A great presentation. It took me 50 something years to finally face my abuse. Today I am on a journey of healing that started 6 years ago. It is never to late to face that demon and be on a great path to heal. Being part of a community of fellow survivors helps me to move forward and allow me to use my voice.

My God!!! Such a moving and powerful poem and story. The poet in me relished Every single word. Very similar relationship with my Mother who passed a couple years back now. Her love was limited by the phrase alone... Actions spoke louder as she pursued a selfish life disregarding my worth. Berating me due to my "differences"... Offering me to those who stole my innocence charading as family. Bless their souls. Peace be upon us all.

This is what it means to be a survivor, a true empowered person in recovery. None of us are just broken. whatever you choose to do now takes no more courage than what you have been through. It is what it means to grab life with fierce compassion and commitment to living. Mikele Rauch: Taking Back Ourselves.org
