Suzi Stern has been an essential figure in the Austin, Texas jazz scene for decades as is one of the first artists I had the privilege of working with here in the early 1980s. Her recordings and lyric writing are bold and inventive and her clear, soaring voice immediately recognizable. Geoge Oldziey is both a terrific jazz pianist & writer, leading Gato 6, as well as an orchestral composer for ...

I love this song! Q106 in San Diego used to play this song all the time in 1989 and 1990 in the mornings.
PLAY THE SONG!!!!!
was at Al in Dublin a while back what a gig
Always loved this song! Al...you're a shining 🌟 star. ❤
Great job Scott and cousin Paul. I still appreciate great music and great musicians. Thank you for sharing your talent with the world.
Please keep this in Austin….I have experienced it in 7th grade band recitals…….uggggggg
I’ve been to at least 50 ok restaurants with this kind of music playing live in the background. I always ask how much to get the music to stop. Each time was a little spendy, but a true bargain
Such a fine player, why he is not more famous is a mystery to me.
Great remembrance of an irreverent, eclectic, composer, musician & story teller of the Frank Zappa-idiom, what we lost...
Alejandro is a legend.
I would love to know the bass amp setup, the tone is CRUNCH!
It makes no sense. It makes perfect sense.
That's my favorite line from this song too. Al loves to play with words. I love "I like her better when she walks away" for the double entendre there
Great song writer has always had very good musicians playing with him. He is a hard-working musician and will do whatever it takes put on a great show.
Ha. I agree with that wholeheartedly. I have seen him solo, with the orchestra, True Believers, Buick McKane, SOOOO many incarnations. My absolute all time favorite lineup was the "Burns Something Beautiful" band with Peter Buck, Kurt Bloch, Scott MacCaughey, et, but I love what he is doing recently with Scot Danbom (centro-matic, sometimes DBT). I WILL say...he takes his performances personally. I have seen him in a club as small as 300 tell people (specifically call them out) to shut the eff up and in a room as large as 2K (well...THIS room...but not this night...although I was there this night) admonish people for walking out during the middle of a song.
I just found this video. Scott and I connected after something of a 50 year lapse. We are cousins. My wife came to me long time ago and said " Don't you have a cousin who live in Texas named Scott Laningham? I saw the picture and knew instantly it was Scott, so I reached out on Facebook, and said something like " hey Cus"... Seconds later I received a response " RICK", and the next day we were talking on the phone. We went right back talking of memories and things that we did. We spoke several times a week, listening to each other catching up even the time he was picking up hamburgers for his family in a drive thru in a typical Austin downpour. We both laughed. In the time that we shared, all we talked about and I was so happy to hear was about Elizabeth and his kids. Scott introduced me to his music, his family. For that I am forever grateful. Scott made for me a Wonderful World, and I give thanks for the short time we had. Rick Watson
Great job I can hear your punk roots in that one !
Was impressed with Mitch backing Ruthie Foster live at the Paramount. Great guitar solos. Especially Death Came a Knocin..
Alejandro Escovedo always has a great rock sensibility.
Miss you, Scott.
I love this video. And I love Scott. Thanks for everything, my man.
Nice! Very nice..Thank you Scott!!
He was a precious gift given to this world. Never forgotten may he be at eternal peace his will is done.God bless his family may they carry on with such a great loss 💞💞💞💞💞💞
This says a life well-lived to me. 🙏🏼
This is such amazing footage!!
And...Moose in my house has been on my top favorite's list for years!!!!!
Oh goodness...what a special human being Scott was. He is already so deeply painfully missed. What a beautiful tribute made by his amazing and wonderful Elizabeth, Nate, Megan, Rachel, Erin, Luke, Paul Evan and Emma. I was so sad not to be able to attend the Sat. Memorial. Sending all the Laningham's all my love.
Beautiful tribute! Amazing man with a beautiful and talented family to match! Scott will be dearly missed by so many, but he left his mark leaving us all better for having known him. We're blessed to have known his sweet soul and the compassion he had for everyonel - not to mention being blessed with his body of musical and video graphic work! Miss you my friend, but never forgotten!
Love you, Brotha Scott!
How beautiful, beautiful soul.
Love this
I’m so sorry we’ve lost this beautiful talent and person. Rest In Peace Scott. You will be remembered .
The world was a better place because Scott was in it. He was a beautiful human. May his soul Rest In Peace.
beautiful beautiful beautiful
Scott is with the angels now and we all must Carry On for him and his wonderful family. Scott’s beautiful music, one of a kind smile and fantastic sense of humor will be missed but we can keep the essence of it alive for generations to come. Rest In Peace my friend.
This just broke me up after hearing of his death. Such a wonderful man and one of the best musicians I have ever known. I knew Scott in high school and we kept in touch, even though I have lived in Germany for most of my adult life. We were together the last time in the summer of 2018 for a long dinner with lots of talk at the Kerbey Lane Cafe in Austin when I was passing through. My heart-felt condolences to his wife Elizabeth and his eight kids. Scott was, in every possible respect, an exceptional person. His passing fills so many of us with such a deep sense of loss, but his presence will remain for a very long time.
RIP Scott. You'll be missed.
I know you’re watching over us right now
I love you so much dad
ANDY on Sax, can't go wrong with this Scott, time for a freedonia album?
Freedonia LIVES!
lovelovelove
Very chill dr. Scott!
This is ferocious! Haven't seen him in a few years, since Globalquerque in about '17. He usually comes through NM once a year.
Farout. Would dig on seeing him. I live in Ruidoso. Used to live in Austin.
So good to see you back Ron!!!
Scott, this is lovely.
Thanks, Joe. Hope you are safe and well. Too long since we've seen each other.
Beautiful! Awesome work, Scott.
Thanks, Larry. Been digging on your YT channel. : )
