The Sherman had better maintainance, crew survivability and able to be easily modified for various roles The 76mm variant made it able to stand against the Panzers, the Jumbo variant made it easily survive most field gun calibers due to more armor (along with keeping it sloped like a BMP's armor)

The french and English panther trails should be taken with a giant grain of salt as we know how bitter they are about losing early ww2. I think these trails from neutral countries are a much better view in to the effectiveness of tge panther

The American went for quantity over quality while the German went for quality over quantity. A single panther can knock out 10 - 15 Shermas.

The shear numbers of Shermans and T-34's just overran the superior tanks of Germany. The late Shermans especially the Easy Eights were much better. German tanks: from the F2 canon on, they were destructive (Panther IV F2 series). Panther V, VI the Allies had nothing but volumes against them tank to tank.
