Here's an even hotter take. Women who self depreciate and are always apologizing are generally adult children of abuse and/or neglect. That's the only way they know how to communicate or to give you a compliment. Because they have had to push themselves into the background of every situation or interaction they had during their formative years. Instead of talking 💩 and saying how much you hate them, maybe take a long look inside and see how you really feel about them knowing they have survived something horrific. Only recently did I begin to see that narcissism can also look like negative self talk/being consumed by self image. Yes, ma'am. As I'm in my 30s, I often look back and want to hug younger me. I know she'll be so proud of me now. I could never see myself be consistent with my health, establishing good eating habits, and going back to school to learn and educate myself. I also no longer need validation from others, like I used to contantly seek out, I talked to myself better. Its crazy how much changes in a year, even 10 years lol

It was a trend throughout my teenage years for my female friends to always make the most self deprecating, harmful "jokes" about ourselves and I fell into it as well to fit in :( though it never sat right with me when they did that about themselves because I cared for them and hated hearing them say some of those things directed at themselves. It never did us any good and if anything just caused more harm to our self esteem down the line. I'm over it! 25 and ready to shed that old skin.
