Bows Against the Barons
As a child I was read the book "Bows Against the Barons". As a film maker I always wanted to make it into a movie. I made this pilot, Sadly I could not get funding bodies to even watch this first 10 minutes. Bows Against the Barons is a 1934 children's novel by British author Geoffrey Trease, based on the legend of Robin Hood. It tells the story of an adolescent boy who joins an outlaw band and takes part in a great rebellion against the feudal elite. It is great because it had a very realistic view of a real peasant's revolt. You cant see the film but read the book.

Burbiszki - Ode to Nature
Переглядів 594Рік тому
No sex, no plot, just beauty! A visual movie without words. In the tradition of films like “Koyaanisqatsi”, “The Tree of Life” and going back even further “Berlin Symphony of a Great City”. . Moving pictures to music is considered “pure cinema”. The idea to look closely but see far. To see the infinite in the local. Nature inspired the composers and the music has inspired the film maker. Music ...

Made in 1969 a documentary about Cardiff's development plan. I was 18 and wanted to be a filmmaker. A rather boring subject chosen because I was a bus conductor at the time. Interesting now because then there were very few film cameras and even fewer in Cardiff. Interesting to see everyday scenes and the state of some of the housing. #Cardiff #1969 #transport #cityplanning #wales #archive #bus ...

Shot in Lodz Poland in about the year 1973 it features my friend Elizabeth (Elka) who lived in a small room with tiny kitchen and shared toilet in a old building. Her parents had died several years earlier and so was alone. She was supported by the State and went on to study Sociology and Film Production. I shot this after becoming her friend, we kept meeting in cinemas, we both loved films. I ...

A student comedy made by students of the Polish State Film and TV School in Lodz. Directed by Chris Swider, an American, and Maxim Ford from Britain in their spare time. Not part of school work. It was shot in the house we were all staying in, it was in Retkina a district of Lodz, a private house where we all rented rooms. It stars Jola, Christopher's squeeze of those days. A modern day Citizen Kane, told from the worker's point of view. The story of a strike / lockout caused by tycoon Murdoch sacking 6000 of his workers to increase profits. So glad I found this. I attended the Foundation course there in the late 70s . Fresh out of school, this earnest, intellectual and maybe pretentious approach to the exciting new world of ART made my head spin! John Berger's 'Ways of Seeing' was compulsory reading and the college encouraged freedom and experimentation.

AGAIN NO mention of the Poles holding Germany to ransom over access across their land corridor to the sea, which was the REAL reason war broke out.Whether the Poles did this under advice from the British,so as to force Germany to act is a grey area.Though the Poles and the British ignored and declined ALL of Germany's offers of peaceful reconciliation pre and post the 1st September "Invaison".The Poles had been trying to ethnically cleanse that are for decades, the population being in the majority ethnic Germans. The area being part of Germany pre WW1.What better way to empty an area of it's populace than to start a war over it.Not only that but the brits were looking for ANY excuse to attack Germany after getting egg on their face after the Czechoslovakia incident. It was ALL TOO CONVENIENT for BOTH sides that it should happen this way. Britain and France had the very naive that Germany would be a push over militarily, how VERY wrong they were. WW2 could have been avoided at any one of over 40 opportunities pre and post the "invaison" into the Polish land corridor.Britain and France CHOSE otherwise.

+silver760 Germany should be considered lucky that it still exists as a state. Germany started 2 world wars and lost both of them. The world was kind enough to let you exist as a country. I know that Germany would not be as kind. If you think that the corridor was the reason for WWII then I'm afraid you have much to learn.
