It's been a long time since I played this one. It's an early model, but fitted with an all maple neck from the SUB line. Rosewood and orange are just hideous together. The pickups are Dragonfire Phury and rewired to a basic 3 way. Total improv, no plan, just going with the flow.

Love this guitar, set neck, Seymour Duncan Green Magic (before they were called green magic) Quacky middle tone is so weird but also very usable. No bridge on this little improv jam, just neck and both.

Satriani style jam with my new Zion. This baby crossed the ocean TWICE. I got it from a seller in Italy. Little known treasures these guitars are. RIP Master Builder Ken Hoover.

Excellent cover of this great band, I have time listening to them and you have done a great job. I would like to buy a Zion Radicaster guitar or a powerglide but I never find where to do it, could you help me or tell me where to buy a zion guitar please?
Have you tried Reverb.com? There's currently 18 Zions for sale on there. Also, there is a Zion Players Group on FB
amazing stuff ! 🤠
Thanks!!
Nice groove! :D
Incredible dude 😎
Great demonstration , I have a 96 arriving in Candy Apple Red with maple board
Congrats!!
Love the tone you've got going on here. Great to listen to. Maybe you can share your setup and effects with us?
Thank you!! Peavey Revalver Software, Demon amp model, preset "The Lead". Demon model is based on a Diesel Herbert amp.
Чутка филтрон напоминает местами
Loved it, your vibrato is is nice and used in a musical way
Thank you!!
beautiful!
Thank you!
These are the best strats, especially compared to the pro series now
I can't wait 'til Satriani strarts writing this way again ..
Great video I've been looking for a demo of this set with Maple necked strat type guitar. What are the position 2 & 4 tones like?
Thanks!! 2 & 4 are what you'd expect from a typical Strat
Niceee 🔥
I’ve got one of these.. any info on it please
what backing track were you playing over?? this sounds amazing.
Way cool! Thank you.
Sir, your video really set me into looking and replace my tele with SD hot rails set.
Is the neck made of Western Red Cedar too? If so is it just a truss rod inside or carbon rods too
Maple with an ebony board.
the sustain!!
I absolutely love your guitar ,did you do the paint job? it looks cool and what kind of bridge are you using?
Thank you! That's a custom build I did for someone a couple years ago. Yes I did the paint and finishing. The bridge is a Wilkinson VS-100
they sound really good
So you still have the stock pickups?
I do
Wow I think that is the ones I want for my Tele and nice playing too. I am glad you showed this. They sound hotter. I have a hot rail for the bridge SD but I have not seen the hot rail for the neck. Telle is nice blue color. I want to get mine installed now that I heard it. Its really got great sustain now. Part of it is your amp and settings though but that is a great sound.
Hi, the preview of this comment still had the part where you said the neck looks moldy. I can assure you it's not mold, it's the Birds Eye Maple figuring in the wood. Amp is a Peavey Vypyr, Models = Clean Fender Twin, Crunchy Twin, Marshall Plexi, and Mesa Rectifier
Works for me, mate!
Cool! What pots are you using?
500k
@@TruBluGuitar Noted. Thanks!
i have these on my list to purchase....nice playing by the way...ill subscribe....you're welcome...lol...
Pretty darn impressive amplifier settings. Pretty darn good picking besides.
Man those pickups sound really nice.
Are you still building and selling these?
The California red cedar that was used for this guitar was very light as well as very soft. Since entering the "Covidian Era" my building has taken a back seat.
@@TruBluGuitar I love your guitar, let me know when you are back in business.
Is cedar light weight?
What guitar string gauge so you use? I got this same model and my action is pretty high as well. Would love to fix it and make it easier to play. Thanks and superb playing!
Thanks !! I don't know what actual gauge was previously on it but they were very heavy acoustic strings. I replaced them with a set of Ernie Ball Super Slinky's which are 9-42's
....people inside me are asking me too blow up city hall.... cuz no one here is rockin'! (tenacious D-City hall, the almost clean tone, arp at the beggining) give it a listen if you dont know of it =) (the moment is around 5:12 in there song)
I hear people talking smack about the EMG HZ series, but I've liked their passives that I have tried.
Did you use 250 K pots or 500 K pots?
500
What does the headstock logo look like?
The word SERIES and then a big 10 after it. If you look up "Series 10 guitar logo" that's it.
@@TruBluGuitar Thank you. I'm trying to identify a LP copy that looks exactly like this but has a weird series of lowercase h's logo on the headstock. Definitely not a Hondo. The search continues
What amp and pedal did u used?
No pedal, all through Peavey Vypyr 30 with sanpera II controller
Hey brother thanks for sharing. I have the exact same guitar and fell in love with these pick ups.. would love to see a video or hear more about the picks vs the original pick ups .. will u please please do a video .. or share anymore info
Sorry I don't have that guitar anymore so I can't do a comparison. I do still have an OLP Benji Madden that I put a set of H4 and H4A's in. Stock Sterlings are nice pups but just not quite what I like for my sound. I have found the passive EMG's to be just as quiet as the actives but without the hassle of a battery. Best I can tell you is browse my channel. I do have other vids with this guitar as well as the Benji that has the H4's. There's also a couple with an orange AX20 that has the original Sterling pups in it.
is this pickup better than sd hotrails?
I had neck and middle hot rails in an HSS Charvel many years ago and don't really remember how they sounded. All I can say is I am VERY impressed with this pickup combination and there's no style it can't do except for maybe seriously over driven metal.
@@TruBluGuitar ohh tnx 4 ur advice bro..👍😅😅
@@tjy_69official28 I just realized I did another video about the SD hot rails. That demo was the only chance I had to play them as it was not my guitar but one I installed the pups into for a friend. The little I played it I was very impressed and feel you can't go wrong with either ones.
@@TruBluGuitar ohh.. bcoz im really confused to choose either chopper t or hotrails to put in my telecaster😂😂
@@tjy_69official28 Both sets are capable of everything style wise as long as you shape your sound at the amp. Bone crushing metal is out of the picture but still capable of great screaming sustain from a MESA style head. Blues are spot on. If I were running both HM I'd lean towards the Duncans. The Chopper T and Twang King are amazing if you want true Tele sounding neck position.
Jon, saw your cedar build, wondering what the tone is like compared to a 'standard ( Cheap)Telecaster? Its the only wood I have that I would consider trying a first build. (I prefer to play Bridge pickup)- but you say Cedar is brighter? Thanks!!
Where did you see the cedar build? I have another build demo on here of a cedar tele I did several years back. It kinda depends what specific cedar you have. The first one I did was Western red and that is very soft wood. The project I currently have is a Northeastern cedar which is harder and heavier. In the 8 yrs now that I've been doing builds, I've heard little effect of wood on tone. In the electric world I personally believe your components shape the sound far more than the chunk of wood holding them together.
Ok. Thanks Maybe try to trim the edges with maple trim or something. Would look cool!
So, I can make a pacifica sound awesome with an effects processor 2
I know it has been a while, but did you have to redrill the threaded inserts for the bridge and tailpiece? I have one of the mounting posts and it appears to be slightly slimmer than most Gibson/Epiphone bridges and tailpieces.
I did not have to change anything, direct fit
Excellent!!
Thanks!!
Nice playing. Pick -ups sound great!
Thank you!! I'm loving them.
I just found one on ebay! I bought it right away. It has the one humbucker and it's black with the white pickguard. Can't wait till it arrives!
I know that face you make around 3:50.... It is mine about every 30 seconds of playing! I am putting together a tele right now from parts. These pickups sound great. Thanks for posting.
Pickups sound great. What is the bridge with that guitar? Fender US standard or MiM?
US Standard
TruBluGuitar thanks!
Pickups have a great tone... very nice. They sound quiet too... do you notice much single coil hum with them at performance volume....? I've been considering the Dragon Fire Noiseless Tele Performance Pickup set for a while now, but can't find any videos that demo their clean tone, but these sound pretty nice... looking for a good sounding set of pickups for my G&L ASAT Classic Tele that are pretty noise free, as the ones it came with have so much hum I just don't play it through an amp even though I love the guitar otherwise and play it a lot using headphones... Ever tried the Dragon Fire Noiseless Tele Pickups...? Fender noiseless just sound too dull to my ears, and from what I've heard, I think the Dragon Fire's sound brighter, clearer, and more like a Tele should sound....
I am wondering why cedar it is not often used for building guitars bodies? I like the sound! Nice video!
It is VERY soft wood and it dings and dents very easily. My guess would be durabilility concerns however I think a good thick poly finish would help.
I asked the guy to build me one. Cedar would be light weight, resonate and unique plus it looks damn good.
Where did you buy it ?
Local craigslist sale
Been debating on getting these for a strat build, thanks for the demo. Have any experience with other budget brands? Calig has some intriguing budget options also.
Guitarheads on ebay, and GFS but all three actually are made by Artec in Korea
