    I’m sorry that you had to go through that. But I do feel isolated because I’m one of the instructor for the culture dance. You had made a lot of great comments. Thank you for bringing that up. Hopefully next year it could be better for all of us. Thank you for all teams that made it happen. But overall, it was a great experience.

    Sadly, money/ money hungry changed ppl. What happened to "Work hard and stay humble"? ppl tend to forget it. I hope everyone learned from here and changed for the better. Love and respect all artists who worked so hard to get where they are now.

    Cliffnotes if you are not Hmong or Lao. I have been following Sabaidee Fest for a long time. The head honcho Salong who is Lao started this as a Lao/Thai festival featuring only Lao/Thai. He was struggling to get people interested and buying the pricey tickets so he eventually added Hmong artists and influencers to the roster. Once he added the Hmong artists, Sabaidee Fest blew up and was marketed as a SEA festival that promotes unity. Truth is he needed the Hmong community's support to carry the festival through. The Hmong American community will generally put their money into anything that promotes their people, culture, music, etc and they have a huge social media presence. After the first fest, one of the well known Hmong American artists (Zong Pha Xiong) wrote a FB post in which he expressed that he wasn't fairly compensated and treated well. This rubbed many Hmong people the wrong way for various reasons. First of all, there is already tension between Lao and Hmong that originates in Laos. Hmong are pretty much second class citizens there and experience discrimination as a minority. Some of that mentality carries on here in America even though we've been here over 40 years. There were Hmong people who from the start said not to support this event headed by Lao people who will likely exploit the Hmong community. So once Zong Pha Xiong made that statement, it only confirmed what some people had been saying all along. It wasnt just Zong Pha Xiong but one popular Hmong photographer/videographer who really marketed this event all over social media said she was never paid although there was an agreement in which she would be paid. It wasn't just them but there were other complaints by others as well including a few Lao people. In addition, most of the attendees were Hmong and Hmong wanted to know why there aren't more Hmong performers when they're the biggest supporters of this event. Some Hmong people called to boycott this festival and I think Salong knew he had to bring someone like P.A.P Beat Band and Vannda to compensate for the Hmong who are boycotting. So here we are in the second year. Without P.A.P who is Hmong and from Thailand and intensely popular, even less Hmong would hsve attended the festival including the tours. If you ask me, P.A.P carried and saved the festival this year. There was a tour scheduled for Vegas with P.A.P and a few of the Lao/thai artists that was cancelled the day before the event. If you ask me, they probably didnt sell enough tickets. Although there's a small Lao and Thai community in Vegas, they weren't interested enough especially for $70/person for GA. There aren't enough Hmong in Vegas to carry this stop in Vegas so it was called off. I am curious to see if Vannda returns next year and if this fest will branch out to include more Vietnamese and other SEA ethnicities in the future. Filipinos are considered Southeast Asian too. If P.A.P is smart, he needs to negotiate better and ask for more money and better accomodations next year. He earned the festival and tours a lot of money although he probably only received a few grand like the other artists. I'm sure he received a lot of tips from his tours but he shouldn't be relying on just the tips. I dont know how much the overseas artists were paid but the rumor is "a few" grand. Many Hmong wouldn't have attended the tours without P.A.P. His manager needs to read this and advocate for him. Some of these artists from severely poor countries are just grateful for this opportunity as they should be but they also need to realize the value they bring to the table and how much $$$ is really being made because of them!

    I disagree with you on why doesn't SBDF have more Vietnamese artists. Come on, its the second year, this was originally just a Lao/Thai festival until the Hmong audience came in, that's when things really kicked off. Slowly, but surely they are expanding to other SEA countries artists, so we can't expect perfection in two years. Maybe some of these Vietnamese artists don't even want to perform at SBDF. For you to question why isn't there enough representation of Vietnamese artists is uncalled for. SE Asians compared to other Asians who immigrated to America experienced similar trauma, took us LOTS of years to get an event like SBDF. Its not perfect, but what kind of business is? Its all trial and error.

    It's not Saigon Night Market where you put yourself as a headliner. 😂 Btw, when are you going to start refunding back the money to the Orlando peeps that never got in because it was shut down by fire marshalls? Then bounced to Sabaidee Fest after it. Smells like pot is calling kettle.

      Funny thing is every single person who wasn’t able to attend due to max capacity has been refunded. Only $10 tix btw , oh also I never headline my events / festivals. I always open to give the other artists spotlight. Feel free to reach out to any of them, find em on the flyer, and fact check me. Good try tho lol

    While the artist from Laos got paid flight from Laos, ABNB, transports, 3 meals a day, clothing and around $2000 to perform one night. That’s why there’s no money left.

    First of all Sabaidee to everyone!Shout to Laos supply and to each and every one of yall to who made Sabaidee Fest happen. I couldn’t imagine how hard it was to organize such an amazing event which only started about 2-3 yrs ago to celebrate Lao and Thai New Year, now an event celebrating every ethnicity from SE Asia. I would have never known these talented artists if this never happened, keep this shit cracking! Lao Love!

    That shit isn't about Southeast Asia Culture Heritage or Unity. It a money grab gimmick. They might throw in a few artists and promoter from different communities to open up those revenue streams. But, there is definitely equal representation nor equal acknowledgment of all Southeast Asian communities. Stop supporting a group that claimed to promote unity but dose the complete pposite. In actuality.

    you went in Knowing you were doing shit for free and now youre pissed you werent treated like a vip? Its not a cultural festival. You wanted to be a part of it and you were. Its a money grab with Laos singers highligting the stage. You dont see Viets musicians and Chinese ever Inviting Thai, Laos, and Hmong Musicians.

  • @GnoixGenp
    @GnoixGenp 3 дні тому

    Firstly, I won't be going anymore to Sabaidee because i think it did lose its original "vibe" to it but I do think your claims are a bit ridiculous and not based off on the full information available. Just like one of the Hmong artist from last year (even though I support them too), I think you're just feeling some type of way. Sometimes there's no bad intention, sometimes things just doesn't work out exactly how you want it to go. It's a huge logistical undertaking with hundreds of people (a good majority are probably volunteers) and they actually pulled it off Cmon, you're not that big, you can't expect that much preferential treatment. Those parking passes are only $50 for 3 days lol...they did give you one because you're an artist. Your friend might not have gotten that meet and greet because of some other conflicts, not because they simply refused to honor the promise. Labels, music industry, and international visa contracts are all very complicated. No vietnamese artists? Vietnamese culture is already overrepresented in the US + its only the 2nd year...let other SE asians have their moment instead of crying about it... I agree about the layout though, it was wack. I thought the EDM DJs were wack too, there was nothing "cultural" about that and should never have been approved In the end, you reached out to them to get put on and they did their best for an up and coming artist. Feels kind of slimy to be revealing this opinion about them claiming its the "truth"

    I see a lot of hate in this comment section. Plus, this dude is getting a lot views over his experience at SDFT. If it's drama people want to tune in on it. Tammy Moua came out with her perspective on Sabaidee Fest. So why is their less views? In order stop Asian hate we need to start from our own first. And someone commented on the name too. Why did they call it Sabaidee Fest when it should be Southeast Asian Fest? Will "Sabaidee is just a greeting to everybody". Try putting every greeting in every southeast Asian country on a shirt. GOOD LUCK! Why did they call it Aloha Fest instead of pacific islander fest, because it's just a greeting.

    Man, tbh I think these festivals will not last. We’re all Asians but we all speak different languages and some of our cultures are different. So, to bring all the performers from different nationalities into one venue ain’t going to work as Asians don’t speak the same language. You’ll have Hmong fans will show up to see Hmong artist…how will they understand Khmer artist?… etc.. It’s better to have your own kind’s festival in order to make money and be peaceful as us Asians can be very divisive and have big egos. as I’ve read the comments. we have long way to go.
