Stadium Visual to Runway 29, Newark Airport
RIP Dick Pope
Don't bother with an ATP Single Engine, ATP Seaplane, ATP Helicopter 🚁 nor Multiengine Seaplane ratings. Those ATP ratings serve absolutely positively no purpose. 99% of sea planes operate single engine sea planes only and seaplane operations are only seasonal. It's extremely cost prohibitive for an operator to operate a multi engine seaplane on a seasonal basis.
ATP-MEL, A-320/B-737 Type Rating(s), Commercial ASEL/ASES/Glider and Sport Gyroplane would be absolutely perfect on a certificate. The type rating restriction would read this if you get it with your own money. "ENGLISH PROFICIENT" "THIS CERTIFICATE IS SUBJECT TO PILOT-IN-COMMAND LIMITATION FOR A-320 B-737"
ATP MEL initial checkride should be taken in a light twin. Hands on experience is needed before transitioning to more advanced aircraft. Case and point getting ready for a jet transition. If you can get the Airbus A-320 and Boeing B-737 type rating(s). The airlines will retrain you from there.
@@CHGMANCHG um... This is a light twin, a Piper Seminole. This video was done back in 2010ish and I did the training for the student. He had the money to do it at the time and wanted the certificate. Yes, it's is easier to go the route of the airlines. 14 years later I'm a captain at a major airline and am typed on 4 different aircraft, the DHC8, ERJ145, A320, and A220.
@@CHGMANCHG also, who are you talking to?

For years I watched planes land on 2 9 from my high school seat (Marist Bayonne Nj) only on windy days.
WOW .I Dont think I would like that..way to close to the high ways and buildings...you would think we would build airports a few more miles away from crowded highways and places..
BTW GREAT VIDEO
EWR airport has probably been there longer than a lot of those highways and buildings.
Avery big haaaa.
Why is the Captains Head so big
I hate that approach with a passion.
A trip down memory lane for me. I grew up about 25 miles south of Portland. I have seen many aircraft flying this approach…..back when I 7:14 didn’t know what a harbor visual was. At about 45-50 seconds crossing I-295 near the Congress St exit. “low Flying Aircraft “ sign both directions. The former “Maine Youth Center used to be on top of the hill about halfway down the runway on the left side of landing Runway 29…..right side of landing runway 11. True story in April 1986 I was flying back from New Jersey. This was the “People’s Express” $29 Newark to Portland….pay on board….we obviously see how the honor system worked out for People’s Express but that’s another story. Two nights in a row flew up, held over PWM for a bit, tried for Boston and basically no go on both cities….marine layer Fog…..yes back to Newark. Finally got into PWM on the third try……AM departure and arrived late morning after the fog lifted. Great airport and thanks for the trip back in time. A cot of times I did the same flight and landing on runway 11, I saw my dads car pass under the wing rushing to the terminal to pick me up. The main airport vehicle entrance at that time was on the Northeast of the airport.
I used to go to Old Orchard beach and here we see it as the video opens. I love Maine and family has been going since the late 60's I met a gal who I married and her family were from Augusta and had a place in Ocean park. Marriage did not work out but still love Maine
What a funky approach. But i love it
Keep the nose up and you should be good.
yeah keep the nose up, enter a stall, and get yourself killed. pretty good plan.
I love it! I was on the Turnpike going south, and was wondering if there was a video of a runway 29 landing! Awesome!
embraer plane?
Yep, EMB-145.
Fantastic
is the stick shaker combined with the stick pusher or are they separate operations?
It's been years since I flew this airplane much less looked at its systems, I'd guess separate.
Wow really astonishing performance! Really impressive to keep that aircraft on the edge of stalling
I've seen this approach from the turnpike. Its really cool to see the planes come so close to the highway.
This is awesome
Piece of art right here. RIP to inner J, got scrubbed after the dehub
Ha, thx!
Beautiful! What aircraft is this?
ERJ-145XR
Are you flying a Q-400?
That was a Q-200.
@@HeffeCafe1 That's awesome! Great video!
Scary
Newark airport traffic sure does look a lot quieter in this video than it did when I was there last back in 1998.
Don't let this fool you, it's probably gotten worse.
Awesome !
Think I also noticed the Jersey Gardens Mall ☝🏽
Was that a dash 8?
Yes it was.

AWESOME!!
By 4:00 you can see the Statue of Liberty on the left.
Very smooth. Great job
Very nice video 👍
When the wind is wicked (Winter) all sorts of heavies land on 29. Not all do though.
Cool video you flew right over my job at port Newark
Nice video....
👍
Butter that bread,
😂
I fly in and out of Newark airport regularly and I don't think I"ve ever taken off from Runway 11-29 and I think I only landed on that runway once in a United Express ERJ-145. Newark's two main runways are 4L-22R and 4R-22L and those two are almost in constant use seeing up to 60 landings and take-offs per hour during peak times.
I've flown 145's and DHC-8's into and out of Newark for for years, and I've taken off and landed from 11/29, mainly 29 numerous times. They will use the 22's/4's while using 29, often with LAHSO operations.
@@HeffeCafe1 I took off from 29 once. It's especially rare to do so on a mainline aircraft, but I did so on a Southwest 737-700.
Stadium is the Meadowlands.
It would be better if the approach was named the Meadowlands Visual, unfortunately the FAA isn't that creative.
@@HeffeCafe1 -- Too Jersey Shore..
Dam!! Jersey is ugly!!!!
man thats literally just near the airport since it has the industrial places around there.
That was so cool, thanks.
Should be called the Pulaski Skyway approach because you turn final at the Pulaski Skyway
Actually that is I-78. The Pulaski Skyway is several miles to the north of that section of I-78.
@@Potterfamilias If you look at the two bridges one is NJTs Hoboken line EX EL the high truss bridge is the Pulaski Skyway I-78 starts at Newark Airport EWR
even from the air, Xanadu looks like a shithole.
They call it "American Dream" now. It will always be Xanadu to me and it will always be a shithole.
Cool video 👍 subscribed
To be on a bridge, with a Boeing or Airbus landing, to see that, must be an interesting awesome experience
Its heidi moneymaker
And the air there is just as breathtaking as the scenery...btw, nice video.
Thank you for this exhilarating video.
