Its decompressing time actually, with a badly implemented decompression algorithm.

For some reason, the rope zip glitch only works on the Japanese version, and it came out months after the NA version. Some wrong warps are only possible on the Japanese version as well. It's pretty strange but it made the speedrun a little more interesting.

@@2GOOD yeah top gears first, because you have plenty of time to get the bottom gears while waiting for the spring. Check out ulvsblakk's run, he has a few faster strats than I had when we ran this game. www.twitch.tv/videos/264708281

Sorry I just saw your comment, yes it is JPN specific. The zip happens when you press jump at a specific frame. The jump input is right before he grabs a rope or chain. It looks cool, but it is a grind to get an Any% run going. I am considering running a zipless category. Lol

Yeah NES version is hot garbage lol. SNES version has a lot of cool speedrun glitches, though.

oh cool, I'm very glad to hear that! Well, it started with watching yellowkillerbee speedrun it, and then my brother Craigdude007 started running it. I was into the warps initially, and then when we heard there was a glitch called rope zips on the Japanese version... I thought they looked super cool. And then a runner named ulvsblakk found 3 or 4 new warps on the Japanese version. That's when I thought this game is so cool and broken, I need to be good at it. Lol thanks for watching/reading :D

Hey Beater thanks for watching my run :D Haven't timed it exactly but I had a run earlier today where I fell on the chandeliers twice, lol. If I played Library perfectly it would have been sub 21, and it wasn't a perfect run. (close to it though) One thing to consider is I normally do damageless Dungeon, was forced to take a death there in this run. The death in Haunted Halls is intentional though.

Thanks! Oh man, those steps! Once I missed a jump I just wanted to avoid the bats, but I ended up wasting time for no reason! Oh well. Gives me a little room for improvement I guess. Sub 17 is definitely possible, but it's gonna be tough.
