Back in 1994 the BBC featured the Flight For Life and the making of Flight For Life on their launch of the second series of "How did they do that?" The programme got over 13 million views and also inspired many to venture into the world of microlighting.

I had a trike and then a mosquito years ago. I have a doodle bug in pretty good shape. I wonder why nobody has produced a rig like the Flylite Ranger? Seemed like a great supine foot launch rig. Thanks for posting

Does the trike itself fold for transport like the peabee?
Hi Ben. My friend and I are currently flying the Aeros Nano ant with Combat T wing and Cosmos 300 motor in Australia and loving them. We are also very interested in the Nine and wonder if it has any sailcloth choices other than black for the leading edge (not good in Australia's high heat and UV), and material other than Dacron (which it appears to be in all your videos). Thanks for developing what looks to be a real game changer in Microlights. Lance
Hi Lance, Yes the leading edge cloth can be made from ODL, PXB or NCV laminated cloth if required. The reason for using Dacron is to avoid beading water droplets and an increased stall speed if the leading edge gets wet. Dacron is also a little more elastic which can help with handling. Ironically, black is the most UV resistant colour in the Dacron range. Yes it fades to grey but the pigment coating on the individual Dacron fibres outer skin blocks UV better than any of the other pigments, including white. With the absence of rain, wipe clean fabrics will be fine, I'm sure. I did notice that Aeros have tested one Nine made from ODL sail cloth, Sergey, the designer, said it flew okay and didn't notice any significant difference. Cheers, Ben.
Thanks very much for the quick reply Ben. You've given us much much room for thought and an interesting insight into the properties of black Dacron. I've since discovered that our Aeros agent here in Victoria has a Nine on order with the laminated cloth so we'll see how that performs when it finally gets here. These are challenging times with unbridled egos attaining positions of influence and power; the senseless attack on Ukraine being just one example. I feel very privileged to be able to jump into the little trike and, for a short while, leave all that silliness behind. I trust that you and yours stay safe and above all Happy. When are you going to share some of the stats?
Not long. I can outline most of the performance figures now. Max speed in straight flight: 83 mph (indicated). Max straight and level: 80 mph. Min speed: 28 mph. Hands off trim: 55 mph. Max climb: 5 m/s. Pilot weight: 95 kg. Instruments checked against gps runs into wind and down wind. There is a new film coming out by one of our customers who had his first flight on the Nine last weekend. Look for Paul Batterton's UA-cam channel: PaulieB796

Regardless of numbers, it makes it very easy to fold the trike to put into the back of the car. We are developing a new style trike for the Nine wing so the Adam trike we put on was purely to see what performance we get from the smaller engine. More info will follow later.

You can here engine/prop pitch change. It must clean up the air.
It was such a pleasure to fly the Machine. I can't wait for the production machine (WING and TRIKE) to come out.
