Downhill skiers have the right of way.
Well, that's 4:03 of my time that I'll never get back.

Good question. Watch our descent of Firk and at 1:50 that light brown jacket guy on skier left. At 2:08, he shouted Assxxxe! and then he sped down and waited down there to try to intercept me. Luckily, we went to Forest Queen and I avoided him.
As soon as I saw the Silver King, I knew that was Crystal Mountain!

Not sure why the skier was mad. It looks like the guy passed him safely. Maybe the camera doesn’t give a clear picture of how close they were, but it looked like the skier who the camera was focused on gave the man who yelled plenty of room when he passed him. Once you are the downhill skier any skier above you as to yield to you. A skier doesn’t have rear view mirrors on. I sometimes get yelled at my lousy skiers and snowboarders who are are above me when I am making nice carved GS turns on a wide open slope. When you are above another skier it is you responsibility to pass that skier safely. You are the one who has to be careful passing the downhill skier and to do it in a way that avoids the downhill skier. Not visa Versa. Some skiers can be odd. I’ve seen it on a wide open day where there are very few skiers on the hill and some skier or skiers want to ski right on top of you. I am just the opposite. I try to stay as far away from other skiers as possible. Typically if you ski off piste you will have less skiers to deal with. Sometimes on busy weekends when we have a lot of day tickets on our hill even off piste can get a little congested.
That was one of my ski buddies cutting me across from a blind spot. No harm done but close :D
Correction. I was thinking of another video where Randy my friend cut me off. This one was for real. Going down Firk at Crystal, this guy was skiing out of control and nearly hit me from behind and he was mad.
At frame 2:08 you can hear him yelling Asxxxe! from behind me. I never saw him before that.....
True but sometimes, if rarely, it can be close. It may not be immediately evident who is the uphill skier. I had the issue once. A skier skied into me while he was doing wide erratic carves and I was following the fall line. He maintained he was the downhill skier and that I skied into him. However at the time of impact I am very certain I was the downhill skier...if not by much.
@@jiros00 I guess I would question why you were skiing so close to him that it even became an issue. You write that at one time you were above the other skier. I ski away from downhill skiers whether they are skiing short radius turns or wide GS turns. Downhill skiers can't being looking uphill while they are skiing. Today a guy who I think was in the woods urinating just sprung out onto the slope I was travelling on. He barely missed me. my buddy says he missed the tails of my skis by maybe 3 feet. You need to be aware of your surroundings
