NCG and I are most likely the most dedicated Theo players in Celeste. We've done so much together: Grinding all the Vanilla levels with Theo, seeking new techs, pushing our limits... I've tried to make Theo Gameplay more popular and more original by creating two maps (The White Hole and The Solar Purgatory). Today it's NCG's time to shine. Reckoning is a map that uses the most incredible Theo gameplay to date. Freezeframe ungrab, Dream rejection, (Grabless) Theo Dreamhyper, Grabful Theo Corehyper/super, Theo stall, Theo freezing, are just some of the techs you need to master if you want to consider challenging this map. Reckoning is the successor to The Solar Purgatory, which already borrows from The Solar Express and Pinball Purgatory. This map has a long story behind it. And all of this would've never existed without the awesome and dedicated work of Soloiini, Maya, and the Strawberry Jam Team.
I also want to thank @imacowy, IamTNT, Dector and @CelesteClears (Evelyn). Without their work, Reckoning wouldn't have been the amazing map it is now.
About my difficulty opinion on Reckoning, I don't want it to be set in stone. I'm certainly the most biased player for this, as I have a tendency to underrate Theo maps. The biggest comparison to Multiball is probably Abaddon, the last room of The Solar Purgatory. Despite making that room I have not beaten it, which makes me unable to compare their difficulty. Though, I can still confirm Multiball is harder than the Solar Express FC Silver which I have almost gotten. It took me twice as long despite the fact I have almost 2 more years of experience now. Solex FC Silver is ranked as High t2 in the Modded Golden List. I don't think it's a good idea to compare map difficulties and golden tiers, but it should give an idea of how hard Multiball is. We are talking about a room that is divided in 5 segments that are, on their own, all classifiable into the Grandmaster+1 (Astral) tier.
As another point of comparison, for those who know the hard theo maps, I have cleared GDDH's last room in ~45min (Red+1), no 7B1D1B room took over 1h30 (Green+2), Reckoning ROOM in 4h12 (Yellow+2) and most of my Theo map clears are extremely fast. However, Multiball alone took me 66h54. It's probably also due to my bad nerves control and the fact that I rarely clear long rooms. And finally Ark cleared Abaddon in 30h but cleared Multiball in 140h.
Now compared with Chrome Hearts and 7C Needle, I just... don't know lol. I'm bad at dashless gameplay. No one has serious progress on them except respectively Dan who's the mapper of Chrome Hearts, and TheAbomination0. For now we wait, but keep in mind they are focusing on completely different skillsets than Reckoning.
All of that aside, if you play because you enjoy the game, and not because you absolutely need to clear what you start, I highly recommend Reckoning.
