My dad started caring me with him on his archery hunts when I was about 5 years old in the early seventy's.
I had no boots our hunting clothes and we would hike in the dark into the North Georgia Mountains caring food for the day and would hunt all day and come out after dark.
This usually meant wet and cold feet as the dew would soak you thru in the mornings and a camp fire for lunch to warm a can of stew, water from a creek to drink. I enjoyed every minute of it. Very few people archery hunted at this time in our area. I always considered my dad a pioneer in archery hunting. He hunted with a Ben Pearson Gamester 45# recurve which I still have on my wall.
I encourage you to pass on the tradition and carry a youth hunting.

Deer Management : stocking of white tailed deer in Gerogia
Переглядів 1515 років тому
The restocking of deer in the Cohutta Management area was hindered by public support including "local people, courts , judges, juries and the indiscriminate use of dogs for taking deer by hunters". This was changed after DNR pulled out of the region until they had the support o the public. This lack of cooperation and overwhelming support of the public for hunting is what is missing today. What laser you using buddy
Goes to show you. Everyone makes mistakes I did the same thing turning scope the wrong way I love my ravin r10
Yep exactly!!! U would think they would have fixed these 2 problems a long time ago but with a brand new one in 2023 they have the same stupid problems!! And a much as they charge this should not be a problem! and as far as i am concerned. They r crap!! Bought a brand new R5x and have had nothing but problem after problem! Have not even been able to sight it in on target let alone hunt with it! And Ravin Customer service is absolutely terrible and they don’t care about their customers!! A 1600$ paperweight!!
Nice job bud
I really like this Barnett!! Right out of the box... I was hitting the target.
I installed this optic on a crossman 760 air rifle.I have now shot the riffle around 500 times during target/plinking practice, and the ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxc4K63Fd5LglDMObu7-Bgapxp_ef0W8hE scope has done well. With this optic, I have neutralized around 30 pigeons that were invading one of my buildings. For my short range air rifle, I will continue to use this scope, but will be upgrading to a more powerful scope, when I buy a more powerful air rifle, in order to shoot at longer distance. For the money I have spent, this scope has truly been a great buy.
Hey Chris. Love your videos!!! What brand shooting rest set up do you have? I want to get one to sight in my ravin crossbow. Thank you Sir! Also how much are they?
What kind of rest are you using?
Thanks your video helped a lot!
Cost as much as a small car.
Step 1 should be insuring the vertical crosshairs are actually aligned. If they aren’t truly vertical the error will increase based on distance of shot.
Nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
always do the one shot sight in.....1..set it down on a table or sled and fire at dead center... 2.. if the bolt hits the target keep the scope centered and adjust the reticle to the bolt......next shot will be perfect every time
What about when the deer smell the ozone. Ozone really stinks. How long before the deer figure out the smell of ozone means humans!
That ravon don't stack the bolts like the ten point does
Pretty bad first R10 limb broke hadn’t been cock 5 hrs so I get a replacement and the limb broke on it had to send it in got it fixed !!!! I have hunted a week so far this year all good so far???? And the cable and string seem to wear pretty fast!!! But it shots excellent!!!
You could have saved yourself a whole lot of time and effort when sighting in. At 10 yards, just to see where it's hitting..... you hit the target. Going from that put the crossbow back in a solid rest and aim at the bull and without moving the bow adjust the reticle to hit the arrow you just fired. The same process would go for the 50 yard sight in. Hold dead on with the 50 yard reticle..... if it hits where you aim you're good if it doesn't put the crossbow in a solid rest aim for the bull's eye and adjust the reticle to go to the arrow you just fired. You left out an important part toward the end of the video though. You forgot to mention that verifying the 20 yard reticle if you hit high or low you have to adjust the speed ring up or down to compensate for the arrow trajectory.
The Ravin video says to go back to 30 yards after the 50 yard sight in is complete. Did you do 20 yards for any particular reason?
I wanted to verify my closest and furthest dot was correct. Sometimes things happen when sighting inn , I always like to verify to give me confidence in the stand. Thanks
This is the first method of scope leveling that makes me feel like I can trust it.. Other methods left me feeling like "this is probably close...but not perfect." Thanks for putting this out there!
Not hype. From personal experience.
just missing the head on the wall, idiot hunte.
Easy fix . If the crank is just barely hitting the scope caps then sand a little off of the end of the crank . But I think the best option would be to move the scope away from the crank just enough to clear . But you may have to get a different scope mount ?
there is no other scope mount for this, plus, you would have to (grind) to much off in order to make it not hit
So if you sight your scope at 50-yards and then move back to 20- yards. And after some sighting, you zero at 20-yards, now do you have to re-sight your 50-yards again? Cuz, said you sight at 50 and move to 20- yards but didn't hit what you want n vice versa. It's easy if you hit your target at 50 and 20 yards without moving the dial any further.
I love it ! I've been looking on Amazon at cheap scope levels, almost all which work entirely on guns. But I already have a professional carpenters level that I didn't even think about using. Thanks !!!
U guys notice w ozone blowing & u breathing it makes u cough a lot. Not sure if bad or not but def makes u cough a bit.
Move the scope forward one notch on the picatiny mount.....
My scope maxed out and I can't hit my target at 100 YARDS... HOW DO I GET IT TO HIT AT 100. I JAVE THE RAVIN R29X
What type of scope is on your R29x?
I enjoyed the video. Been thinking about buying one for a while. Looks like they work.
Hearing the crank really makes me appreciate my ten point viper
Great review thx bro
Can you explain how it works opening up? Because I shot one in the ground and it did not open up so how dose it work on deer flesh but not the ground????
I would probably sound pretty ignorant trying to explain how it works, I would just say that the deer I shot it worked as advertised but it doesn’t make sense to me either why it want open in the ground. On a side note I have probably hit the ground more in my years of bow hunting than I hit deer. Thanks
I was also advised to recheck once the broad heads are on. They claim the way the air flows with the blades and the fletching can move the arrow around. Nice video! Thanks. Generally always a good idea to also take shots exactly how you will in the field. Elevated and with the actual broad heads you will be using.
I’m looking at getting a R29X. Any feedback on that model?
Sorry I had thought about buying one also But never pulled the trigger.
Decided to get one. I pick it up this week. Hope it works out well! Cheers
thanks for the review
Deer you shot that was perfect shot placement
I’ve totally done that. Luckily for me not with a barn behind it. Thanks for sharing that!
I'm not a fan of Ravin crossbow I have tenpoint rs470 this year and I love it last year I used a Ravin r29 did not like it
Rage is by far one of the best selling and most popular mechanical broadheads on the market. No one broadhead will work the same out of every bow and before Rage updated there retention system some time ago, they got a bit of bad publicity for opening in flight with some hunters. That problem was corrected a long time ago. The only issue now is making sure that the hunter properly installs the collar. Of course, the NC model is now out there as well. I do believe that the Rage design is perhaps the greatest of mechanical broadhead designs ever. I’m sure that not everyone is a fan, but overall the Rage remains the most popular and effective for a great number of hunters. It produces great performance and most often top grade accuracy.
made one myself ua-cam.com/video/kWEWiPEaEQg/v-deo.html
I have a R10 in its box in my living room. Trying to determine if I really want to spend all that dough on it. You did address one of my concerns which was how loud it is when cocking. I did not know you could turn the clicker off. I know you are demonstrating a R9, I am hoping I can turn the clicker off on the R10. Thanks for the video
I've shot 2 deer with rage. One 3 blade chisel tip, and one with hypodermic both with the collar. Both shots passed through both shoulders, and I could have replaced the collar on both, and shot them again. Great broadheads!
Great review. I just got some of these yesterday. They are accurate and fully open on entry in the targets i have shot. I dont like mechanicals but crossbow didnt shoot other broadheads that i tried as accurately as these.
It's a bolt not an arrow
It's an ARROW. Bolts are the 6"-10" projectiles used in indoor competition.
Have you upgraded to any of the new ravin’s?
Not yet but I have been considering it for this season.
Thanks for the review, I'm going to buy one next week.
I've had 2 Ravins, an R10, and an R26. never again will I ever waste my money on one of these pretending to be crossbows. The R26 was so long and vibrated so much I would spend more time retightening everything on the bow. Finally I got smart and sold that little thing for alot less than I paid for it a couple months later. Buyers beware. The R 10 wasn't much better, and the cables did let go after 25 shots, to it back to where I purchased it, and 4 months later, we'll into the latter part of deer season, I got it back, 3rd time taking a shot after the first failure, the same thing cables let go. Never again, I had lost 5 years of not being able to hunt, due to fighting cancer and a Mersa infection in my port, then lost another season due to constant failures. Makes me wonder which was the cancer, the Ravins or the actual having cancer. Never again.
Sorry to hear you had so much trouble with Ravin. Anything that keeps a hunter out of the field is not welcome during deer season. I have been blessed to hunt a good many years, and praying for you to have an awesome comeback year. Let me know if you go with another brand? Thanks
Thank you for the heads up! Saved me thousands!!!!
Picked up the R10, what a magic piece of art. Thank you for the upload.
Good video thank you
Keeping it in cocked position for long time is bad for the strings?
I took your advice and order a ozonics. Do you have any tips on walking in and out to your stand.
On ozonics it performs much better on high. If you are hunting permanent stands, I trim vegetation so that I don’t brush up against any leaves limbs or grass to leave scent. I also will take a leaf blower and blow out leafs for quite entrance, I will usually pick a very windy day prior to season opening so that the noise of blower doesn’t run all the deer off. Good hunting
