This is silent footage of Boba Fett's FIRST EVER public appearance at the San Anselmo's Country Fair parade on September 24, 1978. Kermit Eller is in the Vader suit, and the man in the Fett suit was Duwayne Dunham, who also wore the White SuperTrooper pre-production suit. This even pre-dates his appearance in the cartoon portion of The Holiday Special.

What is interesting is Fett's jet pack has coloring which is closer to the ROTJ paint, than the ESB from what I can tell. Wonder if they used one for publicity and they went with that color set up for ROTJ.
There were multiple Boba Fett costumes, this is the publicity costume, and was later used as the hero costume in rotj.
@@unimpressedlink2507 actually this is not the publicity costume. Rather the "pre-pro" costume was the one used for publicity. That one is a little closer to the one from ROTJ but it has less decals than the one from the video (its missing the "jaig eyes" at the top of the helmet, which this one has, and the shoulder insignia is also a bit different). That costume is for instance very close to the one depicted in the Kenner figure, with details this costume from the video also has (helmet and chest plate of a greyish blue tone, and red and yellow gauntlets)

It was the '70s & he was a young guy, so probably not. I had to harp on my own dad as a little kid in the '80s to get him to wear his seatbelt because he grew up in an era where they were seen more as an inconvenience. (I noticed in an episode of Fargo a couple of weeks back - set in 1979 - that the characters there were not wearing their belts either & I really appreciated that level of attention to detail.)

DewbackRider Could you imagine a character from a highly anticipated sequel making his public appearance in such a way today? As savvy as Lucas could be with marketing, it's funny that Fett made his debut in such an unassuming way.
Having Fett in the parade, and not mentioning who he was was kinda cool though, especially since every one of those kids would see Fett in the Holiday Special on TV less than 2 months later. Instantly, there would be recognition of the character they had already seen. Something worked, because Fett is one of the legendary SW characters today.
