will not get a stuck case.
When were you in Panama, I was there in 1982 to 1984, Co A 2/187
Sorry for the late response I got there in July 1984.
Thank you for your service.
Yo DO have to lube...WTF? Not so much with Redding dies.
I was in A 7 1 for basic and AIT then jump school the 2/504 in the sxout/recon plt from 6/86 - oct/89. great video. The best unit I was ever in.
Good tutorial!

Excellent video, I have been thinking of reloading for a long time as well; your video sealed the deal.. Thanks buddy.
Thanks for sharing.
I'm looking for information on how to calibrate bullet seating depth and crimp configurations
Hey thanks for taking the time... this is the kit I'm looking at. Will be a first for me as well...
If he doesn't need lube, that means he's neck-sizing only, NOT full-length sizing. If that's the case, then those bullets CAN NOT be loaded into a semi-auto rifle; not safely or easily at least. Neck-sizing only is for cases that have been shot out of your gun and have fire-formed to that chamber; this is meant to achieve maximum accuracy in a bolt-action rifle. Anyone thinking of doing this REALLY needs to read up on it first.
Thank you for the information of the Lee "Ultimate" 4-die set. I believe this set in .308 will be great for my LR-308 (full length sizing) and my Remington 700 Target Tactical (neck sizing) in one kit. Maybe a .223 set will be for my Savage 10 FP (neck sizing) and an AR (full length sizing). Great video, and thanks again......Airborne.
I just made my first 10 shots on this Lee set. Caliber 308 Win. Nosler Accubund 165 grain. Powder Norma 203-B 44 grain. COL 70.68 mm. Then it's just a trip to the shooting range.
Actually according to Lee and Hornady you want to crimp bolt action, not because of it being magazine fed but for the internal combustion of the powder. Not allowing the crimp can cause a slight loss of velocity and also may change the pressure levels of the round during combustion. Both books are pretty good reads. The Hornady is great cause it tells you alot about the rounds themselves and the Lee's book of reloading has tons of great knowledge about a variety of things...you should check them out. If using bolt action, I would suggest only neck sizing for a couple reloads as it forms the round for the chamber of your rifle if your going to only be using a single rifle for your .308 reloads...greatly improves accuracy and brass life.
Good vid , short and simple how to guide . thanks man
My Breech Lock Challenger Kit is in the mail. I am taking the plunge to. Thanks for a good orientation video. Looks like I will also enjoy building my own ammo.
