Remember That We Are Dying | Dharma Talk
I was a Christan now I am a Buddhist.
I'm a Thai Theravada Buddhist who grew up in a Christian environment. I am 100% certain Buddhism, Christianity, and Hinduism can be reliable allies against the threat of a belief that encourages followers to kill or enslave infidels.
I m a free thinker who practises buddhism teaching. Nothing wrong for other religion believers to adopt Buddhism teaching and still adopt your original religion. Buddhism was introduced not to convert anyone. 🙏. Kindly take note that Guatama Buddha who introduced buddhism and was not a Buddhist. 🤣.
I always strive to live by the wisdom of my Great Buddha - "Be excellent to each other... and... PARTY ON, DUDES!"
Yes I am :) Practicing both Chan and Catholicism. Amituofo 🙏
I would say that Buddhism is based around teachings. Like if you are Christian but you go to school. Your faith isn’t schoolism but you are Christian.
Lovely video thank you for sharing. Buddhist practices can help anyone in their spiritual development whether that’s Christian or anything else. Practices which increase compassion and awareness for example. There is a part of the journey where the paths are in the same direction but there are some key differences that will cause a divergence. For example Buddhism doesn’t have the idea of an external God. Rather there is an emphasis on oneness, connectedness (which also exists in some forms of Christianity). There is the idea in Buddhism that there is no fixed “self” which leads to dissolving the walls of ego that we construct and connecting with others- which has similarities with trusting in God, letting go- though there are some differences. It’s hard enough for people in the modern world of social media, tv, consumerism etc to follow a spiritual journey, to be kind, to be compassionate, to be happy in the happiness of others, to have equanimity without it being detachment (Buddhism isn’t about separation/detachment - it’s equanimity). Rather than using differences to lead to hardening, to separation, it can help to be aware of differences, without judging- to be aware of similarities, what we have in common, and to practice what is helpful and nourishing to oneself and others.
"ancient, ancient". Why state that twice? He wants to put the idea into you that these Gnostic texts are the oldest. Nope! They are not the oldest. They were written in the 2nd century, prior to the four Gospels.
There are many who believe the gospel of Thomas predates the gospel of Mark. Reason being, the gospel of Thomas only includes what Jesus directly said, zero interpretations included (among other reasons).
The short answer is that you cannot be both and it is better to be none. All religions are equally made up.
Having worked in the past with the occult and was channeling different gods and demons, none of them were like the Holy Spirit! Where there are gods for this and gods for that, Jesus Christ does it all. He is the only one I serve. One can tell that difference in the spirit once they live in alignment with the one true God and that can only be had by and through the blood of the Jesus Christ. You cannot serve 2 masters
Buddhism does not teach about serving a master. Buddhism helps you expand your way of thinking about the world so you can understand why life is the way it is and helps you be more mindful and think more carefully about things which in turn helps reinforce Christian values and teachings. If you read the Bible and the teachings of Buddhism, and not go by what you THINK what Buddhism is, you'll realize they literally compliment the other.
@@akungfujourney4383 thanks but I’ll stay with Jesus! Just Jesus❤️
When I was into new age practices the Buddha was often around. I wasn’t feeling good nor was I doing good, always longing. The moment I broke the strongholds that I was held in from serving Idol’s, peace came upon me like never before. Meditation couldn’t do that, Shaolin karate didn’t do it for me either. I caught demons by worshiping false idols and it was hard. That’s why I personally can say that I cannot serve 2 gods. Jesus is king
@lisahamrick5185 Well, it's a good thing Buddhism isn't a religion then. Maybe you were having those problems because you had a conflict within yourself, but believe what you want. There is no Masster/God in Buddhism. I'm not sure why you think that there is. Buddhism is older than Christianity. Did you know Christianity has some of the most judgmental people, even though it teaches/preaches not to judge? It has morei animosity within its own religion and has more than 45,000 different denominations within it as well, which is more than any other religion out there in the entire world. That's not even a united religion. It's definitely a divided one because even within its own religion, people can't decide which rules and customs to follow. Buddhism has 3 main sects/denominations and is known worldwide as one of if not the most peaceful religion out of all of them. The Bible talks about how you shouldn't argue about the Bible, yet that's one of the most known things Christians love to do is argue that the Bible is real and correct. I myself was raised from 1 year old in Christianity, and I saw its imperfections and contradicting teachings. Not to say Buddhism doesn't have that either, though, because it Mos certainly does, but Buddhism isn't a religion. It's a philosophy. That's why you can study it, and scientists can measure/quantify it. That's also why you can be both Christian and Buddhist because the values and teachings are essentially the same. Christianity tells you what to do, but now how to do it; Buddhism teaches you how to do it part, which in turn helps you be a better Christian. Meditation is prayer, and prayer is meditation. You are literally doing the same thing in both; focusing on something/someone to help you be a better person. 😊
@@lisahamrick5185Buddha is not god or an idol, he is a teacher. The Buddha statue is like the cross in Christianity. The cross isn’t god, it represents Christianity like how Buddha represents Buddhism.
The simple answer is NO, saves you the time to watch this video.
whats the link to your video explaining this?
You lazy
Interesting , I was always brought up that you had to Pick One or you may not get to heaven ? Raised a Christian but have been practicing yoga for 23 years now. 😅
Here's the problem with the gnostics, the Gospel of Judas and the Gospel of Thomas canceled each other out.
Good. 👍 Those things are wicked. 👎
Where wan I learn more. This really resonates with me.
Nice to hear this from a western Christian. Here in Taiwan, I get very annoyed when I see Christian (almost always American) missionaries in my country actively trying to lure young people away from Dhamma, calling it “evil” and “demonic”, even once pointing at a blessed representation of the Tathagata in the actual temple and calling it an idol, in public, and rather loudly. I have resorted to extreme rudeness on more than one occasion, which is deeply against my nature and my beliefs. I wish more could be like you. Namo Buddhaya.
The same thing happens in my country, Vietnam.
What do we do with Christians who tell us we need to get rid of all our Buddha statues. I love Buddha. Jesus and Buddha want the same thing. I don’t care for truly esoteric Buddhism just what Buddha taught us simple folk❤
Imagine all you want. It does nothing unless you come to Jesus penitent. This is The Only Way. Seek the way the truth and the life. Please don’t mistake religion for faith. You CANNOT be both Buddhist and Christian. Lies of the enemy.
What a limited view you have of existence. 😢
Buddha is not came Hindu Religion buddha Is time no have Religious
That is so so beautiful! Thomas Merton fully acknowledged the benefit of his dive into Buddhism ever enriching his Christianity. My girlfriend and I are currently doing a deep dive into John ODonohue and I feel he would also generously agree!
Brother, please read your Bible🙏
Cognitive dissonance
Orthodoxic Church and Dalai Lama (one of the most powerful Buddhist teachers in the world) ❤️
Funny, I thought to myself...Christian Mystic (maybe too new agey) then I thought..Transcendent Christian. Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater..agreed.
It took me a long time to say with confidence that I am a Buddhist Christian. I find peace in both my meditations, and my prayer. My faith in Christ is my foundation, and my belief in mindfulness allows me to realize the bigger picture that that faith is built on. It allows me to evangelize further, spread joy harder, and love all of God's creation so much more. I appreciate you for posting this. Bless, brother. ❤
Wonderful and powerful prayer!
I practice both. It is easy:
Yes I am a Buddhist Christian ❤
Iibelieve Jesus and Buddha walk similar paths and we may can add mohomad
What is a Buddhist christian I guess I’m a Buddhist witch then
As a catholic I really like the teachings and practices of Buddhism too and although I don’t believe in there view on the universe I do love there teachings
Got it. For anyone interested. Book title: Transformation at the base 😊
Appreciate this reading! Inspiring me to read TNH for myself. What is the title of this book 📖?
Rarely do people try to see a different perspective like learning a new language.
What about when you are stuck in 5 o’clock traffic? Is that rebirth?
reincarnation apparently exists in Christianity too, hidden in the Jewish Kabala; Gilgulim, the revolving of souls through a succession of lives.
I was a Buddhist (though I have never really given up on its teachings) , embraced Christianity, and now I wish I could be a Christan Buddhist, or Buddhist Christian, but can that be????
May God Bless us All♥️ Amen❣️
Yes! I am a ☸️Buddhist Christian ✝️
No you aren't, you are just a buddhist
Impossible

Different terms for spiritual truths
Same here. I feel drawn to orthodoxy and Mahayana Buddhism so I practice both. I also practice from the Taoist tradition. I love all three traditions . ☦️☯️☸️
That’s beautiful❤. I heard that Buddhism can be and is meant to be practiced with other religions.
But a Christian is just a Christian, that's the difference.
Sound heals....
I am a dedicated dharma practitioner and have conservative Christian values, and sometimes I don’t feel like I fit in with the sanghas. I love the suttas and I love the Bible. I hope this concept spreads.
Absolutely love this! The blending of two sacred traditions, is at the heart of where many of us are at. Both Christ and Thay are my teachers, each informs the other, when the Truth is revealed in our lives.❤
A concept that is spreading.
Easter is a pagan holiday Jesus Christ was nothing but a murderer and a thief Christian / Catholics have murdered millions throughout the centuries over so-called faith
Christian Buddhism is a way of life that brings us back to our center, the balance between knowing why we are here and our consciousness and living in a way that is best suited to our peace and ability to create and sustain life here; while not missing out on our connection to our ancestors and universe. That we can have both.
I was born in Amman Jordan, I am Palestinian from Bethlehem and Jaffa originally. My grandmother is from the Dajani family which is mystic and not “Muslim” they historically challenged local religions and politics to protect the holy land ( protecting king David’s tomb in modern day Israel, rejecting hijabs and seperation, teaching the history of all three monotheistic religions) I myself was raised in the United States and in Roman Catholic school but labeled “Muslim” In my high school which I now realize was so progressive and beautiful compared to what I’ve heard others experiences were in Catholic education, I was taught Buddhism by a teacher that was a recovering addict and gay; but taught our religion class when I was 15. Me and my friend wanted to convert to Buddhism then, life and the realities of 2007-2020 took over (I am now 33, millennial at best). Years later, while studying moral philosophy with a lot of atheists actually and those traumatized by both Islam and Christianity me and my peers had an enlightenment only described by these beliefs and texts. We realized the undeniable relationship between Jesus and Siddharta, that they may have actually met not just existed. The similarities and their story, how important it is, and how parallel. I believe Christian Buddhism is my “religion” but it is undeniable that in those belief systems it is counter intuitive and counter productive to ever consider “religion” as something close to god and to our true calling and life. It is a beautiful thing, and I am happy more people are spreading the true word of God and the universe.
Chritianity Buddhism (and some other religions ) have great value to humanity but islam is a hoax, deathpenality and constant lying (by preachers) is the only reason it still exists, mohammed was an unholy criminal and a liar
We've been preaching about that, too. HalleluYah Praise God. A. Huan Dao
Yeah, right
Is there a belief that blends Christianity and Buddhism ? Because I was raised christian and I've practiced Buddhism cohesively for 15 years now and have yet to meet many people who feel the same Religion + Practice = ?
Thich Nhat Hanh does
@@user-hr3dx1ov3s thank you I'll look into it . 🙏
😊 🙏🏽
🧐 the Buddhists think Jesus was a Buddha. Follow the Way, where are you going without ever knowing the Way?
