Head Shake / Wobble (and fix) - KTM 1290 Super Adventure (see description)
Переглядів 2,4 тис.Місяць тому
Test rode a brand new 2024 KTM 1290 Super Adventure S demo bike. Unfortunately, this example also suffered from the infamous head shake... Some examples don't suffer from it all, and others suffer from it a lot. It seems to be a bit of a lottery in that regard. The stock Mitas tyres these bikes come with from factory are shit, and need to be replaced as soon as possible. Although the zigzag pat...

Looks & sounds wonderful.😉
Did the headshake stop after retightening the bolt? I have the exact same issue, but on my 2022, and at a much lower speed- between 105-110 mph. I have upgraded the tires to Michelin road 6s. I also have a Scots steering damper. Thank you so much.
This is not my own motorcycle. It was a demo bike that my local KTM dealership offered to potential customers for a test ride.
I was talking about this with the mechanic I usually go to today, albeit for my S1000XR. The issue is completely unrelated to the tyres themselves most likely, unless improper balance. I've done a lot to address this on the XR, including lowering or geometry changes, suspension,, damper, testing different screens and configurations, bla bla I'll try giving the head bearings a look over, check wheel alignment thoroughly I guess.
@@ThaSideWeed if you don’t mind, keep us posted! It could just be an issue with adventure bikes 🤷♂️
What exhaust are you running on the bike? I also have an fz6 and am currently looking for a sports exhaust
I'm running a Dominator exhaust

Dont you just love that bike. close to a perfect ride. ❤ Regards. FZ6 S2 ;-)
Not only do I love this bike, but I genuinely think it's one of the best motorcycles you can possibly buy for the money. It's a pleasure to ride, very reliable and relatively cheap to buy and maintain. Just make sure to properly fasten and secure the front sprocket nut (with Loctite), as they tend to come loose and destroy the thread on the outgoing axle (but this issue might have been resolved with the S2 generation).
Bro, learn how to ride, hold on with your legs and it will stop. I ride a 1290 also, and the beast will shake a little.
Will do bro. Thanks
buy a bmw
U rev too hard! More than 6000rpm r not nessasary
I agree that there's not much to gain above 6000 rpm in terms of making power. However, it's not about what's necessary. It's about fun and having a good time.
Beautifull drive 😊
It sure is!

My lord that green triumph is gorgeous. I hope you like your 2012 but in my humblest opinion the 2010 speedy was the last true speedy
nice ride but it is so busy. was this a month ago?
Thanks. No, this was recorded in late August 2023.
such an exspensive bike with an error that is there for a couple off years should not need aftermarket parts to ride it safely. its a great bike but its real bad that ktm did not solve the issue by now
Mega geiler Sound
Torque headstock bearings a bit more from factory specs.Did many so far
Is there a damper for it?
It comes with a damper from factory, but it obviously doesn't do a good enough job to keep the bike stable. I believe HyperPro makes after market steering dampers that fit this bike. The are supposedly better than the stock one. Some have also reported having fixed this problem by replacing the oil in the stock damper with a thicker viscosity oil.
I'm a motorcyclist too...but I NEVER rev the engine that much...😢 It's nice to ride freely and not disturb anyone. Nice ride but a big dislike for the useless engine revs.
I feel you haha. Ride outs like these are organized three or four times a year during the riding season, and people like to show off and go crazy. Being obnoxious and pissing off Karens is all part of the game here.
Xf 650 mega bike...geiler Motor
Hab mir am Wochenende eine aus Bayern geschossen. 25J alt. Original 5000km gelaufen mit kompletter Historie. Es gibt sie noch. Nur etwas suchen!
Thanks for this video. Considering getting a Freewind myself 👍So thumbs up for that one, dude. Have a great day today. With kind regards, Eivind Marcussen... (Haha)
Thanks for your comment, Eivind. You have a great day as well!
I had a 955i in that colour, I decided to buy another bike after having a break for 14 years. When the revs increase they sound lovely.
Gsr 600 or fz6 is better?
I have never ridden a GSR 600, so I wouldn't be able to tell you from personal experience.
Very nice, I think I have same USB charger, and same bike :D
Thanks!
35:27 What's the matter?
It wasn't anything special. The local policemen barely spoke nor understood any English, so I didn't really verbally communicate with them. They only wanted to see and check my documentations and papers, after which I was free to go. No fines or anything like that. It seemed like it was just a regular police control, and they just randomly pulled bikers over to check and verify things.
Very good road and very good driver. Gretting from France.
Thank you!
Why do bikers these days rev to the limited in neutral ?, Pointless can't be good for the engine
Most of the bikers that bounce their revs off the rev limiter, have an after market launch control feature programmed in their ECU. Using launch control without actually launching the bike, allows you to make that distinctive rev limiter sound, but halfway through the rev range - not at the top. That way, these bikers can be as loud and obnoxious as possible, but without risking damaging the engine.
😎
How would you place this bike comapring it to z1000?
I've never ridden a Z1000 before, so I couldn't tell you from personal experience.
💯💯💯👊👊 pozdro
Vraagje; heb jij als je gas loslaat ook van die extreme knallen? Ik had dit met een Leovince uitlaat wel en vraag me af of dit met de Dominator ook zo is.
Yes, dat had ik ook.
Normal. Blblblblbup, Patsch patsch 😂😂
i love how simple this bike is. beautiful color too contrasting with the chrome bars.
Do you believe it’s an insane idea replace a 2020 Kawasaki z900 with a bike like this?
I haven't personally ridden the Z900 before. However, I have ridden the Z900 RS. To me, the Z900 (RS) felt a bit plain and generic. It's a gorgeous bike to look at with all its retro flare and all, but the riding experience felt a bit docile and tamed. I think the peak power of the Kawasaki is decent, but the linear power delivery and very muted exhaust sound made it all feel a bit dull and unexciting to me. Also, the suspension of the Z900 (RS) felt very budget with even a little "head shake" above 200 km/h. The Speed Triple 1050 I rode in this video had the Hyperpro rear shock and fork leg springs. That felt way better than the budget suspension of the Z900 (RS). The Triumph also has more grunt down low in the revs, and the three cylinder sound makes it a more "special" bike to ride than the generic in-line four of the Kawasaki. But don't take my word for it. You should really experience it yourself by riding both bikes back to back. A used Speed Triple 1050 is also quite a lot cheaper than a used Z900, so you should take that into consideration as well. Overall, I definitely don't think it's an "insane" idea to replace a Z900 with a Speed Triple 1050. If you like the Triumph, go for it!
@@jaffabaffa thanks! Very detailed answer! I love the sound of triple engine, the look of the bike is amazing. Of course, I’m a fan of the old stile double circled lights. Mu only doubt is about reliability and safety. I should buy a 15yrs old lady, without any assistance like traction control or even ABS. I’m now riding a 2020 z900, it is a modern and I do feel it like a great bike, but its personal character is not comparable the one of a speed triple.
@@albertodanioni6504I just recently bought a 09 speed triple and it honestly feels like it could ride by itself
@@albertodanioni6504 Hi. I am riding 2011 street triple 675r. I have been riding both street 765 and speed 1200. Speed was too big for me as I ride mostly through the city and new street is na amazing bike BUT I honestly love my rough street with no anti-hopping clutch, ABS and all of that electronic stuff. I am in love with the bike. It is a second for me as I totalled the previous one (typical "left turn"). I doubt I will ever change this bike for another one as my daily motorcycle. I will gladly answer aby questions on regard of this model if that interests you. Both motorcycles are pleasent to ride, quality is really good, to me its a reliable motorcycle. Ride what you like and not what seems newer or cooler. There are plenty of amazing motorcycles out there - new or older doesn't really matter. Enjoy it out there :)
Ive recently had a 2006 fz6 and its great..... It mist be amazing to ride out with all those riders 😅
You did any modifications on the carburetors?
No, I did not. As a result, the pops/bangs/crackles from the exhaust became louder and more frequent, which I quite liked anyway. However, the exhaust header always glowed red hot after a couple of minutes riding. Never hurt the bike though
@@jaffabaffa thanks a lot i think to put the same exhaust in my freewind
Hello again 😊..btw what modifications you have?
In terms of performance mods I only have a Dominator exhaust (without DB killer)

Hi! Where do you put the Zoom H1N? Do you have an external microphone for it? Thanks! Greeting from Hungary!
The Zoom H1N itself is an external microphone. I didn't use any other microphones besides the H1N. I had the Zoom taped between two pieces of foam, and had it positioned under the seat right behind the tail light (with the microphones facing the the tail light).
Soy un nuevo suscriptor,de tu canal. Tengo una Freewind del 2001. La de la foto jijiji !!
Suena muy bien !! Que marcha haces el Wheelie...2° ?
Thanks! The Freewind only really comes up in first gear. You might also be able to clutch it up in second gear, but when you do, your revs need to be really close to the red line, and your ass needs to be shifted backwards as far as possible. I wouldn't recommend wheelies on this bike if you're not experienced. The bike is simply too underpowered/heavy for it.

What pipes are on your bike man!! I love my fizzy to bits! best bike I've ever owned, re did the suspension and have dominator pipes on mine! Safe driving man!
Glad to hear you love the Fazer! So do I. I also have the Dominator exhaust. I run shortened DB-killers though, because I think the bike is too loud without DB-killers, but too quite with DB-killers (in original length).
@@jaffabaffa I find man, that I lose power, with "Either" of the 2 types of DB killers?!? Do you feel a difference ? I just leave mine out man
@@Paulie1978100 I literally ordered the Dominator exhaust on the same day I bought the bike, so I have very little experience with the stock exhaust. I also have very little experience with running no DB-killers at all, because it almost made me deaf during my first test ride. I honestly don't know how running different DB-killers or no DB-killers at all affect the power.
@@jaffabaffa It has some thing to do with the flow and return from the exhaust with them in that lowers the power, I have to say bro, my bike ain't crazy loud with them out. My mates R1 has a full aftermarket system and the pipes didn't even come with DB killers... Now his bike is very very f**kin loud.. too loud for me
@@Paulie1978100 I agree that - in terms op "peak loudness" - is isn't extremely loud without the DB-killers. However, no matter at which RPM you ride, the buzz of the engine is always there if you ride without DB-killers, and that buzz made me feel like it was making me deaf after only minutes of riding. I used to own a 650cc single cilinder with a fully open exhaust without DB-killer. In terms of "peak loudness", that bike was louder than my Fazer; however, it was more bearable because it was only loud when you were on the throttle. The four-cilinder Fazer is always loud regardless of RPM
Its the oval or circle one?which model of dominator?i have freewind xf and im thinking to buy one
This is the "round" version (the cheapest one)👍🏻
@@jaffabaffa thanks)did u notice difference in general?
@@laynetravis Yes, I did. The bike gained noticeably more torque in the lower RPMs. 55 to 60 km/h in fifth gear is no problem once the engine is warmed up. The bike will also run slightly leaner, resulting in more pops and bangs while deaccelerating.
@@jaffabaffa how you doing? great u know that's why im buying it 🙂. keep up
