Bart Ehrman always likes to insinuate that Christianity is dishonest. That’s because he reads the Bible literally and interprets it only with his intellect which works on the hermeneutics of suspicion. But the intellect can only hear the rumour - only the soul can experience the truth. Christian apocalyptic thought used the linear concept of time to create meaning. As Carl Jung explains: “But it was of most profound psychological significance when Christianity first discovered, in the orientation towards the future, a redeeming principle for mankind. In the past nothing can be altered, and in the present little, but the future is ours and capable of raising life’s intensity to its highest pitch.” If you can’t tune into what the Bible is saying, and most people can’t these days, then I recommend a Jungian scholar like David Tacey but you will never understand the Bible by following a Biblical scholar like Bart Ehrman.

New York State government required everyone in the medical field to take the vaccine. Many refused and willingly lost their job. Others said, "well, this isn't the hill I'm willing to die on." I can see both sides. But it's a perfect example of what Eric is talking about here.

During my 81 years of life I have been approached by people telling me there is a god: at work, at Subway, at grocery stores, sitting on a mountain top in Colorado, in malls, in coffee shops, at Walmart, in a dry cleaner, on airplanes, in my apartment, walking down the street, and people like you on YT. After studying several religions during that time and talking to people that want to save my soul, all I see is faith and what ifs, contrived analogies and a book of fiction which you insist on pushing in my face. We can't see, taste, smell, cannot measure, doesn't do anything, cannot describe, but its something that created everything. Then, because we can't prove it doesn't exist it means that it exists. Can you prove; Santa Clause, the Easter bunny, the great pumpkin, the tea pot flying around mars, the spaghetti monster doesn't exist? There is no god.

Alan Ladd was a very small man in stature but he seemed much larger than life in this classic Western. The opening scene of Ladd on horseback and the incredible score by the great Victor Young always brings a tear to my eye. Its sheer simplicity makes it more powerful and breathtaking. Alan Ladd manages to deliver a performance of Earth shaking dimensions, almost Academy Award worthy. This was Ladd's greatest performance. Understated yet powerful, he epitomized the screen hero like few others.

I find it surprising that serious, intelligent people believe that God woke up after trillions and trillions of eternity and 200,000 or so years ago thought of creating human beings only to damn or redeem them based on the 70-80 years of their earthly existence. I am a staunch believer in God btw.

Yet more misrepresentation. Aspirin's efficacy is not explained - except in marketing - as a "pain relieving formula"; again to quote wikipedia: "Aspirin binds to and acetylates serine (an amino acid used by the body to make proteins) residues in the active site of cyclooxygenase enzymes, leading to reduced production of prostaglandin. This in turn mediates aspirin's effect of reduced inflammation and pain in affected tissues. "

I can't comment on “Signature in the Cell: DNA and the Evidence for Intelligent Design" as a scientific work - I've not read it, but stating that the TLS named it "Book of the year 2009" is disingenuous. The TLS publishes a list of "books of the year"; this was chosen by a philosopher - not a scientist - as his personal choice. You can be a Christian without believing in a literal genesis, and without believing in intelligent design. I find it morally reprehensible that this is so often presented as the only acceptable Christian position, and as for the exaggeration of the standing of the book as "book of the year", this feels not a little hypocritical. Google's AI could be hallucinating, but here's what it says: 'One book on the 2009 Times Literary Supplement (TLS) list of top books of the year was Signature in the Cell. Philosopher Thomas Nagel selected the book for the list, calling it a "careful presentation" of the "fiendishly difficult problem" of life's origins.' Take note, then; it was named as a book of the year, rather than the single, paramount instance.

Over the millennia, connotations of the word "God" have become so deteriorated. The terms Consciousness / Mind / Intelligence seem more relevant for these types of discussions. It seems that the concept of God is not experimentally testable. However, evidence for the effects of Consciousness / Mind / Intelligence are scientifically demonstrable. The illogical, irrational, and unreasonable position of claiming that there is No Universal Mind / Consciousness / Intelligence (i.e. Atheism): The fallacy is the assumption that something is true (i.e. Universal Mind / Consciousness / Intelligence does not exist) unless proven otherwise. The Claimant making a negative claim (i.e. Universal Mind / Consciousness / Intelligence does not exist) cannot logically, rationally, and reasonably prove nonexistence. Because, for a Claimant to know that X does not exist would require the Claimant to possess 100% knowledge of all things with 100% certainty and 100% accuracy (i.e. omniscience). Even mainstream secular scientists claim that approx. 95% of the Universe is still unknown (i.e. Dark Energy and Dark Matter). Of the remaining 5% of the Universe, only 0.0035% exists within the visible light spectrum which the human eye is capable of observing. Moreover, of all that is made of atoms and capable of being observed in this "Material" universe, 99.999999999% is actually empty space (i.e. "Non-material"). Therefore, there is much, much more that humanity does not know about the Universe and Reality than it does know. Based on just this information, the position of claiming to be Atheist is shown to be illogical, irrational and unreasonable. *_“… Every one who is seriously engaged in the pursuit of science becomes convinced that the laws of nature manifest the existence of a spirit vastly superior to that of men, and one in the face of which we with our modest powers must feel humble.”_* Albert Einstein (1879 - 1955), founder of modern physics (Theory of Relativity inter alia) and 1921 Nobel prize winner *_“All matter originates and exists only by virtue of a force which brings the particle of an atom to vibration and holds this most minute solar system of the atom together. We must assume behind this force the existence of a conscious and intelligent mind (i.e. Observer). This mind is the matrix of all matter.”_* Max Plank (the Father of Quantum Physics) Modern scientific discoveries in Genetics (i.e. biology) have shown that functional / coded / digital Information (i.e. DNA code) is at the core of All Biological Systems. Without functional / coded / digital information, there is No biology. The only known source (i.e. cause) in the universe that has been Observed (i.e. Scientific Method) in nature to be capable of producing functional / coded / digital information, such as that found even in the most primitive biological systems, is mind / consciousness / intelligence. The fact that DNA / genes (biological coded information) exists at all shows that a Consciousness-'Intelligence-Mind' is involved in the initial introduction and subsequent propagation of living systems. Un-directed random material natural processes have never been observed in nature or experimentally demonstrated to be capable of producing Functional / Coded / Digital information such as that required for biological systems, even at the most primitive levels of biological life. *_"Language: All Digital communications require a formal language, which in this context consists of all the information that the sender and receiver of the digital communication must both possess, in advance, in order for the communication to be successful."_* (Wikipedia: Digital Data) Inherent in DNA is language. Language is scientifically proven to be the product of only Mind/ Consciousness / Intelligence. Laws of the Universe exist Independent of anyone's personal beliefs in the existence of the Laws of the Universe. Just as man-made laws govern society globally, Universal Laws govern the entire Universe. Un-directed random material natural processes have never been observed in nature or experimentally demonstrated to be capable of producing any form of laws. As scientifically confirmed, non-material laws are the product of only Mind / Consciousness / Intelligence.

Everything being put forward indicates to me that there might be something more to consciousness than we can know. This does NOT point to the god from the iron age Bible who indicated that creation started with Adam and Eve, who will judge all of us when we die, and who will condemn to Hell the non believers. There is absolutely nothing that points to that god. You can have a gut feeling that there is something special about our universe without the need to turn to dogmatic texts of an unknown origin.

How do I know when I'm seeing the color "red" that other people see the same color or just another color which they learned to call "red," and so on with all the colors. We all agree to the name of colors, but there's no way to know whether we all are identifying the same color with the names we learned to call them.

Damn, it’s the cleaned up version where you used to see a truck in the background behind Shane. The great music has a sad kind of lonely undertone to it that matches Shane’s fatalistic attitude about a guy who is forever tainted after having to kill other men.

I do not support any false propheteer Eric, who worships the little horn of the beast, the man of lawlessness and the American antichrist Trump. YOU have been rejected by Christ for worshiping and lying for Trump and will be left behind to go to hell with Trump, if you don't repent! The Day of the Lord is not a twenty-four-hour period of time; rather, it is an extended period of time that includes the seven-year tribulation, the return of Christ to put down all rebellion against Him, the 1,000-year reign of Christ on earth, the final defeat of Satan. Somehow, the church through Trump’s delusion does not understand the rebellion is not just in the secular world, but it is in the church and God is fulfilling His prophecy in Matthew 3:12 “Whose fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.” Matthew 7: 21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22: Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’ “ (Jesus is talking to the church, not sinners and Trump is clearly the man of lawlessness.) God has higher expectations for those who claim to be one of His and will be judged by that standard, separately from sinners. John berated the end times church of Laodicea in Revelation 3:15 “I know your works, that you art neither cold nor hot. 16 So then because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew you out of my mouth. 17 Because you say, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and know not that you art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked.” This is Trump Christians. Repent the little horn Trump!

There is a crises in humans when they start to separate from the wholesomeness and oneness with the universe God and Creation. Requiring principle, the ability to learn principle and the bespeaking as explanation from a nature and reason that God and Creation satisfy all the quests and searching a person may have. We are surrounded by how wondrous life is and there's no route taking us on a path to divorce from this. Where we seem to find a quandary is in emotion and logic to satisfy our own opinionated view of the world.

look up the dover trials, ID was a hoax designed (!) to get another hour of god into classrooms without breaking the law (the first amendment if you weren't aware) the ONLY people who keep dragging this stupidity up are religists who think it is serious, kenneth r miller - a catholic biologist - prosecuted the case and the dover school board all quit before the verdict was in, ID and creationism was proved FALSE in court and it should be dead and buried.

Almost a 'counter-reformation' as the first one was simply a 'deformation' from Good Holy Tradition; attacks on the Church.
