Browns Canyon at 1100 cfs :A guy, his dog, and a boat
I don't ride shotgun all that often when boatin. But this was a wonderful float with my pal Jayson and his fam. Jayson grew up on the water and was awesome enough to share his river knowledge with me. This was my first (2nd) time seeing the Canyon and really set me up for success this Summer.
this was 5/25/24 and 1100 cfs.
I only have maybe one or two more rafting videos to go. I promise, the flood is almost over.

Rafting Browns Canyon with the Gang
Переглядів 5521 день тому
Another delightful trip down Browns Canyon, this time with some of my Denver people. We've been boating a fair few times together, but this was our first time down this stretch of water. CFS was around 750 or so, nice and splashy. This is how most of trips looked this season, with everyone staying in the boat and cheesing it the whole way.
Rafting Browns Canyon at 800 cfs: getting Dad on River
Переглядів 74Місяць тому
This was a special trip to me. I love getting my family on the water, high or low water, and this trip brought my Dad out. He, his friend, a young family of four and yours truly had a delightful float. Some clean line, some less so. But at the end of the day, we crushed it. I mention that it is the guides responsibility to take clean lines in this video. Paddlers play a big role in how a trip g...
Rafting Browns Canyon at 1600 cfs: Finding Onion Hole

Nothing like a good float with the family. This time around was Kimberly, my Mom, two of her friends, and yours truly. The water has been changing pretty quick, each run is crazy different than the last. So doing some "explorative rafting" is the name of the game. This level is not current, within a week we dropped over 1000 cfs. For up-to-date readings, check in with the USGS website or CO dep...

Well dang, what a start to the season! I have never seen the Arkansas River ripping like this. On this trip, we have some chaos, some clean lines, and some great rapids. If you are looking for an idea of what Browns Canyon entails at high water, this is a great reference. This trip was brought to you by River Runners Buena Vista. Rowing Westwater at 6500 cfs: Clipping Skull Hole
Переглядів 843 місяці тому
We're back again on Westwater, this time rowing it. I had some real shoddy camera work so please forgive that. I had a straight blast and can't wait to run it again. River season is upon us and Kimberly and I are working on the Ark again, so lots more rafting on the way.
Telluriders - Telluride Colorado, 2024

Beautiful day at Telluride ski area. I've never ridden Telluride, so this was a sweet treat to experience. Conditions were so-so, which is fine by me, any time outside is my jam. Major shout-out to Emilio, Larry, Jason, Ian, Mae, and everyone else who was present for such a fun time.
Addie S hut trip - Silverton CO backcountry

I always love a great adventure with Patrick. This time we were in his element, skinning into the backcountry north of Silverton, CO. I have very limited time in the backcountry, so it is such a treat to get out there with him. As well as riding with Tim, Mark, and Zach for the first time; all these dudes are way experienced. I am super grateful I practiced this winter. Particularly riding swit...
Nepal Epi 7: Langtang Valley Trek
Переглядів 1217 місяців тому
Well here it is. The final chapter of our Nepal saga. We finished our time in Nepal hiking the Langtang Valley trek, arguably one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. This was an amazing project to work on. Easily the largest project I've taken on in quite some time. I excluded a fair bit of the trip, as I believe that you had to be there. Some of our highest and lowest moments, times t...
Purgatory ski resort top to bottom

Nothing fancy here, just wanted to start the new year with a fun vid. I'm working up at Purgatory resort as a snowboard coach this winter and have been loving this mountain. Sure the snows a bit sparse but there's plenty of season left to get dumped on. This is early season conditions, following lift 1 to El Diablo to Demon headwall. simple and enjoyable
That gorgey feeling: A trip down the Royal Gorge with the family

Oh man, oh man. what a wild season. This was my final play trip, a super trip of sorts. We did some shenanigans, had a few swims, and ultimately loved the water. I swear, I am nearly done with rafting videos, I swear
Nepal episode 6: Fire and Water
Переглядів 739 місяців тому
Here we go, episode 6. This time, we do a little community service and we get a little soggy. This was a fun one, but most rafting videos are pretty enjoyable to make happen. The Nepal trip is almost at its conclusion. Only one left after this.
Westwater Canyon...in a duckie
Переглядів 6710 місяців тому
westwater canyon did not disappoint! Water was at a comfy 3100 cfs, a level I am pretty familiar with after this last season. For a mid-october trip, the weather was perfect, cool in the shade and warm in the sun. Getting out there with Pat (who got me started rafting) and Nate (who is a major inspiration for continued rafting) was incredible. Oh and I guess starting a new decade of life was pr...
Nepal Episode 5: Pokhara Pitstop

Hey, hows about that! Finally another Nepal episode coming down the line. This time around, we found our way back into Pokhara after New Marigold School. For around a week, we checked out Pokhara, which is a sort of central hub for most of the Treks and adventure companies. While here, we did a little cultural exchange, got a few tattoos, and explored the outer edges of Pokhara. Lots of appreci...

I love fall. It is the season I play with my camera more than any other. The colors are popping, the temperature is perfect, and the snow hasn't started falling yet. Roger and I took advantage of being in Summit county to check out Mayflower Gulch. It's absolutely gorgeous and is a photographers paradise. If you do visit here or anywhere else in Colorado, have quality outdoor etiquette. -pack i...

Makes the guide’s job easier when you have a good crew that’s working together. Good run!
@@hardluk3 innit that the truth. There's a nice balance that comes with good water I love as well
T up
Poor guiding, get your act together.
@@trentschon8187 how do you figure? Elaborate.
It's people like you that make the internet a negative place. Get your act together.
Guide did a good job squaring up to those pusy waves except that one. With a standard 14 x 7 that wave wouldn't have flipped him, but the skinny is more fun and with 4 in the front and none inthe back that boat is easy to turn.
I agree, a 14er would've possibly handled those wave better. I've been running 16ers lately which is fun.
I think I've got the same boat, 3 thwart, 13 1/2',skinny.Floor pumps up tight and the narrowness makes it fast. I take that one until the water gets big.
Yessir, been running Nrs and hyside 13.5 footers at current flows. Still a dang good time
Nice waves. A swimmer could go for a bit.
They were big for sure. I underestimated the weight of the boat and the angle of waves. I never want swimmers, but these gals were badass.
Some days you get to see the show, some days you are the show. Former Ark guide circa 1997-2010.
@@H2oman420 to true my dude, to true
To each their own, but I would've had the custy's stay holding chicken line or pulled oto the flipped boat until fully past all the carnage of pinball. And then exchange them back to your craft in the calm before zoom. I would not have told them to swim to another boat in the rapid. After the rapid, sure. In the rapid, it would not be my choice to say swim away. Flipping the boat back is definitely a priority, but I would suspect custy safety would be higher priority. Note - I went thru Browns at 4k last week, 3k and 2800 this past weekend. At all 3 levels, all of pinball's boulders are still covered pour overs with a lot of force pushing water down and swirling. I can't speak to what RR's wants you to do, but I just believe holding on to the floaty-est item until the calm makes more sense(unless they would be pinned/crushed under the boat). You and the ladies seemed to do well in everything else. Even the widowmaker in reverse.
I agree with that sentiment about holding onto the floatiest thing nearest. This was my first commercial flip, I trusted my training, team, crew, and the river to all help us out.
Glad you realized you need a better flip line…🤘
Get my proper line out again. In a pitch, I keep a 6ft Cam for this exact reason.
Hard to believe the guide flipped there although he recovered well. As to the crew, for a commercial trip, they paddled in sync well. Way better than some I've run for sure. But as a professional guide, you don't always get to pick whom is in your boat. I've had a few nightmare trips of people that can't function in that type of environment.
Boats be flipping some times . As the guide, I was pretty surprised. It was alot of fun 😅
Flipping is "not" fun, especially in a rapid that it should not have happened. Sure, it on occasion does occur, but it only endangers people and creates chaos needlessly. When guiding with paying passengers, the goal should always be minimizing risk, maximizing fun, keep your boat "upright" and attempt to keep everyone in the boat. I've had too many days of plucking swimmers out of rivers, flipped boats everywhere, people clueless about what the f__k is going on and utter chaos all around. Like I said, the guide recovered well, his crew did well, but the story could have ended badly. That's exactly why as a guide, you are ultimately responsible for your passengers and their safety. This time it worked out, but that isn't always the case unfortunately.
whitewater!!!!!
The whites of waters 🤟
Need a better flip line? How about have a flip line. Bunch of fucking bull shit. Do better.
Looks like fun
