Cheapest Rolls Royce Silver Shadow in Europe - part 5 - Ignition timing, oil change & coolant flush
Переглядів 2,1 тис.6 місяців тому
Let's perform some basic service on this car before running the engine for any longer. Set the ignition timing, change the 8-year-old oil and flush the coolant. All the while, keeping the cost low. At the end of the video I show a full cost breakdown of my Rolls-Royce ownership so far.
Cheapest Rolls Royce Silver Shadow in Europe - part 4 - Engine fixed?
Переглядів 11 тис.9 місяців тому
In this episode I attempt to fix the engine choking/stalling issue by doing an ignition tune-up (new distributor rotor, cap, points, capacitor, ignition coil & wire) and replacing the fuel filters, including the ones in the carburettors. Let's see if that helps.
Cheapest Rolls Royce Silver Shadow in Europe - part 3 - Will it drive?
Переглядів 15 тис.9 місяців тому
Will it drive? The challenge is to get this classic Rolls-Royce that I bought on the cheap to a drivable state. Doesn't have to be perfect, just has to run and drive. The main issues to be tackled are the engine choking up/dying and the hydraulic height-control system leaking. Can I get it drivable with a small budget, without spending a fortune?
Cheapest Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow in Europe - part 2 - Will it start?
Переглядів 6 тис.9 місяців тому
Will it run? Watch me try to troubleshoot the starting/running problem on this 1974 Silver Shadow that I bought for next to nothing. This is my first dig into a car with carburetors and mechanical ignition (with points!). The fuel supply system (fuel pump, filters) is the main suspect for why the engine is not starting.
Cheapest Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow in Europe - part 1
Переглядів 7 тис.9 місяців тому
I just bought the cheapest Rolls-Royce (any model) in the EU. It's a non-running and non-driving 1974 Silver Shadow I with a 6.75L V8 and a 3-speed automatic gearbox. Rolls Royce has always claimed to make the best car money can buy. Let's see how good it is 50 years later and what it would take to restore it to its former glory.

How to test a BMW diff speed sensor E28 E30 E31 E32 E34 E36
Переглядів 6 тис.Рік тому
This can be done with the diff on the car. Testing a BMW differential speed sensor with an ohmmeter is a very simple procedure. If your E23/E24/E28/E30/E31/E32/E34/E36 speedo (speedometer) is not working, one of the possible culprits is the speed sensor that's mounted on the differential cover (or the wiring for it). These 80s and 90s BMW models' instrument clusters get their speed signal from ...

BMW F10/F11 TMS headlight module removal

How to remove the TMS module (which controls angel eyes and automatic headlight features) on a BMW F10 or F11 (F30 and others should be similar). This may be necessary if you've had humidity in the headlight and the TMS module has gotten damaged. The symptoms are that the turn signal doesn't work and you get various automatic headlight leveling warnings on the dash.

You definitely need to use RR363 brake fluid, which is a castor oil formulation that keeps the hydraulic pumps lubricated. The Shadow is still the must hydraulically complex car ever built, based on aircraft hydraulics technology. You'll need to learn to bleed the system. You can make your own hydraulic lines or order from Flying Spares. Also, look into rebuilding the accumulator spheres. Get your hydraulics sorted out before it becomes an expensive problem.

Hi, i am running an M54B30 engine swap. Normally E46 cars have ABS sensors that connect to the ABS module and send speed info to the ECU. My E30 has no ABS so the ECU doesn't know how fast i'm going. Though there are ABS sensors on the E30. I am currently installing a digital screen in my E30 called "Canchecked". Its a digital display that reads out ECU info and displays it. The screen also has 4 analog inputs. My question is: is it possible to connect an ABS sensor to the analog input to be able to display the speed or not? Thanks

You most likely have a vacuum leak. What was the torque setting for the wheel nuts? They should be no more than 45-50 ftlbs. Any more will deform the nuts. If the wheels were mounted by a tire shop, I can guarantee you they are set way above 50 lbs.

Great video on how NOT to adjust SU carbs. A peek into the workshop maual will help you. The dampers must be in place, vac advance removed, etc. The carbs have to be balanced with dial gauges and the float level checked. Anyone watching this video willget you in trouble. Notice the rubber hose used on the stove pipe which is above the exhaust manifold.
