Hahhah! Odds are you won't find "these". The idea is to be open to whatever IS there (thrift stores, garage sales, library free tables, etc.) There are SO many cool things out there that we've NO idea about until we start looking and seeing them for the treasure troves they are (brochures, books [old and new], visitors' bureaus have loads of things with gorgeous pics in them, as do travel agencies like AAA, children's books, newspapers, phone books, vintage greeting cards, etc. etc. etc.) When you're out and about, there's usually free newspapers and magazines promoting the area, that we don't even notice we're so used to seeing them, they're full of goodies too. Ohhh I'm so glad you enjoyed it Lisa. I did a few videos on "collage fodder" very recently (exploring/expanding on the current craze of doodling flowers and ferns on those patterns and colors you're talking about. (my take on it: there's MORE to it than FERNS and FLOWERS...makes me crazy when people just do and re-do and re-do what's already been done without putting their own spin on it at all. So those comments are are "there" just not in this video, but you're absolutely right.) 🦀 🤓 As for the paper dolls (homemade and Holtz's version), I've never been a fan and they're used so much and over done, like the flowers and ferns (and butterflies 😝) they're EVERYWHERE and ugh....that's always problematic for me. We are CREATIVE beings, yet follow every trend as they come along and for far toooooo long. I absolutely LOVED my RX-7 (hubby bought it for me as a wedding gift, it was my dream car. I learned how to change its oil bc the Jiffy Lube guys made such a mess of here pristine engine/underbody, hahhahah. Hubby had one too, charcoal grey, same year). That car drove like no other vehicle I've ever had (and I've had loads, including a Mitsubishi Eclipse and Datsun 280ZX, neither could not hold a candle to the RX-7s). They were MEANT to take hairpin curves at 80 mph, lol. Just hugged the road. Magnificent rides they were. When I was looking for those pics, I see some are going for $18,000-$24,000 🤩

OHHH! So glad to see you "back". Didn't Jewell just combine her two loves of journaling/art and reading/books? Or am I thinking of another crafter? I get here hibernating for long periods. I would love to do that too, lol. YES! Travel brochures and those freebie visitors magazines have wonderful pics. Inspiration is everywhere. As for my "choices" I'm only as good as what St. V's had to offer at the time. I would love to get some of the goodies that JJ's gets, but dang, I checked around eBay and they're not cheap. For glue books and junk journals, I am cheap, hahhahah. Too cheap to spend $20 on a magazine to cut up. But dang: the images are fabulous!!!

Hahhahha, "yet"...yup, it's a slippery slope, lol. One thing leads to another leads to twelve-hundred others...But we use images in all kinds of projects don't we??? I can see you asylum-upping and making industrial all kinds of wonderful unique finds. You have such a distinct style, that's so refreshing! And you're right, getting outside our comfort zone is what Art is all about ✨💥

Oh yes!!!! And many of them really different unusual things that would be no where else. Also, their lists and graphs and stats are great additions to collages and master board (Margarite Miller style). I often tuck a completely random item into my projects. For example a journal with a vintage garden them, I might tuck in some true crime stats. Just for conversations sake. GBWW is great for that too.

I KNEW you'd dig the Godzilla mag!! I still haven't talked to my library about a magazine swap bin...🤦🏻‍♀️ Now that St. V's seems to not be getting/putting out many/any (?!?!) magazines and there haven't been any at the library's free table either, we neeeeeed a magazine swap bin. I love that you know exactly who the three-headed dragon is (not surprised 🤓). We had "The Ghoul's Creature Feature" here that came from Channel 50 in Detroit, every Saturday: scary movie fest. I watched the Godzilla movies at Gram's house for some reason and scary movies at home lol. I believe Jeanne Baney sent me the Artful Blogger magazine. The SS magazine(s) were a prize from Harmony's Creations 500 subscriber's give-away. She sent me THREE of them and a load of wonderful papers and fabrics. Wowzer. Always great to chat with you here. We have GoodWill and Salvation Army here too, but GoodWill rarely has much "used" or vintage stuff and very little crafty things. Loads of books, but mostly new (and cheaper at Dollar Tree). Salvation Army is under new management and it's...I'll just say "yucky" (I've loads of other choice words, but I'll refrain) so I never go there. lol. Happy New Week to you 🥳

But sometimes I have to pick my battles here, lol. (as there are countless and limited time and energy, so my words collection is a nightmare, but I've got some cool projects in the works ⚖️ I'm working on something else that may make that part of you glad too, can't wait to show ya' 🤓

PS Sadly, my gel plate prints are still MIA. Have had several family emergencies here and my calendar/project/room purge plans have gone by the wayside for a while, but I've not forgotten. As with most things around here, it's gonna' take time 🤪

Such a crazy practice (all in the name of greeeeeeed) It still feels weird and wrong 😖🦀😡, lol. You can use ANY means of getting color on to the pages: crayons, colored pencils, markers, colored pens (raid your office supply/junk drawer); I've even seen people use thrifted make-up to color pages.

I just may have to do that 🤔 😂

oooohhhh! Watercolor paper that would be a fabulous find!! I have found some really cool Tim Holtz tools and a long while back found Gelli brand texture "combs" for the gel plate, 3 for 99¢...they were $18.00 on Amazon when I checked. Brand new. Never used. Hahhaha, I have loads of yard work to do too, but don't want to do it in the blazing sun and heat, lol. It's "FALL" yard work, I should be wearing a flannel, NOT sweating like a pig and fearing heat stroke, lol. Yeah, the Let's Do Christmas NOW is so bloody irritating. Temperature-wise here it's still mid-summer, we're trying to get into the fall spirit and Halloween is fast approaching...Can we just do that first???!!! Maybe instead of Christmas you could so some wonderful Winter projects, the season of hibernating and letting the batteries reboot? I love winter bc it's time when all around us nature is resting: It gives us time to allow our bodies (and minds) to rest- time to warm our spirits and recharge our minds ❄️
